Nigerian customs have made several Northerners poor due to the clamp down on smuggling, and the fact that they render services to the smugglers. Most importantly the up coming car dealers that can't afford to pay duty on vehicles they import. 3 Likes |

(Facepalm) Here we go again. Alarmists have come with their petty conspiracy theory. Ipob Modus Operandi: engage in sharp practices, get caught then run to the media to scream marginalisation. Smuggle food, cars and hard drugs. Everything is bizinesi! Okey is a sharp boy. I di sharpu. Is it that difficult for you to do things right? By now, even the UN would be tired of you guys crying wolf after committing crime. 28 Likes 3 Shares

a woman here her goods about 2 20ft container are held - seized by Customs last 2 months I pity her so much, suffering from PB because that's her all and all and being the bread winner of her family. From the look of things her children will drop out school 3 Likes 1 Share |

See, the truth is that the people who import the most are traders. They are mainly igbos. They then have to transport their goods to various places for distribution all over the country to make it available to the end users. Then while clearing, transporting and storing they have many bad encounters with the custom officers. 9 Likes 1 Share |

High tariffs walls are the problem. Customs are just exploiting it. If import duty rates were low, there'd be no problem. Igbo's, all are affected except that you are affected more as you guys trade a lot. It is nothing personal; its strictly business 4 Likes 1 Share |

What business? Are you saying igbos are smugglers? Must everything be trivialized and tribalized? The very closure of the borders is the reason rice farmers in Anambra state are jubilant. Go and ask Coscharis farms. 29 Likes 3 Shares |
