What's up with your constant miss-spelling of SANDF?

Certainly wouldn't say I make that mistake constatantly, but nonetheless, I appreciate the correction.

Absolutely. Not a single soft skinned vehicle in sight, coordinated movement and excellent battlefield medicine. Apart from IED attacks, it would be suicidal for anyone to attempt an ambush on that convoy.

Those South-African APCs are from 35 - 40 years ago during the days of Apartheid. They are not engaged in a 9 years insurgency like Nigeria.

They haven't purchased a new APC in 30 odd years.

Their deal to purchase Patria IFVs is already 3 years behind schedule.

Those 30 year old APC are still being sold TODAY!!! In terms of protection they still rival even the newest of MRAPs on the market.

In fact those old Casspirs have the best mine protection of any APC currently on the market..... And that's the facts talking not my opinion.

Thank you for not disputing my post.

The SADF can move in large armour because their has been no wear & tear of their equipment.

to the contrary I'm definitely disputing your post since those 30 year APCs have done a fantastic job against insurgent groups like the M23, ADF ect ect.

What I'm not disputing is the fact that project hoefyster has fallen behind schedule.

The only reason Nigerian Army can't move in such convoy is mainly because of corruption and lack of visionary leaders.

The people who import those soft skin hilux for NA must be smiling to bank every week.

Nigeria deploys to various UN missions. Eg in Mali, Gambia, Sudan, Liberia etc.

The SADF has not seen active combat on the scale of the insurgency in Nigeria, Egypt or even Algeria.

Engaging in small UN peacekeeping missions is not enough to test the sustainability of your equipment.

This is the fact.

I don't doubt there is corruption in Nigeria.

How many APCs have we purchased since Yar'Adua?

There is also massive corruption in South-Africa, why do you think their Patria IFV purchase is delayed?

The SA army has not purchased any new APCs since 40 years ago. Most of that equipment were purchased when they were fighting in Angola.

You doubt there is corruption in Nigeria!?

You probably must have heard of the case between P&ID and the Nigerian government. Well they were military contractor before they cable into oil and gas.

They ran scams with top military generals that ran into millions if not billions of dollars importing military hardware at cutthroat prices.

I don't doubt means I do not dispute. I agree there is, there is an affirmation.

I'm asking do you know the numbers of APCs we have purchased from Yar'Adua till today?

You cannot just say it is because of corruption. Corruption exists everywhere including in South-Africa.

Firstly It's the SANDF not the SADF

Secondly SA has been deployed to Mali, S Sudan, DRC, CAR, Mozambique, Lesotho in recent times with the SANDF soldiers seeing extensive combat in CAR, Mali, S Sudan and the DRC.

Infact Monusco is the largest and one of the most dangerous peacekeeping mission in the world..... Not just some small UN peacekeeping mission.

The SANDF also carries out numerous exercises each year..... So your assumption that our equipment is not tested is incorrect.

You are not deployed in Mali.

MINUSMA mission is the world's most dangerous UN mission. The Nigerian army and police are deployed there.

You had a training mission in the CAR, and if I can remember correctly, it did not go well for you.

Tanzania and Malawi are deployed alongside the South-African army in the DRC. Ukraine also supplies helo support.

Lesotho is a tiny patch of land completed surrounded on all sides by South-Africa.

Mozambique is a humanitarian mission, you sent helicopters there to rescue people from flood.

South-Sudan is a mainly Uganda led mission, at least when the fighting was at it's peak.

You don't get ambushed or bombed by adversaries whose intent is to kill you in a training exercise.

Please don't be disingenuous, you don't have to lie. I am not happy with the insurgency in Nigeria.

To claim that your vehicles are in top notch when you don't field them in large combat operations is a blatant lie.

Nigeria has purchased nearly 500 APCs in the last 9 years, including 47 units from South-Africa.

The fact is for a middle-income country, to deploy only armour in the middle of an insurgency is not possible.

Take the Syrian army as a good example.

Can you provide evidence that the bulk of the armour of the South-African army is not from 30 - 40 years ago?
