Not only is Daniel Akpeyi most qualified, he has been on a top run of form lately. I love his newly discovered me against the world attitude and I really feel he has way more to offer the national team.

Winning over kaizer chiefs fans like he has done is not a small task. This situation reminds me a bit of ighalo after the world cup. He maintained top performances and was given a chance at redemption which he took.

Dude has gotten 2 man of the match performance so far

Who has said anything about discarding anybody? Etebo is an important player for Nigeria but there are Nigerian players in the same league playing better. There is nothing more to it. Ejaria will need a switch anyway.
what can they bring to the team, that others do not give us

So because of Eze and ejaria's emergence we should discard etebo? What was Eze and ejaria's rating in championship last season?

Etebo may not be the best but he is still needed in the super eagles. I have not been a fan of his but if not for anything his work rate and energy have been beneficial to the team so far

The same etebo was our best player at the last world cup and among the best at the afcon.

Agreed

You are definently right. He is highly talented and skillful but iwobi is more experienced and direct with better work rate

Have seen Eze play few times and must confess that he is naturally good [s][/s]but tends to showboat alot. I think he will shake that off as he matures in his profession
Maybe this is why Rohr doesn't want to call him up. He hates unnecessary showboating

You don't win matches by chasing rabits on pitch it is done by technicality, determination and skills. Go and check the stats of both players and come back to argue with me. Etebo is in lowly Stoke city and can't even make all match day squad, yet you're comparing him with another who kept pulling MOM performances. Wake up sir!

I never said he is not making match day squad, i meant ALL which means his appearances are still low. Ebere Eze has 12 appearances with 6 goals and 2 assists plus injury which made him miss some. A fit Etebo has 7 appearances(3 as Sub) with zero goal(s) and zero assist(s). His rabbit chasing skills and nitro burning should have helped him win matches for lowly stoke nau.

These Sheffield players are very good at tight spaces, and they're from the Championship

Wow

I have said that the Championship is the most competitive and financially buoyant 2nd tier league in the world.

Top strikers in the Championship can cost in excess of £30 million. This is something the mid to bottom section of the top 10 leagues in Europe will struggle with.

It's not uncommon for Championship sides to beat EPL sides in the FA cup.

Etebo returned late and the coach eased him in for his own good. Forget the nitro burning talk Etebo is a damn good footballer.

Bad news

Confusion Over Eligibility For Nigeria Could Make Rohr Shun QPR Eze For AFCON 2021 Qualifiers Games

The chances of QPR midfielder Ebere Eze turning out for the Super Eagles when they begin the qualifiers for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations next month appears to be very slim, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Eze is widely viewed as one of the most creative midfielder in the English Championship with back to back impressive performances for QPR. Last weekend he scored twice from the spot to hand them a 3-1 win away to Hull City.
Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has a long standing interest in luring the midfielder to the Super Eagles and Eze isn’t opposed to the idea. He even trained with the Super Eagles in 2017 during their training tour of England.

Rohr has maintained that the player will need some paperwork to be done before he can switch to Nigeria as he has represented England at U21 level in a competitive game. That claim was severally contested by many but checks by this portal can confirm that Rohr is indeed right.

The 22 year old made his debut for the U20 on the 11th of October 2018 against Italy in the UEFA Elite League competition. A tournament which is viewed as competitive meaning he will require clearance from FIFA to play for Nigeria. That wouldn’t have been the case if he had only played in a friendly game or not at all.
Getting FIFA to approve a switch of nationality for players who have represented England requires lot of time and it ranges between 12 to 14 months before it’s done. That effectively means Eze will not be in the Super Eagles squad for the AFCON 2021 Qualifiers game against Benin Republic and Lesotho respectively next month.

True

that is why a lot of EPL clubs are more comfortable buying players from the championship, cos it's more like home away from home, as the players don't struggle to adapt to the EPL

It’s not hidden that Nigeria is a secomd option for most of them. It’s not like playing for Nigeria is more prestigious than playing for Germz y. It’s just the fact.

Let's be truthful and realistic.

The quest to play for the national team irrespective of level is to get exposure to play in Europe. This is why there is so much corruption and conflicts of interest with NFF coaches and arrangements with thier preferred agents.

Now ask the question ❓ lf our players could immediately change nationality so as to gain very lucrative contracts.

How many of our born and bred in Nigerian players will want to play for Nigeria.

Thank you

A good quality player from the Championship will not struggle to adapt to the speed and physicality of the EPL.

A player coming from the European top leagues not all may take time to adapt, Pepe comes to mind.

Why is he struggling to stand out in the Championship❓

When your team is very poor and facing relegation it can be difficult to impose your personal stamp and quality on the game.

However, it can be a two edged sword in that you could be the only one that stands out among the carpenters.

Because right now Ovie is standing out a lot more than Etebo. Meanwhile Ovie is in a struggling team too in the relegation zone.

Heard from the right source that he will require some paper works before a switch of nationality.
The game he played for England is adjudged competitive by FIFA. Not a friendly. Therefore he has been axed from the Nov games.

Chai! So sad
But be that as it might be
Has the paperwork of his change of allegiance started?
Has Rohr and the NFF met with him to assure him that he has a future with the SE?
Will he be invited to train with the team in the next AFCON qualifiers even if he doesn't get to play (Just like it was done for Victor Moses sometime ago)?
If the NFF and Rohr have not done or is not planning this (in the case of the last question) then we are not serious at all and we should let England have him.
