Hello everyone. Please, is it possible for an international student to apply for the Spouse Open Work Permit (SOWP) for ones spouse when s/he is already in Canada on a visiting Visa? Would it be required that s/he leaves Canada first before such an application could be granted? |

Jus4c: Yes, its very possible even if s/he is on visiting visa and there wouldn't be any need for the spouse to leave Canada before the SOWP is granted. Go ahead and apply for your spouse. Good luck! |

JustMellow:In this case, will the spouse application said to be from inside Canada or applying from outside Canada since the person is a visitor.? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by JustMellow: 10:41am On Oct 15, 2019 |
Obehi44: It will be treated as an application within Canada. It should be noted that if an international students on a valid SP wants to bring their spouse to Canada, they can either apply for a Visit visa for their spouse and getting there before applying for a SOWP for them or apply for SOWP directly for them outside Canada |

Bad economy state of the country and some fortunate Nigerians that acted against their stay conditions contributed to the negative outcome of the cic. So to know the true student its just like a camel going through the eyes of a needle, that is why intending student are even confused of the document to add to evident their true intention, my pal dey tell me say what about to add tv receipt, laptop receipt and future wedding invitation card, lolz. bennyg24: 3 Likes 1 Share |

dekere:the later part of your comment really got me laughing but on a serious note IRCC should just make their conditions of giving study permit clear to Nigeria applicants, perhaps making it compulsory for Nigerian applicants to pay first year tuition for those without funding. making it compulsory to deposit first year living expenses with a Canadian bank(like German block account or something). that way those qualified will know what they are bringing before application. 2 Likes |

This thread seems boring this days, i pray we encounter positive things this remaing days of the year..amen. pleae how do i track my application. I submitted through paper route on 28th of september. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Obehi44: 4:32pm On Oct 15, 2019 |
Yes its now boring and that is because of the refusal rate. Many people who are here didn't even write about their refusal, if not it would have been worse. Like the other monika said, let them give us conditions and requirements no matter how hard or strict. If you meet the conditions, then you can be giving. They are the reason why people lie in their applications and documents. Make it simple but strict and hard. Eg, Pay the whole tuition fee if the program is less than maybe 2yrs. Pay 50% of the entire tuition fee if the program is more than 2yrs. Pay $10k LE into a Canadian bank account. Pay visa fee. ALL NONE REFUNDABLE Meet other requirements (Home ties depending on the applicant's age or marital status). Then you are good to go. They should stop all these "personal assets and financial status" "Travel history" "Employment situation or employment status" "Purpose of visit" etc. And inform countries when they have reached their limit for a particular period. I am sure many will meet it and many may not. 10 Likes |

Pearlvic:if You want to go for dispatch in Canada You won't be needing a study permit as its a 6weeks training and convincing a visa officer will be hard ooooh so prepare to work really hard. Enrolling is easy, use google to find an aviation school. |

I have read other people's input as regards this ur post, and I can say I cant agree less.. But to me from my observation from last year ,the problem is the Nairobi Visa officers, I have this feeling they personally hate Nigeria applicants. Since when they have been in charge of study permit applications from Nigeria, we have seen very little rate of approval... For those of us that have been on this thread for over 1 year, we all know even when London and LAGOS were giving approvals anyhow like water then, these same Nairobi demons(Yes I call them demons cos they dnt have Joy) will still refuse any application dt comes their way, even if the application is super tight... Am not surprised of the rate of refusals now, immediately I learnt late last year that Nairobi will be in charge of Nigeria study permit, I knew we were in for it.. Since ma presence on this thread for over 2 years, I have never seen the rate of study permit refusals in this manner, and this is simply because the DEMONS themselves are in charge.. They only approve 1 application in like 20 applications.. I just pray the incoming Prime minister will be kind enough to do something about it, cos if not then it can only get worse... God help us.. Peace bennyg24: |

JustMellow: Thanks for your response. How feasible is it to apply for a study permit while inside Canada? I mean for an individual who already has a visitor visa to Canada, later applied and got admitted to a university in Canada. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by dekere: 6:20pm On Oct 15, 2019 |
Its workable if you have visitors record, however a Nigerian once told me that her relative did it on flag pole and the study permit was approved and issued with all supporting documents which I am yet to confirm. Jus4c: |

dekere: Thanks. I am actually in a city in the USA very close to Canada. I am considering continuing my studies in Canada due to ease of immigration after studies: H1-B Visa sponsorship is getting more difficult to come by these days . Getting a Canadian visitor visa from the USA here is very easy. 2 Likes |

If will suggest you apply for Study permit straight from US as you presently have a status. Jus4c: |

The road has never been smooth, you can ask anyone who is in Canada, it gets tougher in your first three to six months here so brace up. If your dream is to study in Canada, never give up. If you have been refused reapply but this time make it stronger. If you are just in the process of applying take your time and do it right. Yes people are being refused everyday the same way people are getting visa everyday. Let's just take our time and make sure we handle issues well. Just hope and prepare well l, don't hesitate to ask questions too, trust me you will get it even if it means coming late. Wish you all the best. 6 Likes |
