I just have to laugh at the young ones like you thinking by bringing up Maradonna not winning the Champions league diminish or even touches his legacy. It's a silly attempt of trying to be smart.

Lol prime Maradonna and de Lima will piss all over this era.

The Serie A of the 80's and 90's was like watching teeth being pulled unless you were being treated to a proper, top class attacker or forward because the defenses were so good, tactical and cynical, that nothing but the top brass could get any change out of them.

Batistusta, Baggio, Del Piero and so forth had it really hard and it was a genuine acheivement for a lone player to outfox such a collection of mean, hard-nosed defenders who played every game like their life depended on it. Ask kimbeast or any person who watched Seria a then.

That's why when Ronaldo went there and ripped the piss out of the league it caused an absolute uproar. Before he got there all the defenders and football experts were saying he'd not be the same player in Italy as he was in Spain because he wouldn't be allowed to play in the same manner. They were right. He was even better in Italy than he was in Spain because he became a playmaker and link man as well as the goal-scorer, whilst in Spain, it was all about giving Ronaldo the ball and watching him run to goal and convert. Do you research on why Maradonna is called a demi god in Naples.

The likes of Van Basten and Gullit were booted and kicked so frequently in Serie A that it forced early retirement for Van basten who retired 29 and caused Gullit to have countless time out with one injury or another. It was a mean, hard-nosed league. Doing the business there carried more merit than any other league.

The late 80's and 90's Serie A may have had the biggest concentration of imported, world-class talent a league has ever seen. It was the place to be if you wanted to make your mark and sides in Spain and England had to do a lot more AND beat at least a couple of Italian teams to be taken seriously.
When United beat Juventus of the mid 90's, who were seen as the best side in the world, it catapulted us to a completely new level of world renown and global recognition as a footballing force. It announced us as big time player again.

If the likes of Shearer and Bergkamp had done what they did in Italy rather than England at that time they'd be held in much higher regard now than just good players.

Ronaldo going there and shaking that league to the core was like something out of a science fiction flick. Maradonna at Napoli also. Before and after Maradonna Napoli are shitts. If you think these O.G's won't rip apart this silly era I nothing to say to you.
So many half truths.

A lot of misconceptions about the Maradona and Napoli situation.

He did well but the exaggerations are out of this world.

Before Maradona, Napoli had some decent spells and were top 5 team in Italy for many seasons.

In 1984 they had an investment sort of like what Man City had and rebuilt the squad with Maradona and others like Ciro Ferrara, Salvature Bagni, Fernando De Napoli.

A lot of people like you even think that Napoli used to languish at 10th position, bought Maradona and pow!, went on to win the league the very next season.

NO THEY DID NOT!

They went trophyless for 2 seasons before they finally won serie A after rebuilding.

As for De Lima, how many goals did he score in the Serie A in a season?

Kpata Kpata 42 goals.

We are talking about players scoring 65 to 70 goals per season.

Abeg rest joor.

Defence or not,
Messi and Ronaldo are the greatest goal scorers in the history of the sport.

LMFAO........Andoni Goicoechea, “The Butcher of Bilbao”, The guy who broke Maradonas ankle and damaged ligaments. I think he received a 16 match ban. Goicoechea even spent the following months boasting about the tackle and laughing at Maradona. Goicoechea then had the boots he was wearing when he assaulted Maradona put into a galss box and had them on display in his home. These people actually think Maradonna and de Lima won't destroy this era of moi moi defending and defenders.

Some people need to know that Messi is not normal. They think Messi's abnormality is dependent on the mediocrity of today's defenders. However, they are mistaken because the mere fact that Messi is abnormal indicates that today's defenders are never mediocre.

Apart from Messi and C. Ronaldo who score an unimaginable number of goals, who else does?

So, it's preposterous to think that Messi is this great because defenders are not doing enough.

You can talk about you Cristiina but De Lima is beneath Leo Messi.

De Lima Lima was great but,

The fact that he's an OG matters very little to me in this case.

Here is Mourinho on De Lima just few days ago.

"However, if we are talking strictly about talent and skill, nobody surpasses Ronaldo [Nazario].
"When he was at Barcelona with Bobby Robson, I realized that he was the best player I'd ever seen take to the field.

"Injuries killed a career that could have been even more incredible, but the talent that that 19-year-old boy had was something incredible.

People tend to overstate Ronaldinho abilities because of his uniquely exaggerated futsal-inspired style with tricks and flicks (which often made him look sexier on the ball than others who could do the same in a much more efficient way) and happy-go-lucky nature. Anybody that says he is more talented than fat ronaldo is either clueless or just being mischievous.

Alaye Jor Jor Jor. You didn't watch De Lima stop trying too hard. De Lima Ronaldo when fit was untouchable. When pre injury R9 had a good side around him he basically won everything, as top scorer.
He won all Copa Americas he started in, destroying the competition. Messi cannot even beat Chile for instance. He reached 2 World Cup finals in a row, that He carried Brazil at the age of 21 in France, if not for the convulsion he could have won 2 for 2 also.
Ronaldo's explosive genius and unparalleled dominance during his peak years won't make me shittt on Ronaldinho who too produced magic on a regular basis and at his best was spectacular but de Lima and Ronaldinho are not mates in anything. Stop being ignorant and take correction. The only O.G better than De lima in talent and ability is Maradonna.

I don't know how anyone can say Ronaldinho was more naturally gifted or talented, when the direct comparison is against De Lima fuckinggggg Ronaldo.. Ronaldo had all of Ronaldinho's tricks up his bag, but could pull them off going at the speed of lightening. That's something you can't teach. That guy is obviously trolling....LMFAO.

GOAT is not determined by your criteria.

You are entitled to your own list.

But millions of fans beyond the 234 should speak as well.
