Hi Guys, i just got wind of this forum even though i had earlier proceeded with my own process without any help or assistance. See highlights of what i have done so far and where i am presently: I have written this my time here also https://www.nairaland.com/2986318/new-zealand-skilled-worker-category/15 but found out this particular group have lots of expert on process of migrating to new zealand reason why am joining this discuss with my own journey so far.

1. Did my assessment and found out i had 165 points.

2. Applied to NZQA for PRE for my Msc qualification only being the highest qualification i am claiming point for and also sat for my IELTS exams.
3. Submitted my EOI on 18th January 2019.

4. Got selected and got my ITA on 23rd of january 2019.

5. I was giving 4 months to submit full applications along with supporting documents.

6. Applied to NZQA for my full qualification assessment for both my Bsc and Msc which took some time due to transcript issues with our Nigeria universities.

7. Applied to NZQA for my wife's qualification assessment too since am claiming points for that also.

8. Did my medicals along with my entire family. Note you only have 2 recommended hospitals in nigeria one in abuja and the other in Lagos.

9. Did my Police clearance at alagbon in Ikoyi. You will get your report same day.

10. Gathered all relevant employment references from all the places i have worked before since am claiming points for over 10 years in my EOI.

11. Marriage certificate.

12. I also have to proof i own my wife using my house address number you both receive correspondences together or individually. photos of important events in your marriage life, Air tickets and Hotels reservation of vacation trip you both went for etc.

13. All other documents as requested in the ITA letter.

14. The document gathering process has eaten deep into the 4 months giving to me but eventually i got everything ready at the nip of time.

15. Submitted my application via DHL on April 25th 2019.

16. My application got to the processing center in Manukau Auckland after the 3rd day.

17. My Application was vetted and lodged into their system on 2nd May 2019.

18. My original IELTS results along with 6 photos were returned back to me by mail. Please note any document you are sending and is not the original must be notarized page by page and not just the front page only.

19. I am currently on queue awaiting my application to be assigned to a Case Officer (CO) which depends on so many factors that is currently responsible for the current delay in visa assignment backlogs issues they are facing now.

The initial process was that it takes up to 4 months before the co will be allocated but i guess am already 4 months from when my application was lodged. However it could take up to 6 months or more. It obvious many nigerians are not taking up this route but instead prefer using Study visa which is still a good option.

@femijck and other experts in the house, your assessment or my journey so far will be appreciated.

@Femijck: the question i need to ask is if its true one needs to have a job over to apply for SMC offshore? will it have any significant effect on the outcome of my application when the CO is eventually assigned??.

How do I make payment? Do bank to bank Transfer. It is expensive but it is faster and makes sense
How do I get courier authorization form? This would be send to you by VFS or visit the webpage of VFS and download it. You can email VFS and they'll give you step by step guide
How do I go about pick up of passport since they don’t deliver outside SA? You can contact UPS. They did for us and they know what to request from you. it is very seamless

I'm new on Nairaland but got to know about this platform in July following the response I got from the VAC-SA that my passport was ready for collection 2 days after submission. It was in my worry that some1 sent me this link where I read through the message trails and confirmed that passport verification within days is a norm.

On that note, I say kudos to all those who spare their invaluable time to share vital information on this platform. Indeed, the details clear doubts and give answers to many questions.��

My story is actually long and rigorous but in summary, I submitted my student (PhD) visa application on 28/06, had my 45min. telephone interview at 9.15pm NGT 24/7/2019 = 8.15 NZT 25/7/2019 and to the glory of God, I received my "Approval in Principle" on 24/09 and got the visa on 03/10.

Generally, I would like to encourage all who submitted student visa application to be patient and ensure they respond to their case officers explicitly and on timely note even during the telephone interview.

My special appreciation goes to femijck, ugsams, davodyguy and a pal "bucade11" for their unalloyed support & responses to all prospective NZ migrants..����

I met Femi here and we eventually connected in New Zealand. I can tell you, he's a nice guy.

He actually picked us up in Auckland and took us to places where we shopped in his car at his own cost.

I recommend him as a true friend and brother.

very good advise , learn driving if u don’t drive and make sure u come with a naija license. U can drive with that for a year or do a conversion once u understand the road a bit.
