In terms of everything including food, Igbo traditional wedding beats Yoruba weddings hands down.

The yorubas apart from the educated ones, the one's I know will pregnant a lady, and that's is it, she becomes his wife, marriage rights or no marriage rights

In Igbo land we discourage such

Go ahead if it pleases you, you are sure of an igbo lady faithfulness and loyalty, couple with commitment to the marriage

They hardly get married and mess around

Unlike the ofe mmanu that will be married and still keep men because they are not really sure if she will be the only wife

They are always having a back up incase the man decides to bring in another woman

Their men too are not helping matters, they will keep women in bariga, mushin and Agege, shuttling them as if their life depends on it

When old age comes he will become stranded because non of those women will want to take care of him because he was a multipurpose man for so many women

They are not Yoruba but they answer Yoruba names and speak Yoruba plus their own native language. I served with a lot of them but can't remember the name of that their tribe

I think it's called 'Kaba'

How can government look into culture... Sometimes you talk like you don't have sense like how can government look into a culture or how a tribe decides to conduct marriage ceremony. Is government going to give them new laws and ways to get married?? Think about it

Tina26:
its high time government looks into this. its now a means of extortion and its driving many guys into crime. today some ladies even sponsor their own bride price. some will give you list as if they want to open shoprite
