Joker

Often, when movies are overhyped, they culminate into a dumpster fire. Joker is one of the few times I truly appreciated the hype. This film is DARK. With masterful directing, awe-inspiring acting from Phoenix, brilliant OST and cinematography, the plot is crafted in ways to make a person feel dirty, and very uncomfortable. I know I was. It's hard to watch at times, very cringey, but all so mesmerizing, that you'd be hard pressed to blink an eye. In short, it's an emotional rollercoaster in that it's very emotive and dynamic.

Overall, it's a masterpiece, and one of the best movies of the year IMO. It's an astonishing story that calls for more... a sequel, perhaps? I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Phoenix's Joker, we may very well see him in one of the new Batman films... I can but dream!

Your rating is on point, and on per with what fans have been saying in contrast to critics little wonder the IMDB is at an astonishing 9.2/10 why the RT rating is 69% (Still fairly ok in my opinion).

On the matter of a sequel...Boy we can sure dream! Joaquin Phoenix hates any role that will span into a series or sequels. This man auditioned for the role of Red skull , Dr. Strange to name a few but he overlook these roles because couldn't be bothered with movies going on and on. That's why DC agreed for a Standalone "Joker" movie with very little ties to the current DCEU set up, and know no word on Jared leto contract been terminated so he might he yet reprise his role as the Joker in future DCEU titles, and this "Joker" Movie is an origin story, so any further installment will be him meeting the Dark Knight of Gotham and no word on him been on RP's Batman movies yet...But we can certainly hope and dream

Am just glad this movie proved critics wrong and Joaquin Phoenix showed exceptional brilliance like he was born for this role so is time to enjoy this masterpiece as many times as possible and "Put on a happy face"

I understand where the critics are coming from though. Repetition breeds cynicism. An average critic watches tons of movies per year, conversely to an ordinary movie-goer that may watch 9-10 movies per year. Thus, while the movie-goer primary motivations hinge on pleasure, the critic will naturally want more. Optically canvassing so many movies is going to make anyone hyper-observant to things that ordinary movie-goers don't necessarily care about, for instance, plot cliches. I mean, seeing similar writing in different movies over-and-over, would drive even the most agreeable of cinefiles up the walls.


Anyhoo, I hope Phoenix will break routine, and do a sequel. I want to see his version of Joker square off against Pattinson's Batman so bad.

JP has already said that he doesn't really like to do comic book movies esp mcu or dceu. Thats why he rejected the role as doctor strange when marvel approached him back then.

Todd Philips had to convince him that this is something totally different.

If JP is to continue, he would prefer to be separate and continue in DC Black label.

Marvel studios has produced 23 films, can you mention at least 7 that are better than Dark Knight.
