He was shaky but saved most of the balls that came his way. He had one of the best stats at the nations cup.
Do I want him back? NO, if we have a better option
But Okoye can't be a replacement for now. I believe we have better options. Because we took the risk with Uzohor and it paid off does not mean we should throw caution to the wind. At least Uzohor was playing competitive football when he was called up, we saw the progression and he has actually moved to first-choice position playing main league football. The same can't be said of Okoye. He's young, more reason he needs more time not in the SE. If he records bad stats in the SE now, he won't get any look in the future. WE DON'T FORGIVE!

No bro

I defended akpeyi through out the afcon, uzoho issa better goal keeper and played just the 3rd place match

Forget the free kick akpeyi was always shaky and lack confidence, i told most of them here that so many goal keepers wont save that mahrez free kick, so am not judging by the freekick

Enyeama beat carlos hands down no two ways about it

This was definitely not called for

Akpeyi has conceded more than that before
Ezenwa too
Uzohor too (Club)
Because you conceded 4 away does not mean you are bad, it becomes a problem when it continues. 17 goals in 7 matches, haba na Courtois be him role model?
tbaba1234:

I am open to keepers in the league but we saw Afelokhai in Lome. He is supposed to be the best in the league.

Okoye is probably not the best but he is one option.

HABA. youtube is there. He saved more than 3 one-on-one!

So why did the defense not save Ezenwa from conceding 2 from Madagascar?
tbaba1234:

Akpeyi did not save us a lot at the AFCON. In fact, he was well protected.

Everytime, he made an error, there was defensive cover.

The only game, Akpeyi did not make an error in the nations cup was against South Africa and that was because south africa barely had a shot on target.

He makes the occasional save but he can also cost you with his mistakes.

Ezenwa can not be blamed for either goal against Madagascar. Deflection and a defensive blunder.

Akpeyi should not be as shaky with all his experience.

He was not awful, he conceeded a last minute free kick and that was it

My point is, as he was dropped unceremoniously and without explanation there is no use going back to him
How do you know he was dropped without explanation? Are you the coach or the player's agent?

I believe the goal conceded against Algeria played a big factor. Too big a game to make school boy errors.

He was poorly positioned.

He can defend himself against that goal, it wasn't exactly a poor free kick

The main issue is he was replaced by someone at a much lower level and much less accomplished

None of his so-called mistakes cost us a goal at the AFCON except the freekick, so why are you bringing this up?

Weird enough, he only shakes in the SE uniform, his problem is selective psychological something. He's old already, we do not need him because he's got nothing new to give the younger ones.

Let us search well and pick better younger Gks to start grooming now.

Some are in the league
some in division 1 and 2 of some leagues everywhere.
Let us help us get a better GKs. We deserve more than Ezenwa and Okoye!

His poor position eliminated any chance of saving the ball. If he did everything right, then he can defend himself.

Uzoho with far less exposure and experience looked more comfortable than Akpeyi with all his experience

Just imagine what our coaches are doing to us.

Is it because they are no better options or they are not telling us the truth? Ezenwa hasn't been active for almost 3 years now yet he keeps making the cut.

Someone is playing pranks somewhere

Someone is sharing money with Ezenwa!

The thing is, Akpeyi is 32 or so he's not a young GK, he's not very good with no chance of getting better he has nothing new to learn, so dropping him is totally justified but Rhor should get us a decent enough GK.
