Chukwueze is a fighter. Shows you haven't followed the lad at all. Did you see him against Barca??

And Man City didn't dribble iwobi. They only kept passing the ball around every Everton player. Man City are the best team in England when it comes to keeping the ball moving at high intensity. Only Liverpool can rival that. So you expect Iwobi to do the job of 10 other players? Iwobi did his bit and was subbed out so that Everton could bring in another centre forward in Kean to push for an equaliser but as we saw it didn't work out as Man City killed the game off.

Taliban:
For the Brazil game, in my opnion, only fighters and battlers on our team should start the game. It's just like playing Man City, you have to be ready to fight for every ball and hit them on the counter when u yu have a chance. So for me, I won't start Chukwueze nor Iwobi (they can both come in as subs). I would rather we have Etebo, Ndidi and Aribo in the middle, then Moses Simon, Kalu and Osimhen in the attack. I know that's blasphemous to most here.
Man City just dey dribble Iwobi yesterday like he was a training cone.

We have no replacement for Iwobi in Nigeria. Unless you are setting up to just defend, Iwobi has to start. Etebo is not that good as a 10.

And dropping chukwueze?? we will lose something in attack for sure.

We can not win without explosive counters. Chukwueze and Iwobi are key to that.

What would u say about the Argentina friendly then? I won’t be surprised if we we went back to our old ways. Lol.
tbaba1234:
Two key differences in the Ukraine attacking performance and the nations cup.

1. Movement : There was constant movement in our transition play. Iwobi, Osimhen, Kalu and Samu were constantly moving. In the nations cup, Ighalo stays static and Musa hugs his wing.So that dynamism was lacking going forward.

2. The late run into the box from midfield: Aribo got into the box several times. The first goal against Ukraine would not have scored at the nations cup because there were usually less bodies in the box when we are attacking. Ighalo looked isolated in the box sometimes.

I think Rohr will start Etebo Ndidi and Iwobi. But i will prefer Ndidi, Aribo and Iwobi. It will affect our game but hopefully we can still transition well.

Counters are key for this game

This is not true. Ndidi has had some really good games. The one that comes to mind is the friendly against Argentina. Monster in that game.

I can never play Etebo as an only DM if Ndidi is available. Ndidi protects the defense better. Simple. The stats back that.

The thing with DM is that it is easy to ignore what they do because it is not fancy.

Meanwhile, whenever we want to refer a game as an excuse or a stat, please let's stop making reference to DT argies friendly... Any small thing against Argentina, same thing u guys did to nacho prowess in free kick, always citing dt match

Match wey don almost reach 2years now, grin grin

sorry bro I will have to disagree with you the Wilfred I usually see in the super Eagles does not stand out like he does for Leicester City for us he usually performs above-average I'm yet to see him have a man-of-the-match performance for us he definitely has it in him but I think quality competition will drive him to that level of performance for the national team

I would even disagree with u...ndidi only posted above average in d game against Guinea, every oda games d guy has played for us IMO is average or below average compared to what we use to c him play in Leicester wink

let's get the fact right...no one can do what ndidi does for now ...the guy is irreplaceable ...if we are to play attacking football I prefer aribo starting over etebo and etebo and azeez as a backup to ndidi....zuby can get an invite if etebo is injured
let's see what esiti can do his friendly before we say anything
Where are you getting this idea that Zuby and Etebo are similar?? I haven't watched Zuby that much(mostly at the Olympics and a few games at Turkey) but he is very different to Etebo. If anything, he is an alternative to Ndidi.
You guys need to stop looking at Etebo as a defensive player. He is an attacking player whose versatility is hampering him.
You don't know how annoying it feels when I see Rohr playing him as the deepest midfielder.

the afcon match against guinea! u see we Nigerians don't analyse the position unless they make a mistake .... ndidi thrives as the only dm but rohr plays etebo along with him in the super eagles
who is this most consistent super eagles player?

if not for the premier league that analyse the dm position we wouldn't take note of the guy
if chukwueze scores or iwobi assist or oshimen scores , how many of you analyses ndidi
most times here we see stats of strikers and attacking midfielders...only time ndidi comes up maybe when he scores

mind you Ndidi>>>>>>>>>partey

With Gernot Rohr, Nigeria's chance against Brazil is almost zero. You can't park the bus & play on the counter attack against Brazil especially when the space between your two center backs are so obvious that attackers keep running behind them( as we had it against Ukraine) every now and them. The old Rohr we know will probably keep faith with a defence of Awaziem, Ekong, Omeruo & Collins and a midfield of Ndidi, Etebo & Iwobi. The frontline will be Chukwueze, Osimhen & Kalu. Barring injury to any player.

Nothing more to add. A lot of us are yet to understand "Fluidity" and "Transitioning". Yet when the team plays like community grammar school they weep and gnash their teeth and throw tantrums.

Aribo surprised Rohr.. But that only happened because of Ndidi's absence. Aribo won't have started.

For me that's the key issue.

Unless players are given opportunity how will we know that they are better or as good as the players already selected.

Another issue is that you may indeed be doing pretty good in your local club and league it may not necessarily transfer with same impact to the national team the SE.

Considering how good Vardy is with his blistering pace albeit very limited technical ability as well as skill. He has not been able to have the same impact in the 3 Lions.

Agreed without reservation.

That's why it imperative that players take a step.back before joining a club and league. Then ask themselves a number of questions will I fit in with the football philosophy and strategy in this club. What happens if the Managers leaves❓ Is my style suited to this league etc, etc.

That is why it's possible to flop in one league and club than do much better in another. Slimani was essentially dead at Leicester has had a series of loan moves without impact. But he is doing good now at Monaco.

He played about 27 games not sure how many he started.

Opportunity gives you the ability to make a claim for more permanent selection. When you have positive impact then inevitably you claim position.

The starts are not that important. How many games starts or substitutions you have dint really matter it's what you do with them.

How many games did Yobo, Chukwueze have before claiming position, etc

The difference btw Ighalo and Osimhen is like day and night. Ighalo practically waits in the box for ball to come to his feet, while Osimhen make runs thereby create spaces for someone like Iwobi to pass the ball into for him, he also drops to the middle to help build up play, which is one of the hallmarks of the strikers of this era of football. Gone are the days that a strikers job is to stroll and wait in the opposition half, waiting for wingers or fullbacks to deliver ball to his feet to score.

Chris Houghton is a step down from Marco Silva

They are looking for Mourinho, or a foreign manager

I disagree look at Chris Houghton record over the years. He will bring much needed stability to the club without having to break the bank.

Mourinho is only successful when he has a huge amounts of money to spend.

They have had three foreign managers in recent times and they have not been able to exceed David Moyes.

Theu need stability and consistency they are never league contenders. However if they are not careful they can easily end up being Relegation contenders.
