Danielnino00: You have a very good memory. I did call for him to be tried in the middle because we all know Iwobi is crap. After observing Simon for a while I thought , Ok, this nigga is not a defender, not a,striker and pathetic with zero end product as a winger but he can dribble and packed a lot of gas to burn. So, where can we use him ? And I conceived the idea he might. be useful in the middle but I think it was Safari that reminded me the guy has zero vision ,conviction and purpose....just an inferior Victor Moses. Simon Moses is worthless in that team just like a wedge that come handy when you need it but never a working tool. |

Look at how fat and out of sbape a supposed coach looks. Imama Amakapo or whatever has laziness written all over him. I hate fat men! |

forgiveness: His name does not begin with K , O or C. According to the majority here you would think the SE team is made up of only 3/4 players. Then we have a lot of praise, excuses and preference for certain players who are doing nothing. For instance Nwakali a player that failed at Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie, then couldn't get started in Porto youth football. Then after Arsenal let him go for nothing he can't even get a game at Huesca in the Spanish 2nd tier. The last time he played a game of football was last season. But somehow defying all logic and reasoning he is in the U23 as captain. What an insult to other players working hard and progressing. Add to that people keep talking about him here like he Is Messi. And anybody who dares say anything contrary you are labelled HATER. There is a clear, continuous and consistent trend here. In which many arguments are anchored not on fact and substance but whim, sentiment and even prejudice. But that's what makes it such light hearted entertainment. 4 Likes |

Amapakabo Keeps U23 AFCON Spot Open For Germany-based Awoniyi Nigeria’s under-23 national team, Olympic Eagles’ coach, Imama Amapakabo has sensationally left a spot o[pen form SV Mainz 05 of Germany striker, Taiwo Awoniyi in his final squad list for next month’s African championship in Egypt, megasportsarena.com reports. With several top-rated foreign-based players not likely to be released by their various clubs for the African U-23 Cup of Nations in Egypt, which will serve as qualifiers for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, Amapakabo had already revealed plans to look elsewhere in filling his squad roster, but Awoniyi appears to have confirmed his availability for the competition. Additional information in this regard, though, indicates that the former SV Frankfurt of Germany, NEC Nijmegen of Holland as well as ex-Royal Mouscron and AA Gent of Belgium ace, who is on loan at Mainz from current English Premier League leaders, Liverpool, will miss Nigeria’s opening game against Cote d’Ivoire on November 9, but will be available for the team’s subsequent ties. Awoniyi, though, will not join the squad in Abuja, as they leave for Egypt on Thursday, with the legion of overseas-based lads already beefed up by the arrivals of Valentine Uzornwafor (Spain), Tom Dele-Bashiru (England), Muyiwa Olabiran (Russia), Samuel Atvati (Tunisia), Sincere Seth (Turkey), Kelechi Nwakali (Spain), Orji Okwonkwo (Canada) and Bright Enobakhare (England). Ahead of Thursday’s departure, Amapakabo has reportedly already dropped eight home-based players to make room available for as much as 16 from overseas, who will make the final cut to the tournament in Egypt, with the gaffer set to name his 23-man squad before they fly out. However, a handful of home-based players who are certain of making the trip to Egypt include goalkeeper Abubakar Adamu, defenders Ebube Duru, Olisa Ndah and Stephen Manyo, midfielder Fatai Gbadamosi as well as striker Sunusi Ibrahim. Well, I hope so too. Awoniyi will miss the first game but will be available for the rest of the tournament. Azubuike will make it to the first game and the second... It is subsequent games that may see him miss out. Reminds me of Ahmed Musa at the 2011 U-20 Afcon. BascoVanVeli: 1 Like |

From reports, K. Nwakali has performed well playing for the u23. If he compliments the coach's methods, I think it would be a wrong move to drop him for a player that does not suit the coach because of the challenges Nwakali is facing. Nwakali is even one of the reasons I respect Imama. 2 Likes |

I even mixed it up a little. Azubuike will miss the first game but will be available as from the second game till the possibly the semis (provided we make it that far).... He returns after the 19th. U-23 Afcon Final is on Nov.22. U23 AFCON : Istanbul Basaksehir Make Decision Over Release Of Nigeria U23 Skipper To NFF Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Dream Team VII skipper Azubuike Okechukwu could represent Nigeria at the upcoming U23 Africa Cup of Nations after the Nigeria Football Federation struck an agreement with Turkish Super Lig club Istanbul Basaksehir. Istanbul Basaksehir have agreed to release the central midfielder to the Nigerian Federation for the games that will hold 11-19 November, that is for only the fixed dates for international matches this month. What this means is that Okechukwu won't be available for selection when the Olympic Eagles tackle Ivory Coast (Nov. 9), assuming he is named to the 21-man roster. Istanbul Basaksehir 's last match before the international break will hold on November 10 against Ankaragucu. Should Nigeria qualify for the final of the U23 AFCON on November 22, Okechukwu is doubtful to feature in the game as he is expected to have returned to Turkey. The former Bayelsa United star played a key role as the Dream Team VI won the U23 AFCON in 2015. ***Ifeanyi Emmanuel Source: ANS 1 Like |

komekn: Listen here, mister, this forum is called Nairaland not Boroughland. We Nigerians have the sole right to use this platform to promote and encourage football growth in Nigeria either by hook or crook...this is none of your business. You know, like in England where your country football officials and their delusional irate fans use their own platform to push their crappy and over hyped players at the detriment of many superior talents including our own Ndidi. I dont follow English football because people shouldn't go where they are not needed unlike many Nigerians who salivate over English league...and just like I jejely mind my own business I implore you to face your borough boys and leave us alone with all our trashiness.
