It is well. Many full moons ago some Nigerians in nl did something that cost the life of a fellow Nigerian emigrant.

Mine even started from Tegel airport, the Guy that I already agreed to share flat with dissapointed me, even till now he is not responding to my calls or chats. I just had to look for somewhere to manage first while I sort out the accommodation thing.

those naija agents they are tje first born sons of the devil use them at ur peril. They always take advantage of the fact that one is desperate to leave naija. We lack empathy to ourselves no wonder we have yeye leaders.

You still need to certify/notarize your duly stamped results, but if you have your transcript what are you doing) with department result? Or do they mean the same thing?

Some schools accept statement of result, mail the course coordinator to find out.

Using only EPL from your school gives you limited options that you can apply to. I advice to take the test to give you unlimited options.

Then read from page 1 honestly all questions you might have will all be answered before you even get to page 50

Hi, will like to know the reason you stated while applying for tuition exemption let me look that up. Mannheim explicitly stated refugees, EU residents and the medically challenged.
I will like to apply to Mannheim for exemption but don't know if the ACP, UN exemption apply to all public universities in BW state or to just Tubingen.

Magma012:
Just got this msg from tubingen.. the 1500 tuition fee have been exempted.
pls anyone currently studying in this school?

Dear Sir or Madame,

the University of Tübingen hereby certifies that you will be exempted from the tuition fees. This exemption applies to citizens of the Least Developed Countries (UN) and ACP Countries starting winter term 2019/2020.

Yours sincerely

Dr. Reinhard Brunner

I’ve had the intention to write ever since, but I always never knew where to start from. Thank you Nairaland! It's been amazing!!! The real truth is that Nairaland helped me get here from start to finish; the wealth of information here from people's experiences is all you would ever need to achieve those goals. My one advice; NETWORK as much as you can, yes there are going to be bad eggs. I've not met any so far and I'm not going to deny their existence, but it's still the best way to get a hang of the new environment. Like plenty folks here, I have no family here but good lord! I have friends and my source is Nairaland! Before I traveled to Hamburg, again from Nairaland; I was able to connect and create a WhatsApp group of folks going to the same school with me; about 9 of us. Believe me, it has been my strength. It still feels very much like Nigeria for me and its one of the biggest challenges newbies face when they arrive here. I couldn’t contact the school/accommodation guides when I arrived, it was these friends (who traveled earlier than I did) that came to receive me at the airport (even got lost in the process when they went to board a train that detaches before it goes to the airport and the other part goes to another stop which of course they had no prior knowledge of then) and took me to my dorm, I was already settled in my dorm before the dorm administrator brought papers for me to sign, my friends literally secured my space for me. I came in on a Sunday, Germans take their Sundays very seriously; all their shops were closed and these same friends fed me good food till I could go get groceries on Monday (wonderful friends rights).

My Challenges; the German language was taught in English back in Nigeria, here it was and has been auf Deutsch, I mean I was A2 material when i left Nigeria, the first two weeks German intensive classes were traumatizing for me, the teachers refused to speak in English as they believe the best way to teach you the language is in the language, it wasn’t funny at all. After intensive classes, I gently went to demote myself to A1 (I cannot kee myself), let's start all over again and my listening is really bad; I have to wait for the verb(mostly at the end of the sentence) before I get what you are trying to say and most times, I don’t get it at all and you have to make hand gestures to communicate with me in Deutsch.
The method of teaching, standard and quality of teaching here is on another level, Nigeria didn’t prepare me for this, projects, presentations, class discussions in almost every class makes the course very demanding and that’s how all courses are. Initially, I leave every class stressed and confused but again, I'm Nigerian, we adapt and since my co-participants are humans, i’ll survive too. But its something to prepare for when you conceive the idea to come study here especially STEM guys.

Like my wonderful predecessors, i intend to give back to the community, still finding my feet though but time makes all things better. Above all, travelling to Germany is worth it if you crave sanity and an organized life, it is a top destination. The challenge as we all know is the language and it is surmountable.

Back in Nigeria, i was not a selective person when it comes to food, i could literally eat anything and i felt food won't be a challenge for me when i get here but its been a shocker that i couldn't bare to re-taste plenty of their foods, they all look nice from afar but take a bite and you'll wish you could go back in time to just admiring from afar. They're SALT people; i mean they eat everything with salt, even boiled eggs or maybe its just Hamburgers. Finding the bread i could subscribe too wasn't a walk in the park, i have wasted a significant amount of euros on salty or tasteless breads or some that taste like sawdust before some good Samaritans from NL-connect prescribed "butter brochie" and "butter sandwich" for me, believe me i was rejoicing when i finally tasted it, i will only have been happier if my wife just delivered a baby...lol. I didn't pack plenty food from Naija, and i cannot say i'm paying for it. Everything is here, you just have to find the right place or substitute but if you're on a tight budget please come with plenty food AND WARM CLOTHES for winter, i can say clothing is really expensive and gets more expensive as winter approaches.

The time came back +1 today, maybe I could catch the time now because its been eluding my grasp ever since I came. NSIG has been informative and wonderful, RCCG Hammerbrook (Hamburg) has plenty supportive folks too. Now I understand why many do not have time for NL and I admire those that do.

With warm regards
