Riders cannot be tracked with just that info

If I go under the bridge at Obalende, and I buy a SIM, register it with my address being in Gombe, then download the uber app, order for a ride and kidnap the driver..... How can Uber help the police with only that info?

I never see person wey dey argue blindly in a long while.

Family affair... Ain't goan say nothing. where's my boss Trojan?

You are the one who should be bothered that your partner sees your safety as inconsequential.

And will not adopt very simple methods to secure or advance your safety on the job

If you think being a disposable throwaway piece of meat is something to feel smug over, be my guest. Employees of smaller companies than uber have better safety on the job than proud partners

Kapish that on your next journey into a dangerous area
Like your area? He will cancel and you will make empty threats as usual grin

Are riders not charged for cancelling?

Because I know I had someone tell me to cancel- which I ignorantly did and I got billed.

So, if a driver who doesn't want to go somewhere and well within his right too, fails to cancel. You somehow think the rider is being proud for not wanting to cancel?

Smh. May the best (con)man win...

You'll only be charged for cancellation if driver has already arrived or driver had moved a reasonable distance towards your destination before you cancel. So you're safe to cancel if driver lets you know he's not going immediately the request is made

Please remind me not to argue with you again, this just exposed all your lies that you've been using uber for ages. Cancellation fee increases per cancellation? Taaaaa

Your story is both touching and encouraging.
Touching about what the guy experienced and having to be separated from his wife and lil kid for 6 years now. It is however encouraging reading what he has achieved in a year with the hustle.
If I may ask, is he driving his vehicle or on rental please?

I want to share a story about a guy who does uber for a living like us. These guy came into Lagos last year, a pastor and was assigned as my zonal leade and I was to work directly under him.. He needed a place to stay a few weeks later reached out to me and I said sure you can move in with me.. He was struggling for a while, till he completed his DL registration and started these uber hustle. These was last year around August.
These guy has a wife a d daughter who are in the UK, he was there too with them briefly before he was sent back home because of fake papers that one so call agent did for him, he didn't know. He was to stay away for 10yrs before he can re-aply. It's over six years now and the little daughter he left behind in the UK is now over 6years old, when he left they just gave birth to her.

With these hustle he diligently gave his all, I watch him pay half of his school fees for Rome business school(2500€) pay hostel accommodation 550€, pay 250k to a financial or loan shark to lodge 5M in his account for a month, bought plane ticket, all with these uber hustle. It took a year plus to achieve these with these same hustle that people look with disdain.

These job is like a cash cow, that can be fattened(by putting more time, energy, into it) and slaughtered or milked when the time is right.

Now we have folks like izzou and others who are gradually pushing there's. Let's not be discourage brov, no matter the challenge, keep your eyes on the goal.......

From "CEOs don't take uber", when his claim was bursted, it turned to "only foolish CEOs rake uber, uber isn't secure for them blablablabla....." and now from "no driver has ever been killed on uber", when his statement was again proven to be wrong, it changed to "Uber can track with phone number", when it was shown to him that it was practically impossible, it changed to "Uber and telcos should blablablaa........."

What's all these intelligence Summersaults?

Let me take this again. If a phone is involved in the commission of a crime and police are called in, they can get the call records of the perpetrator from mtn or any other telco company. With the data from the line, be it location, numbers called , transactions, the user can be traced. This has been used to facilitate arrests in other cases.

We had an issue just like that where someone was making threatening calls to a member of staff.

It is just that our police will not prosecute crimes unless they are motivated.

Nothing you do in this digital age can be fully and completely hidden.
Every single thing you do with your phone is logged on your providers servers

You obviously don't know anything... if I call those boys that hawk sims and I know I want to use it to commit a crime. I give them fake name and fake address and use the sim only for uber and I request and kill or kidnap the driver. How will the police locate me?

Criminals are smart, they would even tip those sim hawkers like 2k to even use any pic.

Also, we are tired of you referring any issue here with the one in your office. It's boring and annoying.

He remits 30k and has always been Consistent,no Saks as a matter of fact he drive on uber platform. His target is 20k, yes 20kper day and he has 95% success rate in achieving that figure every day of the week. He is leaving for Italy on Saturday. He is going to school.he enrolled for a masters program in Rome business school, so with the one year visa in Italy his wife and kid will come to visit and spend time with him while he works on a strategy to settle down in any parts of Europe.

So it's possible to achieve it, that which you have set for yourself that requires finance from these hustle all you got to do is put in the work

I like uber because it brings structure to riding. No arbitrary charges, better safety, means of arbitration, tracking.

Like most things in the internet, you are a vocal minority making ineffectual noises about how important you are. In spite of all the gragra on here, I get rides every single time

That’s all that needs to be said.

We are the owners of the cars. So park them at home and stop forming boss. You are NOTHING without the platform but a fellow with an idle car

I have just observed that you quite like stroking people and thats just not right.

We are here to share experiences and learn from each other. Don't stroke others or try to use polite insults to force your ideologies on people.

Stop allowing the devil make use of you... Cos las las now, you will switch to another username, while the true users of this platform will be banned and forced to stay some hours or days before being able to make use of their accounts.

Sure you are an intelligent lad and smart too... I just wish you can channel those qualities into a more encouraging and edifying posts, than posts which might cause fights and arguments.

Just an honest advice from me.

We learn every day. Drivers can cancel on their own and still get paid, but it might look dubious hence the request for riders to cancel.
Like I said this thread will enlighten a lot of people.

You register on Uber with the number.. Uber sends you a text.. Uber Driver called you with the same number & you think no log?

Even the phone imei number you used the telco will have it, so disposing the sim & using that same phone with another sim.. You will still be tracked..
Well except you want to be throwing away sim & phones everyday..

Issue with naija police is just multivation to do thier job

Please don't be telling people this! Most armed robbery and kidnapping cases are solved because the majority of Nigerian criminals still don't know this....

So am at one fleet management company where I went to have a meeting with one of the manager and the driver I want to take over the car he is driving. What I saw gave me a chill down my spin on the situation of the country bro...... They are having interview for drivers mass, men there is over supply of drivers and under supply of cars to drive. What am seeing in the atmosphere is the employee employer mindset, it's suppose to be a driver car owner partnership under the facilitation of the fleet management company..its a though terrain put here. God please help me to qui

PS.. I just drop or return the corolla that I was complaining bitter about, after hanging on for as much as I could- what broke the camel back was when car owner refuse to replace two tires that have twisted, with bomps(coco) and the wires already showing.

My brother I agree with you.... I lost so many potential good drivers.. I don't have any cars to put on the platform.. Drivers are calling and asking when am I going to get more cars for ehailing.. It has been very encouraging more than car sales that I do.. It is not easy for us partners too. Especially us that wants to make sure we get things done right ....

I'm a newbie, trying to complete my registration process with uber but got stocked at the bank details information where I had to supply Tax Verification Number (TIN) which I do not have. I keep getting *Required Field* while trying to submit.
How do I scale through this section as this as stalled my registration process.

I hope you can say that again if one of the killed drivers were to be someone dear to you, how can you compare our job with yours? Is there anything life threatening in your line of work? Drivers died because they went by the rules and didn't ask for/ couldn't reject trips to destinations they shouldn't have and you expect us not to learn from that all because of Ts and Cs.
Nigerian soldiers that ran away from boko haram in sambisa, was it in the contract they signed that they should run from insurgents?
I've carried uber staffs before and I asked for destination not even knowing they were staff, yet they didn't block me because my way of approach didn't warrant being blocked so I dont know why y'all are fighting the fight for uber, leave them let them chase us from their platforms if they're not satisfied with our level of professionalism, it's not in riders place to tell me to find another platform, is it ya platform? undecided
