Lamanii22: The problem isn't religion, or lack of it. The problem is, we have too many resources, and we think that we can make a living by selling them Almost all developed countries have one thing in common...acutely limited raw materials in realtion to their population. As a result, they have no choice but to use the education and technology tools, or else they would perish. Qatar and Nigeria have too much oil, (and in our case, a lot of resources)...so we tend to think that we can use these resources to sell them and have a good life. Qatar seems more developed than us because they produce almost the same amount of oil for a populaiton that is about 2.5million people. The truth is, Nigeria, even with all these resources, it isn't enough. That's why we have to become industrial. But the mentality of most Nigerians is share money. That has nothing to do with religion.(Most European countries and even some Asian countries were as religious as Nigeria when they were undergoing their indistrial transformnation. It is only when they reap the benefits of industrializaiton that they then become less religious). 6 Likes |

They are homogeneous. No rancour, so they can achieve this. We are divided, with some scheming to oppress others, so we cannot achieve this in 20 years except we accept Justice, equity and fairness. 1 Like 1 Share |

dexmond: Homogenity does not guarantee national prosperity. Somalia is probably the most homogenous black African nation. Right now, it is the most divided, China isn't homogenous. (It looks homogenous, but it is divided into several tribal groups, and even the native chinese are divided into the Mandarin speakers and the Cantonese speakers.). Neither is India, the USA, the UK, Belgium , and even Russia, yet they are developed pass Nigeria. The problem with Nigeria is that Nigerians are arguing over how to share money all the time. Even restructuring is borne out of arguments over who is getting more money than what. The problem is, we are not thinking about how to get the money in the first place...which is a big reason why I am no fan of restrcturing, derivation, even secession (even though they are good ideas)...because no one is thinking about how we would adapt when we run out of resources. 4 Likes 1 Share |

dexmond: No way! the entire Arabian Peninsula is made up of tribes that were destroying each other before oyibo divided them up Qatar is full of tribes that are identified by their family name. Al-thani is the ruling family while al-Kuwari often get a lot of government posts because of their shared ancestor. Our presidents will always fill government with their kith and kin but even their home towns cannot boast of any tangible development Our country's stupidity cannot be blamed on any single factor 3 Likes 1 Share |

PoliticalWitch:bra u are wrong about them going broke if the oil drys up. one can to a good extent predict the future by watching patterns of the past, looking at how Qatar have been able to manage their wealth and also being innovative on certain issues, you can tell that they continue being that way even after the oil drys up. Did you also notice that most of their engineers involved in their stadia design n road design were actually Qatar y. hit me for your pumbling materials supply. |
