Mkenya2019:
Dar port is small baby - it does half Mombasa - and Mombasa is also being expanded by japanase - and the japanse are crossing over to build Dongo Kundu, a bridge over Likoni - and another bridge in Mwache - these are huge bridges - the whole area Japanase are spending 1.5B dollars. That is how to play smart - not borrow commercial loan from South African bank and fund huge infrastructure project. You already spend 50% of your budget to service debt. And you are pilling commercial loans.

LAMU will do transshipment for now - targeting all the small ports including dar - dar is not a DEEP SEA port (understand that first).

And then when Turkana oil is shipped - we will use it as oil terminal. Uganda choose Tanga and they are crying as we finish designing the pipeline and will make FID (FInal Investment Decision) soon with Tullow & Total...we just need 1.5B dollars.

South African banks are the ones funding your project not the other way round you gave the whole project to a bank in South Africa and a private Chinese company whilst leaving yourself with little to no profit from it

The recently launched special economic zone which is part of Mombasa port will change the port for the better. With the help of the Japanese government,Mombasa port model will be of like that of Jebel Ali port of Dubai, the ninth busiest in the world. The SEZ will be a game changer!
Mkenya2019:
Mombasa port have overtaken Lagos port complex in cargo throughput. I think Lagos is down to 1.2M TEUS a year while Mombasa is doing 1.3M TEUS (about 33m metric tonnes). Mombasa does twice Dar Port. Durban does 2.7M.

As for Lekki deap seaport - it will not see the light of the day without FUNDING. And that can only happen when oil price goes back to 100 dollars (never going to happen).Lekki was suppose to be operation last year - but construction is yet to start.

Now LAMU already knocked down 3 out of 32 berths - built in record 2-3yrs.

You're confusing Tanzania and Kenya. South African banks are biggest in Tanzania and Uganda - and do a lot of heavy funding for public projects.Kenya their subsidiary are small potatos. There is nothing any south africa bank fund in kenya now - I think we had a syndicated loan from them around 2010 - and we retired it.

LAMU port is funded by kenyans. It being build by Chinese. Most of our loans are from China, Japan, France, Africa Dev Bank, EU, WB and IMF.

Well it could form a port complex with Mombasa - it's just across Kilindini - but the investment JICA are throwing in Mombasa are mindbogglingly - and nowing Japanese - they will execute it silently. Likoni /South Coast is about to change.

Impressive!
Mkenya2019:
Japanase throws 1.5B dollars investment in Mombasa including Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone. This will be ready in 2023 and will provide 100K jobs.

The Dongo Kundu SEZ in Likoni, Mombasa, which is designed to be a multi-sectoral zone comprises of
Industrial Parks,
Free Trade Zones/Free Port,
Dongo Kundu Port,
Tourism Zone (MICE),
Business Service Parks;

The SEZ will be developed in three phases with the first phase expected to be ready by 2023 and is projected to inject into the Kenyan economy Shs 400 billion in local and foreign direct investments and create more than 100,000 jobs...

Mombasa has not overtaken Lagos first off second off lekki deep seaport was mentioned only seven years ago but they only started construction February last year that picture us from January today they have finished the 1.5km long breakwater and they are going to start the construction of the actual container port now

The first berth will come in Q2 2020 and when fully completed in 2025 it will be able to handle over 6 million TEUs making it the largest and deepest seaport in sub Sahara Africa

I made a mistake turns out the it is 60/40 shares in it 40% for the Nigerian and Lagos state government than the 60% is for a Singaporean group who own the port of Singapore one of the world's busiest ports in the world and they say they will actually expand on to about 15 million TEUs by 2030 making it he biggest in Africa

It is also very strategically positioned right in front of the lekki free trade zone where lots of factories and industrial parks are you also have the new city area located around the eagle lake

I personally search it and went to the kpa (Kenyan ports authority) website and it said it is majority funded by the south African development bank and a private Chinese company whilst the small 10% is for the French, British stakeholders and the Kenyan government

I swear things keep on getting better and better the port is going to generate about 561 billion dollars no because Chad and Niger have asked to have their produce delivered through there and the smart taxes and concessions will provide over 561 billion in revenue and if the government owns 40% of that you get 224 billion dollars every year from it

With the other ports in bakasi and calabar the government will be making half a trillion dollars every year from our ports and through the special economic zones like the textile, technology and industrial ones Nigeria will be creating over 7 million jobs over all

Nigeria depends on India, China and America for it's crude exports Ghana doesn't have that much of a significance to us but anyway I thought we were friends heh Naija omo Ghana

Close diplomatic bonds even through the border closure this border closure is for Benin and Togo not you don't mind the other Nigerians insulting you me personally I love Ghana and I love Nigeria

I think we should try and work together and not fall apart like imagine if Kantanka merged with Innoson the profit you see we can work together through the good and the bad of the times

Please forgive us and let us come together to grow our countries

Kenyans we don't qualify for WB/IMF cheap loans but we are playing smart - getting concessional loans from Chinese and Japanese - and ADB - which is why despite having 60 billion dollars in loan - we are spending 30% of our budget to service debt - the commercial component of the loan is small - most of loan are long tenured - and others just public guarantees.

LAMU will do transshipment for now - targeting all the small ports including dar - dar is not a DEEP SEA port (understand that first). LAMU as deep sea port will be able to handle super post-panamax ships.

You are laughable! What you don't understand is,building a Lamu port without demand was stupid. Building Lamu port by expecting Ethiopians won't make peace with Eritrea was stupid too. Building Lamu port and expect TZ cargo was foolish. You took a huge loan from China, only the heavens knows how you will pay that!
The word deep sea port fascinates you! Do you know how deep the port should be to have that tag of deep port?

Don't compare TZ with your failed state! We have 4 big ports. We are not a small nation with one working port! We are a united republic.

Stop this talk about Turkana oil.your oil is just too little
