NIGERIAN ARMY TO LAUNCH INDIGENOUS MINE RESISTANT AMBUSH PROTECTED VEHICLE

The Nigerian Army is set to launch its first indigenous Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle designed and built by Command Engineering Depot in collaboration with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria. It is named ‘EZUGWU MRAP’

The 4x4 Armoured Vehicle is designed to carry out transportation in smooth and rough terrain. It has capability to assault with high volume of fire.

The primary armament includes a 12.7 mm Anti-Aircraft Gun and a 7.62 mm Light Machine Gun. It is good for counter-terrorism, maintenance of stability and also a perfect vehicle for urban warfare.

The vehicle is characterized by good protection performance, strong cross-country capability, high reliability, easy maintenance, and can operate in severe cold as well as sweltering desert areas.

It carries a crew of 12: commander, driver, two gunners and eight soldiers.

1. If you are carrying 12 passengers, a 6x6 chassis/driveline is better than 4x4 otherwise too much sway and bad structural dynamics

2. Put double redundancy on the ventilation /airconditioning system and we need a plant that can produce more than ten Ezugwu MRAPS a day.

this vehicle needs a proper critical review by external engineers to succeed, this can only be a first prototype.

NA pls put a mix of turret systems on this beast. Like Shturm turret from our friends in the Ukraine OR the new DENEL turrets that fire 12.5mm machine guns and rapid fire grenade launchers at the same time

I was here when y'all said the same in 2014.

Bureaucracy and a host of other factors will choke this venture and am not being pessimistic

Sure as hell it does! That's where the monster bureaucracy will come in and it wouldn't go far.

As that vehicle is now, it has a long road before celebration. It looks like Army is putting the cart before the horse as usual

This was how ARA started there would possibly be an upgrade..RWS should be the primary Weaponry of this vehicle.I noticed they added window blocks at the side.unlike the first time we saw it..

We can only grow from here on out. The vehicle is already deployed in the field, those field tests would determine if it is fit for purpose. Not you and I typing from our phones and laptops.

The army already ordered 130 units. It means they have confidence.

Please can someone help me, how can I create a new thread?

The Ezugwu might not be the best looking vehicle, but let us be optimistic.

We have proforce APC and this APC to be proud of.

This variant below has add-on armour.

South-Africa built this in 1978. It saw extensive action in Angola for almost 22 years. It was replaced by the Mamba in 1995.

As we can see, it is still in use today in Somalia and Sri-Lanka.

Compare this development to the Ezugwu, the Ezugwu is miles ahead, and it's specifications are incredible for a first try.

Let us see it in action in the NE.

Seriously........ angry grin grin
That should be on Henry or siriusblack thread, I was never part of those who said or supported igirigI last long. The igirigi has no production line/plant like what we have now- NAVMC. The few igirigi that was preduced where built in the workshop of NA engineers unlike the NAVMC; the venture might look small now but they are impressive. What they need do is to seek for external engineers to help out improve on the design .

The seats ( as shown in the brochure ) in the new MRAP don't look like the usual blast attenuation seats

Hope they r just place holders and not the real deal.

The Nigerian Air Force buys bulletproof vests from this Nigerian company.

You can see the NAF sign on the vest.
