Daniel Akpeyi dedicated his man of the match award to his only true supporter, his son. He said 'he's the only true supporter that I have, I've been thrown shit at'. I guess the afcon criticism really hurt him

No doubt Esiti has lots of minutes under his belt in Europe. But he has never shown for SE. Two caps now, and we are still waiting for him to convince. But like I said earlier, we have several players who got their chance again and again especially in the DM role. So no double standards here from Rohr. Zuby's time will come.

Esiti did well against Zambia at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium. He helped quenched the attacking moves of the chipolopolo in the WCQ then.
My Opinion.

Nwakali hasn't done badly with the U23s. However, he is not an SE material yet.

U23 is at best indicative of quality if you are 21 and you are still talking about youth football your career is on hold.

U 21 players these days are playing first team football if not at thier parent club then on loan.

Nwakali is constantly on the radar of so many fans here. There is no basis beyond old youthful glories.

personally I'm not bashing him, I don't have anything against him but for someone to say he's better than Ndidi or he's some sort of Zidane-Modric-Kante in one body that's what I don't understand

It is impossible to discuss football without making comparison of players this is at the core of the discourse.

Comparing players deciding what attributes they have and can bring to the table of the SE. To then say that it's dislike, hatred and or player bashing is infantile reasoning in my opinion.

How else can you improve if you don't COMPARE. What may be disconcerting is when there is no objectivity but just sentiment. Or when people just make blanket statements without any substance.

If a player is better, comparable and or had some unique skill sets then explain with objectivity. Don't just say as some do here " l know he is better " but why and how NUTTIN.

You know football is a very short term career you get few opportunities and little time to make use of them.

I looked at Esiti in the Ukraine game and what l saw was a player who was heavy and over built with muscle to me. He lacked fluidity, guile, anticipation and presence in those few minutes he looked like a liability.

Maybe he has done better in training and shows some quality and just had a bad game and or did not tune into the game quickly enough. To give him the benefit of the doubt. He got an opportunity but failed to make impact.

Now compare him to ARIBO immediate IMPACT that's how you claim position.

This is why I am so disappointed Eberechi Eze didn't play. It's posse hr could have flopped or blown us away we just don't know. He was not given opportunity.

I didn't know that.

That's not a good sign it says the manager has lost his way and is getting desperate.

He is watching out for his termination notice at any point soon.

So bets on how long will Marco last before he gets
Fired 1,2 or 3 weeks❓ ❓

I speculate they are lining Chris Houghton to replace him.

Sentiments aside. Let's talk about complementary roles. Who compliments Ndidi better in midfield? We can count on Ndidi any day and time in terms of tackles and interceptions. Aribo has brought fluidity in the midfield and smooth transition to attack from what we have seen so far. So let's always talk about what new players can add to the team instead of pitching a player against the other. Can Zuby bring something new to the table? What kind of player do we need when Ndidi is not available? What combinations will work best and in what situations? Etebo has been more of the ball holder for us. I think we can be more progressive here if we talk more about the technical aspect of players, the chemistry, and how that can change the dynamics of our play.

I think you are being political correct and don't want to get tagged a HATER.

Nobody should be untouchable in the SE all positions should be up for grabs and competition that's how you improve IMO

Ndidi should not be a sure starter. The only thing meaningful he has done lately was giving away the silly free kick that did us in AFCON. He has not translated his Leicester form to the SE as of yet.

Chris Houghton is a step down from Marco Silva

They are looking for Mourinho, or a foreign manager

I have never seen u this truthful and concise. Ndidi hasn't had a single top class game in the eagles shirt since his debut. He cuts a different figure from what we see in the East Midlands, he comes here with a high shoulder, and hardly plays to instructions, hence exposing the backline he ought to be shielding. Yes Etebo is a carpenter, but I will select him ahead of Ndidi. Ndidi needs a real competition and should not be a sure starter, he has to earn it.

What conclusion do you want to make on this young man? Say it now and let's park it there and reopen in a year or 2 shall we? You may be right after all...go on then, say it.

This is not true. Ndidi has had some really good games. The one that comes to mind is the friendly against Argentina. Monster in that game.

I can never play Etebo as an only DM if Ndidi is available. Ndidi protects the defense better. Simple. The stats back that.

The thing with DM is that it is easy to ignore what they do because it is not fancy.

Etebo is a terrific player but i do not think the combination of Etebo and Ndidi works in midfield.

Very good defensively but it does not help us offensively. None of them support the attack or get into the box. They both sit deep so we are left with very few men when attacking.

Oga wc stat...are u using Leicester stat for eagles stat

He does nothing different from what etebo would do...I can't pinpoint ndidis major thing he does in DT eagles midfield

Super Eagles stats of course.

At the WC and the nations cup, Ndidi had better defensive stats.

Ndidi is a far more disciplined player in that role. Etebo can dribble though so he is more fancy but Ndidi is better at the job.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by tbaba1234: 11:44am On Sep 29, 2019
Two key differences in the Ukraine attacking performance and the nations cup.

1. Movement : There was constant movement in our transition play. Iwobi, Osimhen, Kalu and Samu were constantly moving. In the nations cup, Ighalo stays static and Musa hugs his wing.So that dynamism was lacking going forward.

2. The late run into the box from midfield: Aribo got into the box several times. The first goal against Ukraine would not have scored at the nations cup because there were usually less bodies in the box when we are attacking. Ighalo looked isolated in the box sometimes.

Has anyone seen this Norwich guy play at all. Adam Uche Idah just 18 years old. He was on their bench the last game they played. He is also 6'3 tall. Has played for the Irish youth teams though.

For the Brazil game, in my opnion, only fighters and battlers on our team should start the game. It's just like playing Man City, you have to be ready to fight for every ball and hit them on the counter when u yu have a chance. So for me, I won't start Chukwueze nor Iwobi (they can both come in as subs). I would rather we have Etebo, Ndidi and Aribo in the middle, then Moses Simon, Kalu and Osimhen in the attack. I know that's blasphemous to most here.
Man City just dey dribble Iwobi yesterday like he was a training cone.
