The Siakam deal of $130 million for 4 years is quite good for Toronto, he will be the focal point of their play both on offense and defence. Add to the fact that most of their other big contracts will can be gotten off the books by 2021. This is a good deal for the Raptors as they start their gradual rebuild

Lebron is nothing but a sellout and hypocritic social crusader. Suddenly he has realized that free speech is not actually free speech! that free speech has negative consequences. When you listen to him on his HBO series talk about the 1st amendment right and other social justice issues you would think he has the guts. This has everything to do with his $1 billion Nike endorsement deal and the fact that his movie "SpaceJ Jam 2" will actually premiere in China before the US. I would have had no problems if he was not such a talkative at home but this cat is the first to jump on any social justice issue. If you had nothing sensible to say especially over a very sensitive situation why not sidestep the question as Curry and Kerr did? But of course, he wants to always control the narrative.

I love how the american media can push their "holier than thou" narratives and even intelligent people like yourself can fall for them hook line and sinker.

First of all how selfish would lebron be if he said something that will be detrimental to the whole NBA including other stars like harden curry westbrook and co. who they themselves have kept out of this issue for a reason. Lebron should blow all that up for friggin hong kongers? (I will expand on this)? He shouldnt talk about issues he has experienced and has a stake in but he should talk about china and hong kong whose complexities very few even begin to understand? LOL!

Do you know how many regions are seeking secession in this world? ambazonia, catalonia, palestine, balochistan, kashmir, biafra, just off the top of my head. where do you draw a line as to who deserves secession or not? why isnt there as much outrage over this places? simple, because its china, a country which the jingoists have labelled their enemy. Then there is the narrative of pushing democracy and capitalism down peoples throats and labelling communism as evil when i know democratic capitalist countries responsible for more evil than china can begin to fathom. where is the outrage there? I know for a fact these countries haven't achieved half of what these "evil communists" have achieved. Raising 700 million people out of poverty, continuing to grow at an exponential rate and catering for their next generation, if african countries had adopted some of these chinese principles they'd be a lot better off today. Fvck democracy and fvck capitalism. What i've noticed is lebron not putting a foot wrong is attacked by a section of the community, now he doesnt follow their script and its open season, friggin right wingers are quoting MLK and Ali like they give a shit about them just to criticize him. As a muslim who has been around chinese muslims i find what china doing is doing to the uyghurs repulsive dont get me wrong, but this isnt the only place where muslims (or people of other religions) are being harassed for their faith, i just wish there is the same amount of outrage rather than picking out stories that fit their narrative, americans trying to demonize china and all. Do you remember when dwight tweeted "free palestine" and was forced to apologize? And lets be honest, whats the point of these protests anyway and why are americans adding fuel to the fire? lets be pragmatic here, hong kong is never going to gain indpendence except out of the goodness of china's heart (LOL), This isnt Iraq or libya where you can go try to fvck them up if they fvck with china, china will fvck them just as hard. China will protect what it believes is their territory as every sovereign country would. I just hate all the hypocrisy from these people.

Mind you lebron never criticized or supported china, his problem was with morey who whether you lot want to admit it or not fvcked up. He knew the lakers were going there and he knew the sh-t storm he would cause and he selfishly tweeted that anyway, if the rockets were going to china, do you think he would've tweeted that?

And in that vein, fvck the hong kongers, if theres any people i would sacrifice my business for they are at the bottom of the list along with friggin arabs. I dont know how many chinese people you've met but mainland chinese people are about the most racist people in the world, the hong kongers are a lot worse. I'm sure Smooshchn will testify to that. When have they ever stood up for black people when they see them as inferior, yet they want a black man to give up everything for them when it actually has zero use? LOL

If you are courageous enough to call a graduate of statistics from Northwestern with an MBA from a renowned institution like MIT "Uneducated" then it is fair to call Lebron an "Illiterate" and argue that his opinion about free speech stems from his illiteracy. We have to stop thinking we have to control the narrative of everything especially when they are occurring outside our country. China is not a developing country, it is a powerhouse and they have built their country from core values and principles that align with its culture and it has worked for them. This proves that we are not very versed in the life of other countries and always want to impose our own values on them even when it is not necessary.
A person can be a phd and still be uneducated on certain issues, a phd in history can be uneducated on quantum physics. His credentials dont matter. I dont understand what you are trying to say towards the end? isnt that exactly what america is trying to do? impose their values on everyone else even when it doesnt work for them?

Finally, this situation makes me question Adam Silver's leadership capabilities because he has not gotten a grip on this fiasco from day 1.
I strongly disagree, he resisted lebrons calls to punish morey and resisted chinas call to fire morey. The only criticism is maybe the nets and lakers match should have been cancelled.

Scored 10 points in the first quarter all from dunks but also got blocked 3 times. His finishing around the rim seems like it needs some work. As far as his shape his cardio will improve steadily, may need to cut some weight and even muscle for that cause carrying that much muscle is like carrying extra baggage and they too need oxygen. Not advisable to keep exerting that much weight on his legs, i know his size is part of the appeal but he needs to be smart and do what prolongs his career for the long term. Adding more facets to his game might be helpful with that. Athleticism will only get you so far as Blake Griffin can testify, injuries are inevitable. Credit to blake hes been able to evolve and become a well rounded player. Rooting for Zion too cause he seems like a really nice kid.

Called it, unfortunately.

Lol it's so funny that Danny Ainge who thought he was smarter than everyone else with his wheeling and dealing is now paying $28m to a guy who has more turnovers than assists for his career.

Time will tell if the deal pays off though. I'm looking to guys like Tatum and perhaps Hayward to deliver. Perhaps the absence of the cloud of Kyrie could be a blessing in disguise

You're right on this and this is exactly how over 1billion citizens feel about this democracy thing and the pressure from the media. This is also why they'd rather die than allow the media brainwash their people. Same with Russia. They've been successful at what they do so I don't see why they should change to please anyone. They'll solve the HK issue but not in a way that would make their government look weak which is a sad thing for Hong Kong.

Well, it's same with Christians too. Two years ago, everyone was forced to submit their Bibles, churches were only allowed to open like 4 times a year, etc. Religion can break them so I get why they'll do that. The only way to keep 1.7billion people plus in peace and unity is to let them think and act the same way. It's sad for those who want to practice their faith freely and would be very strange to outsiders but they have done good without religion. Morally, even though subjective, they are by far better than most religious countries. So, they don't need to take the risk of encouraging any religious practice. Still sad but..

I dont know how many chinese people you've met but mainland chinese people are about the most racist people in the world, the hong kongers are a lot worse. I'm sure Smooshchn will testify to that. You might be close but I'll speak for myself here. Of course there's no month that goes by where I don't get to be asked why my skin is so dark or how many times I've seen a lion or some wild animals (sometimes I laugh too hard to care which makes them even more curious to learn) but you can't really blame them. It's what they've seen on TV about Africa and it's usually not more than that and some annoying questions of which if I'm in a good mood, give a thoughtful reply as to why being educated about Africa would change their mind. A family once asked how lucky I was to have seen lions and elephants everyday and how sad it is that we don't have enough water and if that is why we look so dark. I had time that day so, sharing few pictures and video changed them completely. It works Everytime. You can blame them for being ignorance and uneducated but this family took a trip down to South Africa, Namibia and Kenya some years ago due to that encounter.
It's mostly the ignorant and uneducated ones doing all that crap. And our reputation of fraud, drug trafficking, etc doesn't help either.
8 out of 10 times, your being being black will get you farther than you'd expect. Give you privileges, preferential treatments that even their citizens don't get. Just my personal experience.

So, I'll just say racism in China is nothing compared to some places since it mostly stems from ignorance about other races, ethnicity or cultures. Some countries make racism in China look like child's play. And I don't expect them to stand up for blacks because it's not their responsibility. They chase money and mind their business which isn't too bad.

Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 4:36am On Oct 23, 2019
The Lakers are limited in their bench scoring and while they have the length to shrink the floor defensively, it does not spread the floor offensively for them because they lack perimeter scoring.

Ermmmm, I questioned the rationale behind chasing D. Green and he is proving me right.
