The Honourable Minister of Transportation Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi on behalf of the federal government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), with Russian for the modernisation, development of railway infrastructure, rehabilitation of existing Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) rolling stock-fleet and upgrading of workshops across the country.

The MoU involves two Russian firms: Russian Joint Stock Company Russian Railway (JSCRR) and Transmash Holding, a private rolling stock manufacturing company.

Signing the agreement with CEO-Chairman, Joint Stock Company Russian Railway, Oleg Belozerov and the CEO Transmash holding, Mr Kirill Lipa during the Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi, Amaechi said this would boost and Fastrack the construction of the rail manufacturing company in Nigeria.

You will recall that the Nigerian government, gave the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) the nod to establish a rail manufacturing plant in the country.

The Minister reiterated that the present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari was determined to ensure the development of standard rail infrastructure in line with best practices.

He also noted that before the end of December, Nigeria will receive 20 locomotives and wagons which will be used for the Railway service on Lagos-Ibadan, Abuja-Kaduna and Itakpe-Warri rail line.

Amaechi is a performer. I was amazed to see the rail lines built up to ibadan here.

Enough of the paper work.....We want actions....promises and hopes don't work for us again.

While some people are busy spreading misinformation on social media about Buhari's trip to RUSSIA. Truths are coming out daily about the benefits of the trip. We have seen Ajaokuta deal concluded, Kaduna tripartite rail contract signed, and this one too. Others will still be unfolding as days pass by. Be sure of what you post even if you hate the government.

3] Nigeria WILL appreciate Russia assistance in the Steel Industry. Russia contractors WILL return and fix the uncompleted and abandoned Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mill.

4] Nigeria stressed the need for Russia TO ESTABLISH a nuclear power plant in Nigeria.
NIGERIA WILL, NIGERIA WILL...THESE ARE MERE DIPLOMATIC THAN BUSINESS AGREEMENT AND YIELDS NOTHING.

You cannot go to an International Business event unprepared and expect to achieve anything meaningful.

With over 48 Countries in attendance at the ongoing Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi, Russia, it is apparent that President Buhari will be coming back with no agreement.
