We may also have to accept the fact that the great days are gone and we are now mid table team. Just like we were in the late 1980s. We have to gradually build a strong team within a period of 3-5 years by identifying and collecting the best young players in England and beyond. I think this is what OGS is trying to do. I'd actually prefer Matic to him since he, Fred, doesnt even give us the pace we need. Matic, at least, can keep the ball and reads the game better.

But Pep was really after him, I don't want to believe he was that bad at Shakhter...Our play is just dysfunctional at the moment.

Shaw has zero discipline. Any small thing he has added weight. Look at him looking like a heavy weight boxer. If he is like this in his early 20s what will he be like when he is 30?

Pep’s village people work for him, not against him.
He dodged a bullet with him, same way he dodged a bullet with Alexis Sanchez.

Fred’s problems have nothing to do with our play.
His ball control is not clean enough and he does not shield the ball well.
He is lightweight physically and gets pushed off the ball often without the ref coming to his rescue.
He becomes jittery when the opposition presses him and is a liability in our half.

As a senior member of the team, costing 50m and coming in with the reputation of a Brazilian international he has been a disgrace. I would not say disappointment cos i never really expected much from him.
