Danielnino00: PSG could not hold onto an advantage of 2 away goals against a Man United that finish 7th in the league, he's talking of thrashing teams. I even honorably excluded PSG then he added Lyon and Marseille. Abegi. They won't do jack. Nonsense and condiments. 2 Likes |

How Leon Balogun Moved From First Choice Central Defender To Fourth Choice In Super Eagles The sharp decline in the international career of Brighton and Hove Albion defender Leon Balogun with the senior national team of Nigeria came as a surprise to many considering how well he made the team defend the past two years. Fast forward to the last Africa Cup of Nations and the once reliable Balogun referred to as the brain behind the success of the “Oyibo Wall ” partnership with William Troost-Ekong lost his spot to Kenneth Omeruo. Many will say the decision was based on his lack of game time at Brighton but one point to note is that he wasn’t that much a regular at Mainz 05 as well but kept his national team spot and excelled when he gets to play. So what went wrong at the AFCON? According to a team source the coach unlike before where Balogun was his sole option due to the level he was playing in Germany as opposed to Kenneth Omeruo who was on loan in Turkey and Chidozie Awaziem who found it hard to make inroads into the first team of FC Porto. With Omeruo cementing his spot at Leganes in the Laliga the season before the AFCON, the coach didn’t hesitate to drop Balogun even though he had his doubts on pairing Omeruo with Ekong. However the both players proved the manager right with two crucial goals that ended as the match winner. Omeruo netted against Guinea while Ekong scored against South Africa in the second group game and quarter final respectively. Sandwiched in between their goals was Balogun’s error in the 0-2 defeat suffered against Madagascar. The demotion to third choice central defender was something Balogun was beginning to accept until the last friendly game where Semi Ajayi was preferred to him in central defence in the absence of Omeruo in the starting lineup for the friendly game against Ukraine. Ajayi was coming on the back of a strong start to life in the English Championship where he has excelled at West Brom following his move in the summer. He further cemented his growing legacy with another goal over the weekend while with every passing game Balogun isn’t close to making the matchday squad of Brighton. |

iSlayer: leave Andrew... he just dislike the EPL... pretending to be a man city fan because of his MCM Guardiola Ligue1 teams are piss poor in European competition.. just one title in ages!! Even the Dutch and Portuguese leagues have done better! IMO, if u take out PSG from the French league, it would be on par with the Russian,Dutch and Portuguese league... Can the likes of Lyon and Marseille hold their own against Porto, Benfica,Ajax,PSV, CSKA, lokomotiv and spartak Moscow? 3 Likes |

tbaba1234: It's about quality and team progression and cohesion. Chelsea is using kids to have a very successful campaign in the EPL currently. West Ham had a strong team and so did Bournemouth as well as Manchester United. You win some you loose some cup games can be very unpredictable. |

andrew444: U said d EPL is ahead of the ligue1 truly.. I saw that...but then u changed gear and said Lyon and PSG will thrash any team in the EPL except city and Liverpool.. that's a big fat lie!! PSG beat Liverpool in the UCL group stage and it didn't in any way affect our progression to the next round .its normal to lost group stage games . but after the group stage, what next? why aren't PSG and Lyon thrashing the teams they meet in the knockout stages? Its a shame that France can only boost of one champions league winner and 4 finalists in many decades... |

andrew444: So because Norwich beat Manchester city they should therefore win the EPL. One game does not determine the quality of a team. It's the over all performance over the season. How many French teams got to the last 16 of the Champions league and or the last 8. That gives you an insight into the over all quality of a league nit just the teams at the top. |
