With all the efforts of the present administration to encourage the cultivation, production and consumption of locally produced rice, one reoccurring complaints from Nigerians is the presence of stones in the rice.

Many people will even accept to pay more for a foreign rice over a cheaper local ones. Some dubious marketers have even gone to the extent or rebagging local rice as foreign.

I wish to call on the government Local, States and the Federal to invest in establishing state-of-the-art modern Rice Mills. Even private businesses can own one, especially in States with rice farming. Also existing Mills needs to be upgraded immediately.

I believe a well processed local Nigerian Rice will encourage patronage and consumption.

Proudly Nigerian.

Nice suggestions.. FG should also try to regulate the price of the local rice..

Enough of everything foreign foods..

The day a brother told me that the way they preserved the normal Turkey we buy is not different from embalming dead bodies .. I fear

This is a very good call by the OP.
It is always good to see we still have reasonable and positive people like this on this forum.
This is one of the way a nation will move forward.
Not like some people that bitterness and frustration is the order of the day in their miserable lives and are willfully blind to see any good thing.

Thumbs up OP.
Nigeria will be great again in our lifetime.
We are on the right track.

God bless you.
God bless Nigeria.

There is no kudos until we are self sustainable. How can you close the border when we can't produce enough consumption metric tons for the populace?

Very timely. I was in an eatery yesterday and this was a major complaint about Nigerian rice- stones. If we must consume locally patriotically, then quality should not be overlooked.

how can we produce enough if we dont close the border? Its like the question of the chicken or the egg, which comes first?

Moreover, the border closure has nothing to do with banning rice. Rice has been banned for long. its only smugglers that are having a field day smuggling it in. Moreso once the smuggling continue people would not be serious in increasing the cultivation because there wont be the demand fot it.
