please I am looking for a drive to own HP,
location is ibeju lekki local government.
tokunbo corolla 2005 / Honda civic 2005.
I will be grateful if anyone can help.
down payment of of 150k is the max I can provide.

It's really surprising to me how we compare Corolla to Civic for ehailing. I am not a mechanic and I know just basic things about cars but based on user experience, Corolla 2005 cannot be compared to Civic 2005 for uber and bolt business.

I bought a tokunbo 2005 honda civic and did the initial servicing with the recommended engine oil and ATF and set to the business with it. After like a month and half, the car starts having all sorts of issues and I eventually had to change the transmission and still battling with the car being too low to the ground and leg issues.

A month later, I sold the car for 40% off my purchase amount.

I bought Tokunbo Toyota Corolla 2005, used recommended oil and stuffs and set to work with it. November 2019 will be the 10th month i started with the Corolla and all I have done is just basic servicing and nothing more and I drive at least 4 days in a week.

If you are using Civic for personal use, I am very sure it is a very strong and good car, but drive it from morning to night, 5 times or more a week, for 3 months. It's not good enough.

I am not trying to shade dru23 but this is my experience driving both cars. 100% user experience.

There is no need disclosing that information, uber alerts the riders wen the fare is surge fare. And if you get to destinating and rider refuse to pay let dem go Uber is one of the most secured ride sharing platforms I've ever come across.

As for the other ride sharing platform I wish all riders can be made to pay via card.

For 2weeks now, I've not had a card trip on taxify.
The kind money that I'm owing them now eeh!!
They may send me their account number soon.

Sometime last week I complained about a whining noise that I thought was my power steering pump; turned out it was my water pump! So I got another one for N5000. To say the least, my mechanic told me N10,000. Jeez!

Has anyone got to fix a water pump before? What is the average labour cost for this type of fix?

Unfortunately, drivers don’t understand how much power they have. I don’t think 3 to 5 days of not driving would kill any driver, but 3 to 5 days of zero income and Uber would be forced to acquiesce to drivers’ requests.

Well maybe the one you bought had issues already.. My 05 civic tokunbo was rusted and I was in a rush to buy it. I bought via coparts .. I had no experience buying cars at the time .. When the car arrived Lagos my mechanic looked at it . And he complain that the car has too much rust and it would not last long. We had to change the gasket of the car. And a few months later it had transmission issues. We had to get a new transmission.. But overall the car did well and handle itself well ...buying from auction or lack of experience is like a double edge sword.. So my other civics I bought some I bought via auction and others via private sale.. Those civics were in good condition and my mechanic was impressed.. I always say if you can get a good one ,they are the best cars for ehailing.. I plan to add more to my fleet and have become more selective when buying the civic. The civics to me are low maintenance and the shocks are very strong. With the Nigerian bad roads ,I only replace one shock from the civic..this is my experince .. Again I plan to add more civics to my fleet..

Conclusion: whether you buying Corolla or any other cars. Be selective and make sure you know what you are buying....

And I stand by it. That person can't even buy one plot of land in Nicon. Like I said before, he's doing well but he's not high net worth.

Safety concerns aren't just about kidnapping SMH. You're asking me to put my life in someone else's hands behind the wheel and the way some people drive.... Nope, just nope.

Another reason I don't use Uber is I get car sick. Even my driver hardly drives me. I drive myself most of the time and he rides along lol. Overseas in some countries I either rent or for short distances take an Uber. The roads are better and I'm less likely to get carsick.

Back to my original point, the argument was pointless to begin with.
Hmm

is nicon town the only good place to stay in Lagos ? Why didn't you quote banana island too, houses in my estate go for btw 40 to 60 mil, that's mobile estate, many other places go for that amount too ,even in the US with 100k usd you are considered sub high net not to talk of a 3rd world country like naija lol, nicon town and banana island is expensive but doesn't mean you can't buy a house in other good places

I chose Nicon because it was in my eyeline when I was responding and I'm not familiar with a lot of places in Lagos because I keep to myself.

Please show me where your own post contradicts what I said about 200 million not being high net worth since you want to nit pick. Even according to your post $1m is the benchmark smh

This is your own link. I helped you since you didn't scroll all the way down. Notice it's not just $1m but $1m in LIQUID assets which is an even higher benchmark. But again, what do I know, I'm just a clown.

I HV had mine fixed before, though a Nissan. N not SUV. The water pump is located behind the pulley on the right side of the engine block.

So he removes the front right tyre, removes the pulley, n fix.

I used a kazeem, then maybe 2 or 2.5k service fee , but it depends on ur mech.
My mech charges fairly.

How many months will it take to service the HP?

Is the vehicle tokunbo ( brand new foreign used).

I
How sure are you about the vehicle? performance wise, if its naija used.

Why not do this?

Ask the person to allow you do rental for two weeks. This will enable you to see how the car performs. ( if its naija used)

The two weeks is a test of your ability, you would have to forgo two weeks of your savings to test-run.

NB: Do not pay money in advance on HP. Do it weekly going forward ( that's worst case). and not monthly, you are going to need funds when you start.

Offline trips r wat really gives money in Abj. Fares on uber n taxify r ridiculously low given the comfort of the rides involved.

Let's run a weekly scenario

HP- 25k
You- 25k
Fuel- 20k

Net- 70k.

That's a tall order for a beginner. So start from rental, so that you can learn the ropes.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, I appreciate.

Bro you can get a Tokunbo EOD for 1.3M even 1.2m if you can bargain well.
Got mine for 1.3M Tokunbo car is 1 year 5 months old and only change I have made is alternator and battery. Stick to the prescribed engine oil like Dru will always say 5w20 and you will enjoy the car also had to raise the Hight a little bit to overcome some areas from damaging the car but at a cost, the car will not be smooth driving on really high speed but at 120km/h you won't feel the difference.

is that what you took from what i wrote?

where did i write only foolish ceos use uber?

this is why i said this thread is an insight into thinking processes.

oya, i am ceo of my own company too and i am riding uber . so my last 10 drivers have also carried ceo.

someone was talking about how a ceo was riding in his vehicle and making calls. you think a ceo of a big bank will enter into an unsecured vehicle and start making calls for a stranger to listen in on?so that next thing you will hear on social media how bank so and so is taking over this company?

you don't understand that CEOs are also assets?

you remind me of one day when a bus conductor was saying - the same singlet i wear is the singlet fashola wears. we are all the same. thats the reasoning you are bringing to this argument.

if you actually think that a company that pays a person in hundreds of millions, has security dedicated to him 24/7, depends n him to direct to fortunes of the company will allow him to risk himself/herself, the company's operations and plans, for a ride in an unsecured platform then continue to wallow in your ignorance of i carried the ceo of a lower tier company. if it makes you feel better, so be it.

uber is of no benefit whatsoever to a high networt individual with driver, spy, police pilot vehicle.

This dude. So you can't think of any scenario where a CEO will request a ride on uber/bolt?

Get creative, bro. I told you earlier, you think with one side of your brain and by now it should be hurting. My sincere apologies if you see this an insult.

Any number if issues could happen that could warrant him to ride on uber. Even if that reason was to help someone. The universe writes it's script differently bro. The universe is creative. The universe is complex, yet simple.

The problem I have with you is you use long epistle to explain simple things.

Who is a CEO if the universe has created his/her fate to meet with someone in an unusual circumstance?

I actually know by experience that there is no car to be compare to Toyota corolla efficiency and ruggedness wise but I observed popular opinion here that civic is a cheap alternative to Toyota especially when when you are not cash buoyant.
All the same corolla is my first love
