ak22: Lexus GX and Land cruiser Prado are both from same family, platform and identical wheel base. The GX has a V6 and V8 powered engine and fitted with equipment which categorise it as a luxurious SUV it is also fited with air suspension to give it a comfortable off-road ride and assist in ground clearance adjustment for either off-road, boarding or ride performance. The V6 should be Asian mkt while V8 is international mkt The Prado depending on trim too isn't bad, it comes fitted with 4cylinder or V6petrol engines and diesel Engines too. It is available in regular 5door or 3door coupe, comes in manual and Automatic transmission, I just know is has several trims and not a bad car. I have been in a GX460 not driven it though, driver side isn't bad and well thought out. But I prefer the recent Toyota IPAD screen looks enticing than the GX460. The Prado would give you more respect though common but most security outfit on road would think you are a politician and give you right of way, compared to a GX which doesn't have that aggressive look. Depending on trim and what you need in a vehicle the GX is higher than the Prado but when you look at the air suspension of the GX, it's better to find a luxurious trim of Prado and buy. For European mkt you should focus on TXL or VXL while Australia/Asian you should focus on GXL and VX 2 Likes |

I detest the Prado. |

HeavenlyBang: You mean ordinary Prado or land cruiser Prado? |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by HeavenlyBang(m): 11:56pm On Sep 26, 2019 |
ak22: Are they different cars, or am I missing something? Isn't the Landcruiser Prado just the Middle Eastern 4runner/GX? |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 7:37am On Sep 27, 2019 |
HeavenlyBang: it's the samething. 96-02 and 03-09 mostly had only Prado as the badge no land cruiser joined. It was later in 2010 that Toyota now added landcruiser to join the Prado because it looks identical to the land cruiser was just shorter in width compared to a landcruiser. |

Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 5:52am On Sep 29, 2019 |
radautoworks: Lexus GX, Prado, FJ cruiser, 4Runner share same platform, some parts and wheel base 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by radautoworks: 8:19am On Sep 29, 2019 |
nurey: We struggle matching parts for the Prado because it's not an American model. Especially when the parts is not in stock and had to be ordered, we can match to see before we order. Any ideas? |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 9:32am On Sep 29, 2019 |
radautoworks: From what I can gather online, Prado has more common parts with FJ cruiser. But the GX470 shares chassis and frame with 4runner, also suspension parts are identical, I know these because a faulty balloon suspension in the GX470 was changed to standard spring using the 4runner suspension bits and it fitted perfectly only that no ground clearance change again. From the outward appearance the landcruiser Prado should share more parts with GX460, they basically have the same stance, exterior appearance from the rear though I don't know if the Prado was offered with Air suspension in any trim. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by radautoworks: 12:49pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
nurey: This helps quite a bit. We usually checked with 4runner and Highlander. Never thought to use fj or gx |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 12:58pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
radautoworks: 4runner may not fit the Prado because both have a different 4WD setup, also the 4runner has a V6 and V8 while the Prado doesn't offer a V8 Engine. So depending on what trim of Prado comes into the workshop, the 4runner, FJ cruiser and GX Engine accessories may not fit, only a Prado fitted with the 1GR would make your work easy all those 4cylinder Prado you should be looking at Hilux or Hiace. I don't think Fortuner was offered in the US but you can beam your search light too on Tacoma |

ACURA TL VS INFINITI G35 Hello car people.. I'm stuck between 07 acura tl (face lifted) and the 07 infiniti g35 (2nd gen) my major concerns are performance and reliability - I'm still a student and this is going to be my first car - I am tilting a bit more to the infiniti cos of RWD (but I've never driven one[rwd] and dunno what the fuss is about) but can pick the TL in a heartbeat as i know hondas are no slouch either with dia precise steering albeit FWD traction. All said, the TL is more my price point (2m-2.5m) but if convinced on reliability i can stretch for a cheaper maybe higher mileage/9ja used G35 *I'd ppreciate comments from ppl who have driven both or own one and can really educate me on problems to look out for as well as strengths to applaud form their experience.* Pricing and availability of parts and at the bottom of my peck: fuel economy (not expecting miracles from either v6) will be a major plus as once again I'm a student and should really be minimizing losses.. I'm a petrolhead and my 1st car just has to hit. I hope you guys can help ease my confusion and if possible suggest other budget car steals I might not have considered. Thanks in advance guys |

Guys I'm making a choice between 1. Honda Crv 2007 2. Lexus Rx 330 Please let me know your thoughts on the capabilities of both (durability, fuel, comfort, resale, off-road etc). Honestly I'm leaning toward the Rx but I'm worried about the cost of maintenance, spare parts, engine etc. Also read online that the Crv may have Ac issues. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 7:14pm On Oct 05, 2019 |
jidobaba: The RX does almost everything better than the CRV maybe exception on Fuel economy and few maintenance parts. 1 Like |

Let me first of all salute the major contributors on this thread. Taking the pains in delivering well researched opinions, for free; it’s quite heartwarming. I wasn’t able to read through the entire thread, to be able to know if my query has found answers before now. Nonetheless, I have been a four cylinder guy for a long time (I hate to dash my money to fuel stations); however, I had a 1999 sienna at some point but I sold it because of economy. I have moved from carina E to Corolla, to two generations of matrix. I have a 2005 ES 330 now, but I’m considering selling it for a 2005 C230 kompressor. I know that the c class a smaller leg room, but I already hate to carry people in my car, so a smaller space would even be prohibitive to their requests. None of the cars I’ve had caused me headaches apart from the 2009 matrix that had unending AC issues. Considering where I’m coming from, advice me! Thanks |

Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by engrezenwa: 2:34pm On Oct 07, 2019 |
Thanks boss for contributing. I love compact cars (one of the reasons why the ES330 makes me a bit uncomfortable). A friend of mine told me that I wouldn’t want to go back to Japanese again after tasting the Benz; hopefully, I’d now switch to E class. However, I hope I wouldn’t be spending unnecessary maintenance money on the Benz.♂️ weyreypey: |

engrezenwa: Beware Greeks bearing gifts. That guy recommends a Mercedes to everyone, and his suggestions should be treated with healthy skepticism. What's your budget? |

engrezenwa: If you like compact cars and feel a Benz is best for you at this time, I recommend getting a C320, as your desired 4 cyl kompressor can be plauged with loads of issues at high mileage. |
