The All Progressives Congress (APC) has lauded the commitments of both the executive and legislative arms to ensure budget passage is returned to January-December cycle.

The ruling party however, made a veiled reference to the 8th National Assembly co-led by Senator Bukola Saraki and Rep Yakubu Dogara.

APC observed that the conduct of the 9th Legislature during the presentation was a “departure from the usual tensed and adversarial atmosphere of the previous four years.”, Daily Post reports.

Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC National Publicity Secretary, in a statement noted that with the early presentation by the President, the lawmakers have close to three months to consider and pass the budget.

It read: “The proposed 2020 budget is targeted at consolidating on the gains the current administration has made in revamping our power, rail and road infrastructure; diversification and retooling the economy; social intervention programmes targeted at the poor; fight against emerging crimes, insurgency and rehabilitation, rebuilding of the North East particularly through the newly-established North East Development Commission, among other critical interventions.

“According to the President in his budget speech, tagged “Budget of sustaining growth and job creation”, there is a renewed government’s commitment to plugging revenue leakage with the continued strict implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
“We congratulate the leaders of the two chambers of the 9th National Assembly, Senate President Ahmed Lawan and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for creating a convivial environment for the budget presentation exercise,.

“The Party is confident that the patriotic disposition of the leaders and members of the 9th National Assembly would ensure a cordial relationship with the executive arm, which would surely translate to good governance and proper implementation of the administration’s Next Level plans for Nigerians.”

This APC is just so annoyingly petty. They really need to grow up and quit making unnecessary references.
The 8th national assembly did a lot and were never a clog in the wheel of the executive. It was the executive who were and are still clueless on how to effectively run the business of the nation called Nigeria.

There should be a considerable level of Intelligence in accessing the politics of the space called Nigeria . when politicians tend to scheme the people with another wile , I expect it to be clearer for someone at least that was above a teenager when Obasanjo was a civilian president ...

And what benefit will that confer on the citizens which are the objective of these institutions and democracy in general. Stop propaganda. What are the benefits to citizens of a lame duck legislature. Name them. Prove them. Show them.

All you folks want is submission so that you rule like emperors, like kings. The black man cannot organise himself. He needs feudal power. He cannot accept debate. He cannot cannot accept criticism, he cannot accept competition, he cannot live in a cauldron of ideas that is why he lives in darkness because he cannot stimulate problem solving ideas.

Nigeria has a myriad of challenges from security to the economy, from revenue generation to structural imbalances all unsolvable without rigorous debate and a cross fertilisation of ideas. Real democracy assumes no one knows it all. Nigeria democracy assumes the Head of State knows it all and the Legislature exists to append only his ideas...

That is why by 2023 nothing, absolutely nothing will have fundamentally changed, fundamentally improved in Nigeria. So let them continue looking into the rear view mirror at the last Legislature and drive this country into a ditch. It is their calling card to worsen everything.
