He did not show the club any more than Pelle who had gone neck and neck with Barca the season before Mou. Mou's CV and the fact that everyone knew it will take more than 2 seasons to catch up is the reason he was left after Pelle. When it was clear from Mou's 3rd season that Barca had come back untop...they kicked him out.

They didn't buy Kaka and Ronaldo to win la liga.Those guys were bought for 2 reasons.The main being that they saw Barca was taking over Europe and had moved differently in terms of how they played their football,in terms of club and player structure etc.They needed to do the same.That's why they were heavily criticised at that time for spending when Barca were using their own products

The second reason was UCL.Again this was a competition they were exiting at the r16 and they didn't really make a move to remedy the situation.This was the period EPL teams were dominating the competition. All of a sudden change in structure at Barcelona in just 1 year already saw them move from finishing 3rd in la liga to winning the UCL.The standards were already set and Madrid needed to be up and running again.

All this reasons are why Spanish teams have dominated Europe for the past decade.Pep revolutionized that country's football landscape.The competition between the 2 clubs not necessarily on the field but in terms of how they play,mentality etc is what has been seen for at least 10 years now

I am not sure you know what the 2009/10 season was. Just look up the numbers and compare it to Mou's 2010/11 season with RM.

You are also missing the point by a mile. Even if Pelle had gotten to the UCL SFs, they would have fired him for Mou because one was a proven winner of the title. But Mou needed to show there was hope. He said so - winning Copa Del Rey "Over Barca" made it a receipt. Had it been any other team it would not have counted.

Then next winning the league was proof they were making the transition. The next drop was winning the UCL. That is why as soon as he failed, they edged him out for Carlo who was another UCL proven winner.

As I said any rookie manager would've done this with that squad.It was nothing exceptional. I can do it too.Having Raul,Guti,Benzema,Kaka ,Ronaldo etc and coming 2nd in the league and going trophyless,getting dumped in the r16 of UCL over an unknown Pique,Busquet and shambolic Valdez was not down to any high profile manager.He was terrible and was booted out accordingly.They spent all that money for nothing.

How can Madrid sack a manager that won them copa del rey over Barcelona and took them to their first UCL semi final in how many years??Maybe according to investments made,he should have been sacked. But based on how they were the past 5 years and what he did in just 1 season,they were right to retain him and this is where the rebuilding started
