It's obigbo not oyibo!

That changed it to make it sound less igbo!

Alot of areas name were changed

Example igirita became igwuruta

Umuola became rumuola etc

They changed the names of their communities after the civil war, from Obigbo to Oyigbo etc

This is the handwork of the Fulanis government.

Some Nigerians believe that Fulanis from North West are also indigenous to some North East and Middle Belt where they had no presence before the British/Europeans came.
like the OP is trying to place Fulani as larger than Ijo, Ibibio, Urhobo, Kanuri etc

We are talking about languages and you're talking about politics of expediency. Linguistically, are languages spoken in the places that I listed notvariants of Igbo dialects?
Talk true

So you believe what People in Ahoada, Emouha, Ogba etc speak is Igbo? Can you relate with them linguistically?

igbo isn't a major language in Akwa Ibom

Be Sincere can you understand Ekpeye?
Ekpeye is Igboid just like itshekiri is yoruboid
But every other places that I listed are very clear Igbo variants that are intelligible with the rest of Igbo dialects.

Argue with proof. Not blindly.

In other words, Igbos were conquered by the Igalas and driven away from their ancestral land.

Wonderful! How small ethnic group dominating the big one (Igbo).

So it's not only Hausas (conquered by Fulanis) and Yorubas - Ilorin (conquered by Fulanis);

There are ZERO igbo tribe in Akwa Ibom and cross River, when i say Zero i mean zero, tag me to any thread you find please, mention me... Akwa Ibom has majorly Ibibio, annang and Oron... There is a side that is close to abia that has some semblance bilut there is no single tribe that speaks igbo in akwa-cross

That's not true. There is a large Igbo indigenous population in Akwa-Ibom. I can take you there, if you pay for transport.

I'm talking of native names or are you saying the listed names are not indigenous to Ikwerre or is Rotimi also indigenous to Ikwerre?

Of course.
Ogwu ikpelle in Ogbaru in Anambra will relate with Ọgba better than most other Rivers person, same with Oguta.
Ohaji person in Imo will communicate better with Emouha or Ikwerre LGA indigene than say Obio/Akpor or Portharcourt man.

I thought you will add Rotimi to amaechi's name? In Delta state, people from Itsekirri and Urhorobo bear Yoruba names. In Kogi and Edo states they bear Musa, Audu and Mohammed etc.

Musa, Audu and Mohammed etc are Religious/Islamic names,

I am from Abia and my part of Abia has ancestral link with Cross Rivers.

There are indigenous Akwa Ibom around Akwatte area of Abia and there are indigenous Igbos in Akwa Ibom.

There is a town called Ibom in Arochukwu and it has indigenous Ibibios.

The fact you don't know doesn't mean they don't exist.

Its called migration bhro... There is a part in Oron that speaks efik, Predominantly, its called Idua... Ordinarily they are not ancestral to that place, but got there through trade, and the owners of the community are always coming to war, that they people there do not own the oil there... Its the same

Lets be honest: there is hardly any state in the South-South that does not have indigenous Igbo population. Yes, MOST of them have refused to identify with Igbos (because Igbos generally have an annoying and disrespectful attitude towards people in their own land) but to say they are not Igbos is not completely correct.

When we come online and try to coerect them, they call us names.. Its better we keep quite... They dont know South Southerners mostly are independent minded folks dat dont like gummy body

Exactly.. I have a Facebook friend that's from there and her name is Onyi Nwa****li, the day she told me that she's from Benue state I doubted her, it took me a while before I was convinced

I've also met a fluent Igbo speaker from Benue state during my school days in UNN and I could not believe it. I originally thought then that she learned the language, it was later that I understood that she was a native Benue person of Igbo ancestry.

Since when did Igbo become major language in Rivers. A language spoken only in Oyigbo and Egbema clan in Onelga is now a major language. See misguided report.

Ikwerre is Igbo. Just like half a dozen other groups.

OP you did a great job. I will add there are Igbo communities in Cross River, most popular being Ika. Go there and you will be shocked the amount of native Igbo people there.

Also there are Igbo communities in Bayelsa. The igbo communities in Bayelsa can be found in Osekwenike, Abuetor and Eke Okpokri villages, all in Sagbama area of bayelsa, they are Igbo of Ukwuani stock, and as such, are of the Anioma igbo clan of the Igbo ethnic group.

Abia also has large Ibibio communties. You cannot seperate Ibibio from Abia. In fact some Abia Igbos are more related to Ibibio in blood than Igbos, like the Abiriba people. Find the picture of Abiriba king, Eze Kalu and compare it to Governor Udom , you will think they are twins...same blood, same people, divided by useless borders

Go home you are drunk!
Igbo in Bayelsa is the most silly thing anyone can ever imagine.
I am very sure you are non compos mentis

CROSS RIVER STATE:
Your list is a mix-up of both languages and dialects, eg. Etung is a dialect of Ejagham language. Another dialect of Ejagham language is Qua though not mentioned in your list. You introduced the term 'tribes', thus making your listing more confusing, why?

However, take note of Ofutop and Ndoeh languages in lkom LGA of the state, that you did not include.
It is a Good Attempt

Pls edit your comment, there is no Igala in Anam or Otuocha. Igala is only in Nzam which is one village in Anambra west LGA. Anam is 100% Igbo, Otuocha is made up of Aguleri, Umuleri and Umuoba Anam and they are 100% Igbo.

And they are settlers in Nzam, being descended from General Ajida or so who invaded Nzam but Igbos later reinforced and reclaimed the land. Nzam has always been originally Igbo.

Do a thorough research before publishing articles like this, don't just do copy and paste.
