What is the Future of Denel?

The Mismanagement of the ecoinomy that plagued South Africa during the term of President Jacob Zuma is still having a negative impact on the Economy.

For more than a year now there have been concerns regarding the long term health of Denel. For some time now the company has been in financial distress but what happened over the weekend of September 21st may have a negative impact on the Defense Sector of South Africa as a whole.

During that weekend the company was supposed to make a scheduled delivery of 40 Military Vehicles to Chad. The Vehicles were ordered back in 2017 and the Chadian Government paid R100 Million as a down payment for these vehicles.

The total cost was between R230 Million and R250 Million depending on the source of information that you are using. This amount is a large chunk of money to renege on.

I'm sorry Sir, we don't have to agree. I said I like it, you say you don't like it. Please let's just agree on that. No reason to quarrel.

A 12 kg IED Resistance & with total protection to the drive system down to the propeller, double turrets system, 615 WD turbo Diesel engine, 360’ Telescopic long range PTZ camera."

130 units expected.

It didn't seem to go through any of the explosive and ballistics tests that the NAV-MC vehicle did (at least not publisized) so I have no idea.

What do you think about the Ezegwu MRAP. It's design looks similar to the Sisu APC?

Article kinda doesn't make sense. This thing did not start on the weekend of the the 21st September. The South African and Chad governments have been in discussion about it long before then, this is just when the media picked it up.

And to the rest if your article, there are still many foreign potential partners interested in buying stakes in Denel subsidiaries or partnering on projects.

Drone War in Libya: Wing Long II versus Bayraktar TB2

The ongoing civil war in Libya has enter a new phase, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) are increasingly being used by both sides.

On September 24, a Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial combat vehicle operating at the Mitiga International Airport under the control of the forces linked to the United Nations recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) came under attack by UAE-LNA operated Wing Loon II UCAV.

The attack to destroy the Bayraktar TB2 UAV was carried out using the Blue Arrow 7 (BA-7) guided missile.

This recent attack is as a result of numerous successful reconnaissance and ground attack operations by the Turkish Bayraktar TB2.

I hope its not just a front to steal money.

Kenya National Police Service strategic plan 2019-2023, I have added the $$ equivalent for easy understanding...

........................................
The plan says the service will spend Sh5 billion to increase CCTV coverage in Nairobi and Mombasa and their metropolis.
Ten billion shillings($100m) will be spent on installing cameras in Kisumu, Eldoret and Nakuru and their environs.

A police referral hospital will be constructed and equipped at Sh20 billion ($200m), while Sh3 billion will be spent on upgrading the DCI academy.
Some Sh5 billion will be spent on the NPS Border Police Training Campus.
Police plan to acquire 6,000 assorted vehicles, 1,500 motorcycles and 20 boats in the period at Sh45 billion($450m).
It will spend Sh500 million in titling its land.
Construction, refurbishing and equipping of police stations, camps, posts, stores and residential buildings is projected to cost Sh18 billion ($180m).
New structures for the Critical Infrastructure Police Unit and Border Patrol Unit will take up Sh600 million.
Construction of a model police station in every county will cost Sh7 billion.
The service plans to capacitate its airwing at Sh10.5 billion ($100m) by acquiring new planes and choppers and recruiting new personnel.
Installation of CCTV cameras at all police stations will cost Sh500 million while recruitment of 1,000 new investigators and forensic experts is expected to cost Sh5.5 billion ($5.5.m)
Police plan to develop and implement an intelligence model at Sh200 million, while mainstreaming of human rights and gender issues will cost Sh800 million($800m).
According to the plans, restructuring of the NPS into a seamless operational entity with distinct functions for the Kenya Police, Administration Police and Directorate of Criminal Investigations will cost Sh2.6 billion.
...
There are plans to decentralize the operations of police’s Internal Affairs Unit and enhance relation between the service and other stakeholders.
The service plans to recruit 45,605 officers at Sh5 billion in the period while determination of number of specialised technical staff requirement will cost Sh500 million.
