LARRIDE,

You are very ignorant for making this comment and let me warn you, do not comment on my post ever again. You must be a very rude fellow and I was thinking otherwise until now. This is your last warning.

What controversy did you see in the DPR recruitment? Did they not follow the laid down procedures just like this recruitment? Or was it the purported merit list that was flying around that you call controversy? How dumb of you!
When I write anything, please never quote me again. If you believe it, it’s fine. If you don’t it’s fine. But NEVER you insult me in your entire life again . I never said the recruitment was cancelled but we should pray against it being cancelled because some people want the recruitment cancelled which is a fact.

Same way I wrote here in July that the recruitment was suspended and some of you were rejecting it and two months down the line you all realized it was true and started echoing the same thing.

From your words here,I can see you think like a child , please we are not mates. I did not even apply for supervisor cadre so that should tell you we are not mates. That we joke here sometimes does not mean we should throw caution to the wind when addressing ourselves. I advice you keep yourself busy. I assure you can’t keep half of this same energy you exude here when you see some of us in person. Be guided !

Dear Larride,
There's what we call contextual usage... In law, when the judge or magistrate asks the parties involved to maintain status quo, it means that any activity that was on going should stop... No further activities should take place on the existing state of affairs. So that when the case is finally decided, the object in question would still have value to the winner, because the usage or the progressive activities on that subject or object can be detrimental.

Let's say we are contesting ownership over a car, and the land is in your custody, the court would order that you maintain status quo, and that means you should stop any further activity on that land, if you were building and the house is at lintel level, you are not to add one more block to that house, so that when the matter is decided and I win the matter, I won't have a full house to bring down or I won't be given a Herculean task by how you built the said house.

Well posited

May that lawyer succeed. He's fighting a right cause - justice and peace. Ageism is a crime against humanity. If a 75 year old man is not too old to become a Nigeria's president then a 30 year old and above should not be considered overaged for a job.

We grow at our own pace. Not everybody graduates at 24-25 years. Poverty, strike actions and other factors can be responsible for this. For the GT applicants that are against Lawyer Olajengbesi, don't be selfish. Someone above 30 years is still strong and young. They can also work. That energy they are preventing them to use profitably due to ageism may be diverted into crimes. And everyone will be a victim of ageism in the long run.

Uncle cavalier I dey greet o .....has there been any new update from ur end.....

Cavalier:
Hello Chukxx,
How are you doing today?I have been away from the thread for about a week so I just saw this comment today.
As regards the recruitment, I believe the alerts being received by applicants show that the Executive have started taking action on the process after the committee formed to look at the list sent their report last week.
At this point, no one has any further update as it lies within the purview of the President who doubles as the Minister of Petroleum. The payments show that the new salary scale has been approved as Panalyst and a few others have said here and an order has been given for the process to continue and bring it to its logical conclusion which will be the release of the list of successful applicants.
It is not true however, that all those being paid the transport allowances are the successful ones.I can safely say that it is just the corporation trying to conclude that aspect of the recruitment.
Someone also mentioned in his/her comment on this thread that the Presidency is too big to bother about something as little as NNPC recruitment; that assertion is faulty because as the main cash cow of the country, everything about it is of huge importance to the government of the day.Couple that with the fact that NNPC is under the Petroleum Ministry whose Minister is the President himself.Where else will the authorization to implement or cancel the list and by extension the recruitment exercise come from?Food for thought.
Have a brilliant day,everyone!

I also believe same ...maintaining status quo to my understanding is let things continue the way they are pending the outcome of the case to my own understanding ...an example during divorce battles there might the issue of child custody the judge might just tell them to maintain status quo ...which means whatever arrangement that was in place should still be there or be in play pending the outcome of case in court ..and if the case favors the appellant the status quo can then be changed ....i might be wrong but this is what I understood by it all this while...

moogoogaipan:
larride was right...
No one had file an injunction, as a matter of fact, i was looking for the word "injunction" but i couldn't see.
Status Quo implies let thing's remain the same, should the werey lawyer got the wind, that, NNPC wann start dispatching APL, then he can seek succor in the court by filing an injunction.

I am not a lawyer but i did public health law & environmental law .

So Larride, welldone for standing your ground.

Every organisation has the right to set the ground rules for how it is to be managed , it's modus operandi etc. Once they have set the standards, if you don't have what it takes to meet the criteria , then it simply means you are not eligible. The issue of discrimination does not arise. The issue of discrimination will only arise where the petitioner has met the conditions and is still being discriminated against on grounds such as sex, tribe, political affiliation. Etc. I see the present complaint is on discrimination on the grounds of age. The lawyer is cashing in on the provision of section 42 of the constitution of Nigeria. Well, we shall see how the Court interprets the provision vis-a- vis the ongoing nnpc recruitment.
The maxim of Volenti non fit injuria? Once you have accepted to take part in Nnpc recruitment exercise , you cannot be heard to complain about the procedures they have adopted to carry out their recruitment. The lawyer is chasing a wild goose

Loool....I did see the new term ...from what I know it just means continue with d way things have been ..judges use it most times when they don’t have all the facts of a case so to make sure at least there is some form of order ...they institute it ...let things continue as they pending an alternative order from court ...and like someone here pointed out knowing that the final stage was apl ...I was expecting to see a temporary injunction order on d release of apl pending the outcome of the case.....but hey what do I know....

Although I am among the microscopic few that was privilege to graduate below 23 years but let us consider the inadequacy of the system that produce these graduates .The unsteady academic calendar and incessant strike .All this were caused as a result of our government lackadaisical attitude. Since they are the cause, they should find a way to accommodate most of these graduate that were affected age wise. The best way is to shorten their service years but no graduate should be disqualified because of age.

U may have a point.

However, if the roles were switched, would you have thrown the age limit open?

Simply put,
If you were a major decision maker in the recruitment process or you happen to be the final decision maker, would you have just decided that, "let the age be open" for GT? Putting into equation the mandate of the recruitment, the corporation's policy and process?

Emotions atimes don't flow with good value judgement.

You guys were looking for who will put a spotlight on the NNPC recruitment process.

Now someone has done so via the courts and you guys are arguing what status quo means.

Me, my own be say make this recruitment pass through tsunami, tornado, earthquake, landslide, mudslide, gully erosion, volcanic eruption. My name shall not fall of, In Shaa Allah. It would brave it all and be released.

That case no dey go anywhere. GT is like a football academy, you are looking for persons within a certain age bracket to groom, who would be the future of the organisation.
