God bless you for your input.
I actually know by experience that there is no car to be compare to Toyota corolla efficiency and ruggedness wise but I observed popular opinion here that civic is a cheap alternative to Toyota especially when when you are not cash buoyant.
All the same corolla is my first love

Another corolla fanatic... corolla fanatic are like the Muslim extremist... you can't reason with them

P.S you see those slay mamas and Yahoo ($200 iTunes boys) don't inform then till you are like midway to the journey. Heck, it's not even your job to inform them. Just follow your guts

Tongue in cheek. But is it professional to inform riders that they are in a surge trip?

I HV had mine fixed before, though a Nissan. N not SUV. The water pump is located behind the pulley on the right side of the engine block.

So he removes the front right tyre, removes the pulley, n fix.

I used a kazeem, then maybe 2 or 2.5k service fee , but it depends on ur mech.
My mech charges fairly.

Thanks. Appreciate.

Dru23 l know you are notorious for been rigid but call it what you want,I will always trust my experience with Toyota, I think it was specially made for Nigerian roads, why do you think almost all Government establishment suddenly changed from peogout to Toyota from early 2000's till date, transporters nko, you think it's coincidence abi?
people knows especially the middle class,I once use ford many years ago based on my experience then I think that vehicle is a sh*t ,no disrespect to anyone here or the company using ford, if give me ford now, I will immediately swap it for Toyota if need be add change on top.
what you failed to understand is that if conditions are right who will not like to use lastest Benz but we should always get the best out of the less we have.
Dru23 let me ask a question
Given the chance to own 7Civic cars to owing 5 Toyota cars for fleet on uber which one will you chose?
I know you answer is the former so I guess you don't underate or hate Toyota you're just a cold crude business man who is after profit nothing less.
like I said earlier get more from less.

The way some people argue over inanities and refusing to overlook makes me wonder if this platform has become a place for dumping the Nigerian frustrations. Abeg, let's allow the current drivers share their experiences, ex drivers, CEOs, 'woke' people, philosophers wanna be, kindly stay clear. I take God beg una.

You have posited well about Ford. That car should be renamed 'Evil Spirit ' . My life hasn't remain the same since i started using it 2 months.
I don't really know much about civics but i have heard a lot of rave reviews from this platform and one of my neighbor who's had the car for 2 years ( he did ehailing briefly between March 2017 - August 2017).

It's really surprising to me how we compare Corolla to Civic for ehailing. I am not a mechanic and I know just basic things about cars but based on user experience, Corolla 2005 cannot be compared to Civic 2005 for uber and bolt business.

I bought a tokunbo 2005 honda civic and did the initial servicing with the recommended engine oil and ATF and set to the business with it. After like a month and half, the car starts having all sorts of issues and I eventually had to change the transmission and still battling with the car being too low to the ground and leg issues.

A month later, I sold the car for 40% off my purchase amount.

I bought Tokunbo Toyota Corolla 2005, used recommended oil and stuffs and set to work with it. November 2019 will be the 10th month i started with the Corolla and all I have done is just basic servicing and nothing more and I drive at least 4 days in a week.

If you are using Civic for personal use, I am very sure it is a very strong and good car, but drive it from morning to night, 5 times or more a week, for 3 months. It's not good enough.

I am not trying to shade dru23 but this is my experience driving both cars. 100% user experience.

Corolla ok

And I stand by it. That person can't even buy one plot of land in Nicon. Like I said before, he's doing well but he's not high net worth.

Safety concerns aren't just about kidnapping SMH. You're asking me to put my life in someone else's hands behind the wheel and the way some people drive.... Nope, just nope.

Another reason I don't use Uber is I get car sick. Even my driver hardly drives me. I drive myself most of the time and he rides along lol. Overseas in some countries I either rent or for short distances take an Uber. The roads are better and I'm less likely to get carsick.

Back to my original point, the argument was pointless to begin with.

You shall live long my brother ..this is one of the reason I fear naija used cars or corolla.. The owners tend to neglect maintenance of the car .. In their mind na Toyota it does not need oil or regular maintenance.. Those cars get abused a lot

You’re a joy to read lacorsa / nitigriti. Radautoworks, you’d agree with me that the word CEO has really been abused.

When you see intelligent arguments, you’d know one. My advice is throw aside sentiments and get better in your thought process. Uber isn’t the end but just a means to an end for a lot of people.

I wouldn’t say beyond that.

I understand your point.. But to me personally Toyota cars are for people who can't maintain cars .. And for the situation on ground as ehailing is concern. I will pick civics over Toyota anytime or day.. Very easy to maintain as long as you don't abuse them.

Bro you can get a Tokunbo EOD for 1.3M even 1.2m if you can bargain well.
Got mine for 1.3M Tokunbo car is 1 year 5 months old and only change I have made is alternator and battery. Stick to the prescribed engine oil like Dru will always say 5w20 and you will enjoy the car also had to raise the Hight a little bit to overcome some areas from damaging the car but at a cost, the car will not be smooth driving on really high speed but at 120km/h you won't feel the difference.

Please bro, do you use it actively on uber?

Form your point of argument, Toyota corolla isn't the problem but the abusive owners.

Now the questions are;

Which one will perform longer and better with same abusive owners?
Which one will perform longer and better with same good maintenance?

I'm not a fan of any, just to learn.

What was the state of the civic when u bought it?
There are some hindsight factors that made it so.
Maybe u bought a salvaged or flooded car and it wasnt properly fixed.

maintenance apart, our roads are terrible. if you have three cars to me you are well to do,I believe you cannot overwork or overuse just one of the car hence you may never really understand the point but if you have just one and it's also ikoko obe, trust me with even a good maintenance culture, you will know the elastic limit of such car.
For records if all roads are like the roads in ikoyi/bourdillon road in Nigeria Then who cares if the car is Toyota or Honda or Ford, Just give me any good clean new car then I am fine.
why are the advanced country even with good road network, uses there car 6months-2year before transferring it to dumpyard(Africa)and people like ogbungbiwe2019,dru23,me will gladly pay some change to collect it.
Now they are change entirely to Electric vehicles(5.2mill around the world)
Only God knows when we have infrastructure for that.
my point is that it all about person economics/management

So today, i set out to work on uber because taxify refused to inspect my brother's Kia Rio, 2007 model, they said its small and has a low ground clearance, their words not mine.
I have uploaded every document on the uber platform but i haven't use it since i started e hailing last month with my Ford Mondeo aka Evil Spirit ,taxify was enough for me, so i added his vehicle to the platform with his vehicle inspection report done in January by the last driver .
Left Maryland around 7am and got a trip to Montgomery road, Yaba, then to Okota road, then another short trip to ilasamaja before a trip took me to mushin, then another to Conal road Yaba and another to Maryland.
Did about 5 short trips and headed home to eat and charge my phone.
We had a power cut, 20 minutes into the house and i decided to set destination trip to Lekki because i love driving on the island, mainland trips gets me apprehensive.
Long story short, destination trip didn't work out, had to settle for Deeper life, Gbagada. Dropped the rider and stayed 35 mins with no trip, went round Diya and two other streets, yet, no trip and i couldn't turn back home because of the heavy traffic i saw heading back towards Anthony-Oshodi expressway , so i blew empty to Ikoyi .
I have completed another 5 short annoying trips and my payment reads 5.900 naira. 10 fucking trips!
I don't think i have ever completed 10 trips on taxify when i was using The Ford Evil Spirit and i always gross between 8-9k on my 7th trip or so.
Elders, wey dey run uber hustle alone, abeg shay na like this e go dey be?
