There's more involved in becoming a major car manufacturer as you'll have your own in house automotive designers, engineers, etc who work together to create vehicle concepts, shapes and engines.

As of now, they don't own the IP of the vehicles it produced. Innoson should aspire to produce concept vehicles penultimate to a 'new' original product and get more interactive on social media (like Proforce did)

By the way, cars are too expensive. Look at TATA India as an example.

Of course they just flip the design of an another Chinese brand....but the question is are they part manufacturing and assembling it in Nigeria?

When all countries that manufacture vehicles are called will Nigeria stand up?

Yes of course. wink

Besides I saw some images made in Kenya vehicle.... The sight I just to pathetic
Well, about the manufacturing. Hopefully they grow past just body and seats and achieve more than 50% local fittings.

There's no need bringing any other country into this discourse bruv

Expensive? with the harsh economic climate and destitute infrastructure we have, you are talking of price?

Sir... I believe you don't know much about the science of automobile designs...you think all you have to do is sketch it out and voila your design is ready?

That's another aspect of production fam.

Aerodynamics are taken in consideration... Man....its a lot more complicated than you think...

And I've said this on nairaland before.. The owner of Innoson is just being lazy for not being innovative but you can't take it away from him that his company produces vehicles....its good for our military whether you like it or not... And not all parts are imported SIR!
grin You sound like an exasperated sergeant who just can't believe how dumb his superior is cheesy with all these your "sir".

I get your point, and in actually fact, I agree with you that Innoson is very lazy. Getting original designs is a preliminary step and it is one of the easiest in automobile manufacturing. Especially with these civilian vehicles. However,on the producing of cars aspect, well, depends on what you mean by "producing". What I know of Innoson is that, apart from the elementary panel beating of the body and production of the seats and carpets, all the rest are imported and assembled.

We've done this before: Innoson is neither a manufacturer nor assembler! They couple Chinese parts according to a blueprint and stick on the Innoson badge.

They have not done it before.

Kenya does not manufacture anything worthy of note. Nigeria has the largest manufacturing sector in West, East and Central Africa.

Do not apologize for who you are. When in doubt, ask for assistance. Knowledgeable Nigerians will assist you with evidence.

Our Defence and Motor industry is unmatched through out West, East and Central Africa, only South-Africa has a larger manufacturing base than Nigeria in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Innoson exports nearly 1,000 cars each year.

Rome was not built in a day?"........ This expression doesn't apply to Nigerian manufacturing sector.

We have built more than 1 million Rome's in the last 19 years.

Be proud.

President Buhari's Federal government has bought thousands of Innoson vehicles in the last 4 years, including for the Presidency, military and government parastatals.

Private Nigerians including, hundreds of transport companies continue to patronize them.

Proforce defence is also another company getting lots of government deals. I visited a state in the South, and could count more than 7 Proforce PF2s in the state used by the police and FSARS.

How people still have the conscience to come up here and compare their military to ours is amazing

How the heck does does looking better translate to better capabilities

Houthis armed with flip flops will beat the crap out of such foolishness grin

Even better armed does not translate into better capabilities unless accompanied by relevant tactics on the ground
