SSanwo-Olu Assures On N50.3bn Lagos Adiyan Waterworks Project

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday said his administration has concluded plans to revive the N50 billion Adiyan Waterworks Phase11 project that would supply seventy million gallons of water daily to the residents when completed.

The governor who stated this after carrying out on the spot assessment of the water plants said completion of the project would help to alleviate poverty in the state.

The governor explained that since access to potable water by the residents remained one of the indices of measuring Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), his administration would give priority attention to the completion of the project.

He said, “This is a 70 million per day water treatment plant when fully completed, meaning 330 ,000 cubic metric tons per day this would be the biggest of its type any where around Nigeria. This project was started a couple of years back by my predecessor Mr. Babatunde Fashola.

“But we are here now and we have seen it. The commitment on our side is to see how we can complete this project on time as much as possible on budget.

“Its being a very long journey, the contractor are committed to see how we complete this project within 18 months our government commitment is that we will work with them so the contractor Messr Salini Nigeria Ltd, their consultant and the Staff and management staff of Lagos State Water Corporation.

“You can imagine if we are able to bring about 70 million gallons of water to the residents additional to what we already have in Lagos.

“The production is one stage of it, the second stage of it which we quickly want to award is the reticulation. That is to take the water to almost every part that we desire. To as far as Lagos Island. ”

He said his administration will ensure that the water plants are running for the benefit of Lagos residents.

Sanwo-Olu added that there is urgent need to make additional new investment in reviving the water plants to improve the out put of clean water production.

The governor noted that though they have fourteen pumps running in Akute, Ogun water intake facility, the state government will build additional pump for Adiyan Water Plant 11 still under construction.

He said the state government will come out with a robust financial model to change some of the obsolete machines he said were installed over two decades ago.

The total neglect of Fasola's projects was the most grievous sin Ambode committed, IMO.

Ditto Ilubirin housing scheme, how he left those mass-oriented projects to rot is mind-boggling.

He not only abandoned his predecessor's projects but also destroyed LAWMA, Lagos isn't as clean as it used to be.

Sanwo Olu should just do the needful.

Ambode broke up everywhere and did not complete anywhere. He started nowhere and ended nowhere. Look at Badagry road. He foolishly abandoned the road. It is a Lagos project, initiated by APC under any previous name, still and APC state government project. The white elephant (Oshodi interchange) project may not be completed. Look at the pen cinema bridge. It has been overtaken by weeds. What a shame!

Mr Governor, fix the roads first.
Almost all the roads in Lagos are in comatose.
The average lagosians have access to water.
Misplaced priorities.

Don’t mind him. He seems to me a very confused accidental Governor.
No plans , no focus. He’s just running a directionless Government.
5 months after inauguration, nothing to show for the trust repose in him by the electorates.

I doubt if people are telling sanwo olu the truth. Lagosian are really angry. Sincerely. The roads are bad, traffic everywhere, no good news coming from Lagos again and you are talking about water facility. I think this govt need to forget godfatherism and get rid of baba isale must be happy politics.

Honestly, people are too greedy. What is the gain if your looted wealth can not put a smile on an ordinary common man. Am not surprise though. Agberos We more important in Lagos than majority of Lagosians.

Maybe is not even well.

There's a deliberate attempt by the government in all corners of Nigeria to impoverish the citizens. Poverty has been weaponised in our country. That is why a governor would rather donate to a church, perform a thanksgiving there than actually invest in state economy or infrastructure. A good example is Sanwo-Olu, jumping from one church to another on Sundays in the name of "thanksgiving" with absolutely nothing to show for it.

Keep the population ignorant. Keep them poor. Then let them have religion as the only source of "enjoyment." And they will keep praying for a standard life while you continue to siphon the commonwealth.

Note how the most 'happiest' countries have virtually non-existent religious presence/population.

Is this another Adiyan water works or an extension of it? This project was contracted in the 90s by one of these international organizations to a Japanese firm (sakamori) during the military era. How come is he saying Fashola started it.

Sorry o,It is the phase 2

Who's job was it and who was responsible?

Not Ambode right?

...but under Sanwo Olu, he is responsible because he's the governor even though he's spent less than 4 months in office and Ambode who spent 4 years in office and abandoned roads, housing estates, hospitals, waterworks, schools, mother and child centers, Lagos metro rail, Lagos Badagry expressway and on and on is not responsible, he was only responsible for 3 flyover bridge in 4 years even though Fashola before him built equal number of flyovers, Lekki Ikoyi bridge, still the best bridge in West Africa, waterworks, housing estates, hospitals, power plants, skills centers, drivers institutes, health centers, largest court in Nigeria, started 10 lane Lagos badagry expressway, started Lagos metro rail and so on.

This is why Igbos hardly make sense, they are used to mediocrities like lining up on the side of the road roadside kerosene sharing kind of governance.

Sanwoolu is a huge joke.

Lagosians would soon realize that the man has zero plans.

He was forced on you late September, 2018. He was to be made Chief of staff to Hamzat, before they made a U turn again, that Hamzat too can't be trusted.

Imagine Sanwoolu saying, he would start fixing roads after the rains. Can you ask him which roads? All the roads at the same time or in segments?

When Ambode can, he listed 114 roads in all 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs and he actually completed all before March, 2017. He started the Phase2, but was not allowed to complete it.

This clown who would be guided on what and what not to do for 4 years is the one people are hailing?

Has anyone seen Sanwoolu's agenda?

It's because he has none
