I did ehailing for 2 years. And yes, I did offline trips. But I never initiated them on my own or tried to convert an online trip to an offline one. A few examples: 1) A couple booked me offline for their wedding Saturday, Sunday and Monday; AFTER I carried them around Lagos for four hours plus as they did their shopping ONLINE without complaining; 2) There's a rider who works at Coca Cola, Agidingbi. He booked me online for a trip in Lagos, he enjoyed the trip and requested that I take him and his colleagues offline to Ibadan. 3) I remember picking up four Yahoo guys from my estate (gowon) on Uber. Their destination was Otta, around Covenant University. I explained to them that Uber trip will stop reading once I leave Lagos area and so I won't go. One of them offered that we should do the trip offline. I said no, let's do it online till toll gate, then I will end the trip; we will do #1,500 offline from toll gate to Covenant University and then you will give me #1,000 for fuel back to Egbeda, Lagos. The total is your bill; which was fair enough. Ornicus's point is you don't cheat the platform that brings you and a rider together. I completely agree. I remember I once stated here it wasn't right to select trips and reject others; that it makes the service unreliable for riders and every driver suffers for it in the end. The platform will bring its own opportunities; by all means, use those opportunities well. But don't cheat the platform. This is Ornicus's point. 14 Likes |

nitigriti: I quite agree with Ornicus to some point, but let me ask you, sir, two questions 1) Since it's wrong to reject trips, can you accept a trip from Festac to Agbara in this rainy season? 2) A trip from Festac to Agbara is roughly #3000. As a driver (which I know you once was), will you accept to do it online, since you don't see it professional to reject trips? 7 Likes |

izzou: When you guys say reject trip, do you mean ignoring requestS or cancelling after accepting? |
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by izzou(m): 4:48pm On Oct 20, 2019 |
radautoworks: Cancelling after accepting When you make a request, the driver can not know your destination. Even when he accepts, he cannot know It's until he starts the trip, or you tell him 6 Likes |

The reactions on this thread is the exact reason lots of organisations, (especially banks) do not put men in customer service. They think everything is logic. Always trying to analyse and come up with various hypothesis. Una happy Sunday o. E done do biko. 3 Likes |

nitigriti: We get his point but have you noticed that once in a while, his ilks shows up here and it always ends up with cocky and condescending submissions. I've also noticed that those with such complaints here never let go, always boast of great achievements in life but always have ZERO emotional intelligence. That aside, the points listed for offline trips are valid. Now the riders who request for offline, are they also fraudulent? Let me stop here for now. I also did Uber during down times for 5months last year. 9 Likes 1 Share |

izzou: I love these questions! 1) I will accept Festac to Agbara online on a dry day so long as I can be back in Lagos (Egbeda) before 4:00pm. If I check Google maps to and fro and I see that I can't make it back before 4:00pm, I will reject and cancel the trip and let the rider know my reason. As it is raining now, I cannot take the trip from Festac to Agbara. 2) I always did my trips online. If I feel a trip request will not pay me, I reject outright. I never try to convert an online trip to an offline one. 3 Likes |

nitigriti: Thank you sir. At least, you can agree with me that while it isn't professional to reject trips, it is necessary because of the working conditions associated with it Like I said, ornicus is right, but he may not understand the challenges involved If you read about a driver fighting a rider because the rider refuses to pay, of course it will be unprofessional. But every driver knows that Bolt will NEVER REFUND OR PAY and driver that was defrauded by a rider Many things are better left unsaid. I hope to see you someday sef. 11 Likes |

Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by nitigriti(m): 5:26pm On Oct 20, 2019 |
izzou: True sir! Even Uber and Bolt understand drivers will reject a few trips. That's why drivers are only penalized when their rates of rejecting trips goes above a set limit. It's not professional to tell a rider, "I'm not going to your destination because the roads are bad; but I will go if we negotiate the trip offline." It's not professional and it's not right. My opinion. 3 Likes |

izzou: Trust me sir, Ornicus understands the challenges and I do too, at least I've worn the shoes severally. What he is saying is, no matter how hard the ehailing driving circumstances are, we shouldn't forget a platform links us to the riders and that we owe ourselves a duty to deal honestly with the platform. And if we aren't satisfied with the services the platform offers us, we should revert through official channels. We shouldn't take it as an excuse to undercut the platform. 4 Likes |

Crvrider: I mean customer service thrives more on empathy than logic. When men are on that desk, they most times argue too much, poking holes in the customer's complains- all to reach a logical stand. That messes it up. Nothing irritates a customer than that, from experience as a once "logical" customer service officer. 1 Like |

izzou:in that case, I don't think you should be able to reject trips. My family and I were stranded in Rome from 11:02pm tIill 2am, new Jersey till 3:45am and almost missed a flight in NJ because of exactly this. Drivers would be on the way then cancel without a word and then we would have to start over. One even showed up (Rome), saw we were black and cancelled. In NJ, he wanted more to carry us when he arrived. He refused, drove off, started the trip and we were charged! Filed a dispute and got money back. Other professions don't pick and choose. Imagine if doctor accepts your appointment and then you show up and doctors says he doesn't want your case but you can afford to pay. 2 Likes |
