Court Orders Permanent Forfeiture Of Assets Linked To Oyo-ita by LocalChamp: 2:24pm On Sep 27, 2019 |
Published September 27, 2019 Ade Adesomoju, Abuja The Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered the permanent forfeiture of some assets returned by a suspect linked to the suspended Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita. Details of the case were not read out in the open court when Justice Folashade Ogunbanjo-Giwa made the order of final forfeiture of the monetary assets to the Federal Government. Oyo-Ita was placed on an indefinite suspension over corruption allegations launched against her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Moving the application on Thursday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s lawyer, M. S. Abubakar, said the funds were voluntarily returned to the commission as proceeds of crime. Abubakar reminded the court that it had on June 28, 2019 granted an ex parte application ordering the interim forfeiture of the assets. Abubakar said as of Thursday, no one had filed an application to challenge the interim order despite that it had been served on the suspect. He therefore urged the court to grant a permanent order of forfeiture of the assets. He informed the judge that the money had been paid into an account with the Central Bank account as soon as it was returned by the suspect. The judge went on to make the order of final forfeiture of the assets. Copyright PUNCH. https://punchng.com/court-orders-permanent-forfeiture-of-assets-linked-to-oyo-ita/ 4 Likes |

Hm. Somehow, I like the fact that this is happening. Not just to her but to other corrupt politicians too. She can't be squeaky clean? If people are witch hunted and used and disgraced out of political offices like this, then we will learn to understand not to let greed override our sense of compassion and patriotism. We will learn to turn down appointments when offered especially when you know you would not be allowed to do your job. Better yet, we would learn to resign when we find out the place is littered with, to say the least, UNPATRIOTIC and WICKED PEOPLE. 13 Likes |

LocalChamp: A TIME WILL COME NIGERIANS WILL HAVE TO DEMAND FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO EXPLAIN WHAT SHE INTEND TO DO WITH THOSE ASSETS THAT ARE BEING FORFEITED TO THE GOVERNMENT. They must come out with a blue print on how these assets will be managed for public good. 2 Likes |

Lexusgs430:Do you even know anything about Nigeria politics? Abi you just rush to comment anything? this government is controlled by a certain cabal who are highly vindictive. they just use security agencies to intimidate those who they feel ain't loyal to 'em. they aren't curtailing any corruption but merely chasing around their perceived enemies. 2 Likes |

MondayOsunbor: Nope. My brother, if you think they did this to her because she STOOD UP TO BULLY, then you are 101% wrong. It was just a deal gone sour between the stake holders of the presidency and show of might. She was just a victim of lesser power. If not, they wouldn't even have nothing to seize from her in the first place if she was a SAVIOR of democracy. In fact, she wouldn't even have been in that office in the first place. When you are recommended for an office, and you find out you can't deal, turn it down, seek for another position where you can deal or you flow with the tide. She didn't want to choose from any of those but went for a Russian roulette style of politicking with the BIG BOYS |

You have an impression that half of the people going for a career in the Civil service go there with only ONE THING in mind - to become rich or super-rich through corruption. While some brilliant guys are seeking a career with CitiBank, these other guys find their way somehow somehow to get into the Central Bank. The brilliant graduate is happy to be employed at Unilever and 20 years after, he is looking for a loan to buy a house. His not so bright counterpart in government, whether local or state or federal, has built an estate after spending 10 years in service. The righteous suffer in a grossly corrupt place like ours. The righteous in Civil service suffer more. He goes back to his village to start riding bicycle after retirement. Nigeria must fight corruption. In Asia, the brightest and the best are employed in Civil Service, and they are nicely paid - That is why they are developing so fast. When are we going to clean up the Civil Service in Nigeria? Those who claim to be fighting corruption should start in their backyards. 1 Like |
