If you want to buy nigeria used car,buy it from known owner. No story. If it is tokunbo, two options, get it directly from oversea or from a reputable dealer and verify the custom paper before paying. 1 Like |

Well to the OP and all nairalanders wanting to know the secrets to not buying a stolen nigerian used vehicle. Secret 1. Ask for all the original papers of the vehicle(proof of ownership,Allocation paper, cmr, custom papers etc),if seller tells you he can't find the papers,my brother beware! Secret 2. On the proof of ownership certificate /allocation paper there is the original phone number of the person the vehicle was registered with. Pick the number and call number to verify if truly he his the owner and if the vehicle is for sale. Secret 3. Take the CMR (central motor registry ) paper to the nearest police CMR office (kam Salem, obalende for lagos registered vehicle) to verify if the information tally with the original information on the vehicle. If not,you can be told if the vehicle has been flagged a stolen. Secret 4. To avoid had I known,it's advisable to buy a Nigerian used vehicle directly from an owner you know very well than buying from a total stranger. 5 Likes |

Car dealers are also thieves, some of them are receivers of stolen vehicles, some come back to steal it from the buyers many examples of dealers hiding spare key in the body of the car where they can easily use it to steal the vehicle |
