Some days ago, Dieuautos, an auto dealership along Lekki Expressway Lagos released photos and video via their social media handles that they have the 2020 Toyota Alphard Executive Lounge, the Top-of-range trim of the Japanese Minivan.

The Toyota Alphard is a minivan produced by the Japanese automaker Toyota since 2002. It is available as a seven- or eight-seater with petrol and hybrid engine options. Hybrid variants have been available since 2003 and it incorporates Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive technology.
The vehicle was named after
Alphard, the brightest star in the Hydra constellation. The Alphard was launched by Toyota in May 2002 to compete against the Nissan Elgrand and Honda Elysion. The Alphard is Toyota’s best selling Multi Purpose Van in Japan. There is a more luxurious version than the Alphard Executive Lounge which is Lexus LM.

Interior: Finishing is made of high quality materials. There was no use of the skin, soft plastic inlay in wood, aluminum, as used in budget models.

You can not fault the ergonomics, in this Vehicle. The interior includes three rows of seats, the total capacity of which is 7 seats, including the driver. The Captain chair is power adjustable.
The first and second row – a freestanding chairs that are offered with a large space for the legs and head. Also, their position can be adjusted electrically operated, change the longitudinal position of 11.6 centimeters.

On the centre of the dashboard , with Blue Ray Player and Premium JBL touchscreen infotainment system. Other features are: three-zone automatic climatic control, moon roof, mood LED lights, Electronic Power Steering, Floor Console Slide Type, Inside Rear View Electro Chromic Mirror, Cruise Control, Exclusive Combination Leather,Semi-aniline Seats, Instrument Panel: Black Wood Grain and Silver Finish.

Exterior: The Alphard is basically a business class minivan. It features: LED (Tail and Stop Lamps), 18 inch Light Alloy Rim, Front (Tilt-up)/Rear Power Sliding, illuminated entry system,redesigned grille, with all the curves and angles to improve aerodynamics.

Engine: It is powered by a 3.5L V6 engine and latched with a 6-speed automatic transmission, that produces an impressive 275 horsepower with a torque of 340 Nm. This gives an mpg of 14.5l/100km city and 10.5L/100km in combined cycle.

The van can accelerate from zero to 100km/hr in 8.3 seconds, and can reach a maximum speeds of 200km/hr.

Price: Although no official price was released by Dieuautos but the price is expected to be between N18,100,000 (or USD50,000) excluding landing costs.

Alphard has the following:

length – 4914 mm;
height – 1880 mm;
width – 1850 mm;
wheelbase – 3000 mm;
ground clearance – 160 mm. and a 2008 Toyota Camry for Example has a ground clearance of 160mm. If you drive Camry in Nigeria, you can drive this.

Similarly, a 2008 Toyota Sienna is 175mm - just 15mm ground clearance taller than an Alphard.
