Guys please help me before I fall into depression. My visa application was rejected within one week of interview. The DHL Man delivered my original documents today. In the letter of rejection which is in German, this is what I was able to translate;

"Due to your information provided on application, there are doubts in your case about the stated purpose of travel. In doing so, you were unable to plausibly demonstrate Thre's intentions to study. The discretion could not be exercised in your favor. The application must therefore be rejected. The remaining grant requirements were not final"

I don't really know how to proceed. Guys please help me. I have spent over 5 million on this process blocked account inclusive. Most times when I came to Lagos for the processes like Ielts, other exams and Interview, I was leaning lodging in hotels coz I have nobody in Lagos. The transportation was crippling too. Please guys I really needed this. Am depressed. This course would have given my life and career the needed career trajectory.

Meanwhile, this reason for rejection seems to be leaning towards your intentions to study. You probably did not convince your vo about your willingness to further study.

But I'd still like to know how these 2courses and how you convinced the vo about it

Thank you brother. My interview went well. I must tell you that I aced all the questions nd the woman was impressed from her face. But one question I didnt answer properly was "Why Germany and not USA or UK". I must admit I fumbled on that question. Can't remember the answer I gave.

Intended course is Health Informatics though I did philosophy and came out with 2.1 with a strong GP.

Deadline for enrollment is 30th october.

Before Interview, I have not funded. But I completed funding this week.

Oh my God. But you didnt you read prior transcripts here atall? that question is about as easy as any question nah oh my god i think the logical answer to give is that it's far cheaper to study in germany for an on par standard.

This is a serious matter bro calm down ehn tomorrow is another day. Oh my God
Are you sure she didn't give off any other sign? What happened after that part of the interview you fumbled

Funny you. If they the people you know could not decode the reason for the reject and tackle it, how then could they have appealed. How is it now so possible for you to say they could get AM soon. So so funny you

Note, we are not concluding, we are all assuming from the almost non information we have. No one has complete facts yet since the guy has not responded since then
Thanks.....am a funny dude.

First off, I want you to understand that, you're not alone in this. Most of us have gone through this, at some point. You're human and the way you feel right now, is the way you should feel. However, brooding and mourning won't change a thing. It's time to get up and try again.

Secondly, about the reason for the refusal. You have a B.Sc in Philosophy which is completely different from the Health Informatics, you plan going for. This is something, which you should have tackled in your motivation letter.

You're going to fix this glitch, by writing a Remonstration letter that'd address every possible reason, you can think of, that'd have made them, reach the conclusion that, your intention of studying is questionable. Be it the disparity between your B.Sc and intended study, any study gaps, etc. I'd recommend you reach out to some elders, for help, particularly @Dolpaz.

This is a phase that'd pass soon. Hang in there. God got you.

God bless your kind heart.

This is the most confusing part. You can't see any concrete reason as to why they rejected you. Very painful something. I have been trying to decode why they rejected me in that letter. The only thing I saw is "They are not convinced". I kill person? What did I do? Chai... O my career I wanted to give a fresh air. Nawa.

Dolpaz... Can you assist in any way please?

Had my interview today
TRANSCRIPT
I arrived at the embassy with my umbrella and was checked it immediately at 6:45.
I was the only person for students visa at that moment.
A fairly old and tall man with a very calm demeanor was doing the work of the famous Mr Paulinus so I was thinking; Mr Paulinus is too nice and gentle o judging from the way he was arranging the documents of the other Schengen visa applicants.
Soon, two other people joined me and he came over to us.
Called out the checklist, i was easily following him because I already followed the arrangement advice here.
The other guys weren't as fast, then he asked me to go get another copy of the admission letter. (I followed the advice that says you don't need the original if you didn't receive it by post.. I was wrong)
It was while I was on it that they told me Paulinus traveled and that man is deputising for him.
When I returned, I helped others to arrange Theirs and he checked us in.
I was interviewed by the friendly, smiling lady on dreads. Infact she was the only VO on duty today and the students are not much.
It was more like an informal discussion.

V.O: hand me your documents please (with a great smile and positive energy).
VO: Completes the preliminary session, gives me the payment receipt for visa fee of N29,500.
Fund your Fintiba and send me the confirmation to this email.

VO: Masters or Bsc? why Chemistry? Why Germany? Why not Nigeria? Why not USA or UK? Where is your school located? BSc thesis? Since you want to be a lecturer, you should hopefully do your PHD at once. Hopefully you get scholarship for that.
I was just saying yes Ma, I pray so too while I smile and nod my head like agama lizard.
VO: what do you know about Germany geographically, economically, politically? What position was the president occupying before he became the president? What is his political party? what is the longest River in Germany? What is the capital of Germany?
All these I answered correctly, then she asked, what is the size of the river? I said I don't know.
She told me..800 and something
.
VO: do you have any family in Germany?
Me: yes, a family friend and a school mate who is also schooling in this same school I am headed to. ( Freie University Berlin, by the way)

Then she gave me a Chemistry test...3 questions which I am very sure I answered 2 correctly.
VO: any questions for me?
Me: No ma!
VO: Ok, that will be all, we will communicate to you through the email.
Me: Thank you very Ma. Have a nice day.

I pray that God will meet all of us in our points of need in this German waka.

Thanks to all the contributors on this wonderful Nairaland family.

could it be that the PHD question was a trap?

I don't think the PHD question was a trap because he said he wants to go into academics so going further with his PHD is also in line... For now no one knows why exactly his application was rejected, but the other option now is to appeal and back it up with prayers...

Please brothers and sisters let’s help this guys, I know how it feels to get rejection even if I haven’t been rejected before is painful. It can lead to many mysterious things such as depression. If we all can come together and help one another this place will be a better place. For those who have gone through this and you all succeeded please pen down something here so they can follow or your contacts so they can reach you. I really don’t know how to go about it either but I believe few people can help who has gone through this process. For some people this is the only way you can help someone on this life you never can say.. it’s a big thing a big career and a big step to take this decision of leaving for studies and betterment of one life. Please like he said he has spent 5million for this process. Please let’s help a brother it could be any of us some of us are just been lucky to through na God las las

Do not be depressed. Not when there’s still a way out of this. You’ll have to get a strong appeal, re package your documents and Am will come.
From what i can decipher you are going for a second Bsc. And you didn’t fund before the interview. Also your intended bsc seems unrelated to the proposed course of study. You may have failed to do justice to that in your motivation letter/ interview or not done enough.

You should write a stronger motivation letter and try to bridge that gap. You should be able to convince why you’ll be going for another bsc that is unrelated ( as the case maybe). Attach your BA confirmation and your docs send them and keep praying. Since your enrollment deadline is oct 30th there is still ample time if this can be done at the earliest.
In this German waka giving up is not an option.
There are some persons on this platform who’ve successfully scaled through the same hurdle.

Yes I was. It was on my AL that I either submit TOEFL/IELTS or confirmation from my uni, so the consulate asked me to add it to my documents.
Apologies for the late response.

From philosophy to health informatics, the relationship btw the 2 courses will be so difficult to prove. I mean its totally different from first degree

This is beyond the scope. Is even related if you come to that aspect

No, there's nothing about the PhD that dampens his study purpose.
If that interview transcripts is actually what played out, all these rejection are all oversight issues and should be appealed vehemently, but do get an enrollment cert if is possible by proxy or far enrollment extension. It will surely take time but I see them winning it. My only fear is enrollment deadlines can make sour your the expected win.

I also will like to be a part of the process from now, ur appeal.
But please do get an extension of not less than 6 weeks.
The waiting time can be shorter or longer than the 6weeks.
Rejection is not actually a concluded case, sometimes is actually part of the test of your conviction.
I have seen tremendous success there
