PurpleHouse: There is a saying that goes thus "offense sells tickets while defense wins games." My dear playing to the gallery gets you no were in football. Moreover, a quality needed by a good coach is the ability to adjust your tactics based on your opponent and circumstance you find your self in. It would be suicidal for Nigeria to go all offensive on a team like Brazil and Ukraine(while playing at home). This is particularly important when you do not have a full compliment of your trusted regulars and are trying out new players for the first time. My dear Rohr has his many faults but this decision is not one of them. 3 Likes |

chidi1: Nigerians don't know what they want, if he had gone offensive against Brazil and was hammered 5:0 the same people would be saying 'why didn't he have a good defense, why should we be beaten 5:0 by Brazil' When I read their comments and I remember they're not in charge of the NFF I just thank God 3 Likes |

chidi1:A Nigerian team should always be offensive minded....that's the Nigerian football culture, thatz our DNA..... With all this supposed defending and he still won't win the world cup, infact they couldn't win the Afcon yet you are talking as if we are witnessing a defensive masterclass.... I will rather lose (5-3etc) by playing attacking football than defending and still come out with nothing...at least you will be entertained.... The 94 team were loved not because they were world conquerors but because their brand of football was exciting... 3 Likes |

kendrick93: Guardiola is playing attacking football and he is winning trophies. In fact, he is playing attacking, technical football in a so called physical league and proving everybody wrong. Besides there is a difference between defending well and playing defensive football. They are two different things that people confuse together. Attacking football with a good defense and strikers that convert chances works 2 Likes |

sdmtavern: My friend you work with what you have. Using your anology, would Guardiola use the same offensive mindset if he was the manager to Shaffield United? We do not have world class players like we had in 1994. Players we have now are younger, faster and more suited for quick counter attacks. Until we get dependable, consistent midfielders that can work in tight spaces, I think Rohr should continue with team his build up. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the oldest player in the Golden Eaglets squad Olakunle Olusegun is attracting interest from top European clubs even before a ball is kicked at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup. This website can exclusively report that the Nigeria U17 goal machine traveled to Russia about three months ago for contract talks with an unnamed club in the country. Spanish La Liga side Atlético de Madrid are one of the clubs showing interest in the striker ahead of the tournament in Brazil. Premier League champions Manchester City are also keen on the ABS Ilorin teen sensation, who won the Golden Boot at the WAFU-UFOA B qualifiers with four goals and netted the winner against Angola in the group stage of the U17 AFCON. Scouts representing the Citizens were expected in Nigeria to check the progress of Olusegun after the U17 AFCON but eventually did not show up, and it is believed they will monitor him during the World Cup. The 17-year-old is aiming to become the fourth Nigerian player to win the Golden Boot at the U17 World Cup after Wilson Oruma, Macauley Chrisantus and Victor Osimhen. |

chidi1:Same way Chelsea team is younger, faster and less experienced but they don't rely on counter but play explosive footbal not minding the opponents. They will only fail a few times and get better. There is no gain in cowardice. Even bible said " Be anxious for nothing". Express yourself, you might fail a few times but you would be to sure learn and get better. I can never be a fan of Rohr's Conservative football. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Valencia defender Mouctar Diakhaby faced the cameras ahead of Wednesday evening's Champions League match against Lille and one of the subjects he touched on was the form of Victor Osimhen. Just over two months after the start of the 2019-2020 season, the Nigeria national-teamer has scored 7 goals in the Ligue 1 and one more in the Champions League which he netted against Chelsea on matchday two. Asked what he expects from Osimhen in today's game, Diakhaby told reporters at the pre-match press conference : ''I have watched Lille's matches and I have friends on the team. ''He is a great player. He has quality and speed. We have to defend well, but Lille also has other great players that must also be watched''. Lille are without a point after two matches in Group H of the Champions League following losses to Ajax Amsterdam and Chelsea while Valencia have three points. Osimhen has been an ever-present in Lille's starting line-up in the Champions League so far this season and is set to make his third start against Los Ches. |
