Sorry for the loss, boss. Proly the phone has been switched OFF; just keep trying...don't know how Samsung Find me works but I hope it'll still be active when flashed and SIM changed. An advantage Xiaomi has is you can't flash/ON it without valid authentication.

You may try using police IMEI tracking option but heard it costs an eye (depends on the station though).

As regards data/docs., don't leave your important files in your phone(s) only but on OTG drive(s) or cloud. I don't even save important files on phones but OTGs and cloud (for remote retrieval should I don't have my OTGs handy.

Xiaomi uses MiCloud/Mi account which makes it easy to lock, call, locate (approximate) and reset your phone remotely in any unfortunate situation. Yeah, you can send an SOS to the phone for the holder to read!
2. Your phone can't be put into use after a restart without your valid password neither can it be flashed (OS) without same.
