Tflex01: All the points you've made are valid, but a closer look at these issues will show you that border closure will only marginally address the problems with the Nigerian economy, which are actually systemic issues/problems. What makes the Benin seaports so attractive in the first place? Why are a certain cabal of people allowed to keep our port authorities corrupt and inefficient (because of personal gain) to the point where importers prefer neighbouring seaports? Why does the Nigerian government charge 70% duty on vehicle imports when local assemblers cannot even meet 2% of local demand? Are Nigerians meant to walk nakëd in the streets? If not, why ban textile imports when the local textile industry is dead? We all know the answers to those questions above, but we have to keep asking ourselves because our political leaders pretend these systemic problems don't exist while they are busy executing dubious projects and enriching their own private accounts. We have to tell ourselves the truth or else the border closure will achieve nothing. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Advancedman: Nigeria alone 50? Wow. No wonder. Government got it right. But people don't really understand all these offline o.. If I had the money, I would go straight to the business & sell to people here in Lagos. Its the opportunity to visit the North and make enquires on the best local rice because some Nigerian farmers produce it already. Give free testing to your customers first and let them request for more once they test its legit. Mad money!! The government wants to improve on production now. It will even create jobs 2 Likes |

This is the best time for farmers, business tycoon to look inward and make do of these opportunities. I am in support of the border not to be opened again. It will surely get hard but we will adjust. Let's make Nigeria better again. Farmers, get to work and make a farm produce, business men, let's be creative. Office worker, let's get a land and start farming. I wish Nigeria well o 2 Likes 1 Share |

Better start eating your rice and Vegs...that border stays closed! Imagine even India, Thailand, Ghana, Cameroon, etc are feeling the heat of this closed border! Haa, Nigeria is such a dumping ground after all, but we're set to remedy that. Meanwhile... Are you a teacher? Aptly captured bro, lots of people will now get to understand the reason behind the closure of the border. I will be sharing your explanation on fb shortly so friends who do not understand the reason will do. How I wish government agencies can take due diligence and make explanation like this. Keep it up Tflex01: 1 Like 1 Share |
