It been said on this thread numerous time, if you have in xcess $273.97 Tbills, less than that MMF

Good evening everyone,

This may not be the right place to ask this question, but I can't think of any other place since I'm already familiar with this thread. I'm serving, and currently receiving a monthly stipend of 60k (19,800 plus state allowance).

I intend to save everything but I don't know the best savings plan I can go for. Someone suggested piggybank to me but I'm not sure if there are better options for savings. I also have an idea about ARM MMF. Please advise.

That is the beauty of Tbills investment. chop interest and wait for principal not wait to chop interest and principal.

Jesus Christ. If someone like you with an above average lifestyle by Nigerian standards is making such plans, then what will someone like us gain by not thinking about it.
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Jesusbabygirl(f): 6:55pm On Oct 17, 2019
It's too easy for them cos like CBN said earlier only 5% of Nigerians have above 500k in their accounts. [/quote]Jesu! Are you serious? That is scary. There is truly high level of poverty in Nigeria.

Am sure 28k dols has more buying power in america than 10m Nigerian money in Nigeria. Na big money sha .but can it get u a piece of land in asaba core area abi lekki or VGC or banana island or eko Atlantic city...

Or can it build u a duplex or buy a brand new 2019 Toyota camry. Regular things we should be able to afford.

Am not boasting but 10m can only ensures u live a management life. Like build a small bungalow in a low cost area with moderate finishing and epileptic power supply cos a15kva Mikano generator is around 6m.

Not easy to come by but doesn't guarantee anything big.....so to me, na small money.
Wait o, even 28k cannot buy you land in the US (well, people nor dey buy land sha, na house dem dey buy). But whichever way, you would need $120k to buy a moderate house in the US. Anyway you look at it, whatever $28k will get you here, N10M will get you in naija too

And you think 28k can buy a house or brand new car in the USA?

Nigeria is more cheaper than the US.

What I know is in US low earner live a better life, stable everything unlike Nigeria.....
I dont think 28k is enough to pay down payment on mortgage of 500k usd house and that money will go a long way in Nigeria.
100% correct. Things are "cheaper" in Nigeria - "cheaper" because although they cost less, your overall cost of living (because of providing everything for yourself) is higher. Also, like you said, houses cost upwards of $100k. The only reason a lot of people buy houses here is because the mortgage market works (at low rates, for very long tenors). So people have houses early in life but pay for it throughout their working life. That is the reason Americans get depressed during recession - many people can't pay their mortgage, etc. Wish we had a mortgage market in naija so people don't save till they are old before they can buy land.

See wiith $120k u can get a house in the USA abi, but do u buy mikano, diesel, pay aboki, buy jeep cos of bad roads, and still sleep with one eyes open.

No comparison, ur $28k is far more meaningful in the USA than in naija.

It's very possible. But since the one for this week is concluded already, another opportunity will come in two weeks. Precisely go to your bank latest by 29th of Oct. and apply by completing the primary market auction form. Most of the fellows here uses FBN and IBTC banks

And if you tell us to do population control through family planning, they will bring in religion. The imam/muslim will tell you he is not subject to our common law, but rather shariah law that permits him to have many wives and produce many kids as he so wishes.
The Catholic will also tell you condom is not allowed in his faith.
The idea of 30yrs time and our population hitting 300million with this same set of thieving politician is scary, very scary.
I wonder how Lagos will look like by then.

Please urgent advice is needed.
So I decided to do Tbills and I went to fcmb to open an account to that effect. my acct no was given to me dat day, but do to my acct official is a family friend n also acct official to my family members. she started telling me stories abt my plan to invest on tbill, dat she will not advice me to so. So I abandoned d acct and switched over to stanbic.
At stanbic it took me a week and just to get my account number dat I hv to visit d bank on two occasions to know why my acct number is not yet out. I don't know if is cos I told my account official my plan to invest on tbill with d account or just protocol.
I finally got d acct number. so when I submitted my offer to d lady at the customer care whom I use to complain to when I was trying to gt my acct number, she started being dis unprofessional friendly. To the extent d day I went to collect my certificate, she started telling me dat I must hv their app on my phone. When I gav her my phone to install d app, she took a shot with my phone and even mandated me not to delete the pic and dat she will check it the next time I visit d bank.
Just dis evening I received a call from the lady dt opened the account for me which is my account official asking me of how she can locate my house. Saying dat the people dy sent to verify my address couldn't located my house, I told her I don't understand dat I hv not heard of address verification from my other banks and dat I will visit d bank tomorrow for clarification. she too me is not necessary dat she will come by her self to do the verification and to forward my address to the head office.
Seriously am not understanding anymore is all dis really still part of the banking process or should I be concern and pls what should I do?
