Good day.... I have a bachelors degree in social work and i want to run a masters program in Canada. Irecently applied 4 a masters program at University of Manitoba, and I am also Considering university of British Columbia and Carlton. Note: since I have a degree in social work already, I am eligible for a one year advanced masters program in social work, thus reducing my pgwp to only one year. I want to stay back after the pgwp. My question is this, I read that those in IT fields find it easy to get jobs there, will I be able to get one as a social worker after the pgwp having in In mind that I am a foreigner and i have no knowledge of French(most jobs may require the social worker been fluent in French) ? |

Pily: Where do you get this information from?? You don't need to understand French to get a social worker job!!! In Canada unless you're working in Québec. Also there are jobs everywhere especially outside the tech circle. Make up your mind and get reliable facts please. |

holllowu: Go to the closest court house and sign the legal documents to be married. All other ceremonies can happen later on. You marriage has to be legal in your country of residence and am not sure common law partner is a legal status in Nigeria. 1 Like |

Pily: If you end up going to Manitoba, you can apply for provincial nomination after 6mths or after getting a job in social works immediately after graduation. The province would extend your work permit after you successfully get nominated. Processing time officially is 6mths for Mpnp. If you end up in Ontario then indeed it may be more difficult to get a job(varies depending on individual). So you may have to leave after your pgwp expires and apply for Express entry from outside the country. Or you may be lucky and things work out for you on the job front. In both provinces, its advisable to work as a residential support worker in a foster home during your social work training so that you would have some form of Canadian experience that you could use later when applying for the social work position. Speaking for Manitoba, such jobs arent difficult to get as a student whether you live in Winnipeg or outside the city hub. 4 Likes |

Hello everyone. A big thank you to everyone making this forum very active and informative. Please when Reapplying for study permits for an application initially denied cos VO " felt he might not come back". Do I need the police clearance certificate. Though in the first application I didn't do any police thing. Is it necessary now? Appreciate the time and effect in ur kind responses. |

holllowu: Yes, you can if there is any proof that both of you have been in such relationship like family pictures both of you are, joint ownership, business, bills payment or any legal document etc otherwise there won't be any need. 1 Like |

Qudkom:thanks dear. My statement was based one of the criteria I read from one of the universities I tried applying. Thanks for clarifying. I have made up my mind it's just that I want to be sure of the possibility of soughting my self out b4 the expiration of the one year pwgp, I hoped I would get a 3years pgwp but it turned out its likely a year. 1 Like |

echelonfashion:No, police clearance is not a requirement, whether first time or reapplication. Although you can add it if you feel like but I'm not sure it matters unless it's one from a foreign country you've been in. 1 Like |

echelonfashion: Police clearance certificate is not a compulsory requirement. Not including any in your application doesn't have any effect on your application. You can go ahead and submit other supporting documents to further buttress the fact that you will leave Canada at the completion of your studies. |

echelonfashion: It's not compulsory to write an LOE provided that the SOP have adequately tackled ALL the concerns raised by the visa officer in the GCMS note as well as the generic refusal grounds.. On the other hand, if the SOP hasn't done justice to the refusal reasons stated, then an LOE should suffice. 1 Like |

This question has been answered times without number.. If you are a first time applicant, u just need an SOP. But if you have been refused before , then u need to add an LOE to ur re-phrased and improved SOP.. LOE is simply to show the VO that u have "tackled" the reasons stated in ur previous application.. Even tho they ain't compulsory, they are very necessary.. And please take ur time to write both documents, do nt rush things.... peace Ayodeji786: |

Hi, I don't know if someone else has responded. I suggest you go with either a paper copy of your bank statement or an e-copy. Most students are being asked for this at immigration, especially undergraduate students. Good luck mzjokky16: |
