It's a one-on-one client to staff ratio..
However you have a valid point.. funding suppose to be made for more than one staff seeing the client's behavior. Unfortunately it has led to this sad tale. Work place safety board is investigating the case separately from the police to see if all safety precautions were put in place
I just hope they have a CCTV within or around the house.

Stabbed with what? Knife or something else? Why in heaven would knives be available to be picked up in a home for mentally unstable children. Such should have been locked away and taken out for use only by workers. Maybe there was an error of judgement somewhere

Im sure they were just trying to avoid staffing that place, thereby putting workers at risk.

And because the client wasnt being attended to properly because everybody is busy he will lash out and attack somebody.

The government always tries to cut corners when it comes to mental health facilities until a tragedy like this happens

Workplace safety will find out who left the kitchen open but wont agree to hire 2 or 3 extra ad-hoc staff to make the workload manageable.

The home must be one of those Group homes that provides housing for mental behavior clients and most of the times other people like staffs or other room mates of the client are present.
