Thank you very much.
But, what is Germany visa processing time? Worst come to worst, how long can it take before they return an applicants passport? Or Visa decision?

Visa decision after interview takes 4 to 6 weeks at most 8 weeks in rare cases. However, if there is a problem with any of your documents it is possible to get a rejection as fast as 1 week after interview or there about.

There is an association of Nigerian students in Germany called (Nigerian Scholars in Germany) or NISIG you can connect with them on facebook before leaving. Also some schools organize a buddy program where you're paired with a Nigerian/African schooling there that will help show you around the school and environment...
Note: this is for Germany I don't know of other countries you can find out

Yea, it's me Basalt and I always don't wanna paint words. I am a graduate of Geology from UNN (with over 4point GP).
I received much discouraging advice especially from my relatives in America and even my friends telling me that since I have a high GP and still young I should continue applying for jobs in Nigeria because Abroad is no longer what it used to be. I was listening to their lies and applying to non existing jobs for complete 2YRS.
Out of all those applications, I was able to secure only private school jobs which paid less than 30,000 with lots of stress on my life. After 2years of frustration and earning like a rat, I came back to my senses.

I sold everything I had, borrowed money from my elder sister's husband (God bless them for me) and entered Germany last month on student visa because to me, all die na die (even if I perish in Germany I will perish happily than continue crying in silence in Nigeria)

On getting here mehn, the first thing I regreted was not leaving Nigeria earlier. I blamed myself for listening to their lies and discouragement all these while thats why I deem it important to open this thread and pray Moderator pushes it to the front page because I know there are many people receiving such discouragement as we speak.
within three weeks of comming here, I have a part-time job that pays me 13.5 euros per hour (I work for 80hrs per month) in addition to that, I have one mini job that pays me 445 euros per month.

My accommodation is 350 Euros per month and my living expenses are about 150 Euros a month or highest 200 if I spend heavily.
In addition to that, I have access to a world-class education for almost free and stand a better chance of getting a professional job after my masters and you know what that means?
Now do the Maths and tell me how it is not better than less than 30,000 Naira which I was earning in Nigeria before leaving?

Some people will say I am lucky but honestly, I am yet to see any student in Germany die of hunger here unless he is lazy.
I repeat, NEVER you listen to anyone telling you to remain in Nigeria UNLESS you are earning fat salary in Nigeria, even the so-called politicians send their children here.
.

Good day Mr basalt,I'm in need of credible information as I want to make a drastic decision in my life, which if not properly advices might make costly mistakes, pls you're in the right position to guide me,I just sent you a mail plz respond ASAP when you're free, thanks in advance man,a broda needs help..tnks

Its always easier migrating on a Student Visa. In this case you are legal and also allowed to work for some few hours Daily. Its always easier. Those advice is going directly to those whom intend travling on a visiting visa and also planning on over staying.. I in this Case its always difficult for such individual because They are not allowed to work. Their chances of succeeding is 80:20 in my opinion I'll say those advice are valid. Because i strongly believe no family will discourag its relatives not migrate abroad and study if the opportunities occur. They only discourage on travling without a proper planning.

Its always different thing travling on a Student Visa and travling on visitors visa. Op your case is different ...no special thing about it. I've a friend in stugart he is making more money than you. This whole thin is all about your planning. I believe anybody who love you will always discourage You about travling on short visa and planing on over staying because you are bound to suffer. In this case i think there advise is valid and on point. Your Chances of succeeding as an illegal migrant is 80:20. No family will ever discourage its relatives not to go and study abroad when opportunities occour. Alot Of people are suffering in Germany or other parts if Europ because they are illegal. I'll still discourage my love one not to travel illegally. Reason with me.

Unfortunately I wont be able to reply PM (I don't even have access to the email I used to register this my account) neither will I reply private questions like
Where do you work?
Which city are you in?

not because of pride but because I totally wanna keep this account anonymous and faceless and don't wanna reveal any private details online.
Ask me any question (that doesn't involve me mentioning any names) then I will answer you accordingly and satisfactorily whenever I have time (because I usually work all night (12am till 7am) and face school and language parol during the day, so hardly get time).
All questions (that are not private) will be answered here so that others will benefit. I usually get time during the weekend especially on Sundays

One of the things you will notice when you arrive in Germany is that Chicken is so cheap. with only 2.5 Euros, you can buy full frozen chicken at Netto market (my favorite super makt)
2.5 Euro is almost nothing here because a day at work will give you tens of euros. Imagine when you work 4hrs a day even at the rate of 10 euros per hour, that is 40 Euros just within 4hrs in a single day, you see why person wey ever discourage anyone to come Germany for studies is not a good person?

Secondly, from experience, I noticed that Germans are really helpful when you are searching for direction but you really need Google map here, its very important and also sabi how to use Google map because everly you go miss road when you come here new. Google map is your friend here and almost everyone here even the indigenes use it.

For lectures, you have to know thyself and register the courses you can do. Don't register for 10 courses when you no too sabi book or when you spend many hours working otherwise you mess up your grade because courses here (especially science-related are really more complex than what you are used to in Nigeria).
Remember your total G.P target should not be less than 2.5 German grade coupled with your internship and at least B2 language skill to be more employable after your studies.
For me, despite the fact that I am academically above average, I still registered for only two courses and then paid for intensive German class and use the remaining free time for WORK WORK WORK.

I will talk about Sex in Deutschland tomorrow if I am free.
Gute nacht Alle

Yeah, exactly my point. I am even earning shit. Many students earn more sef.
I perfectly understood your point, I felt so terrible when one of my relatives in America even told me MUST I TRAVEL TO GERMANY FOR YOUR MASTERS? WHEN WE HAVE GOOD SCHOOLS LIKE UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN AND UNIVERSITY OF BENIN AND EVEN YOUR ALMA MATTER
After hearing that question I stopped communicating with him and I am so happy that he is among those viewing my status now.
I don't even bloody care if they see this post sef. Na God go bless my sister husband for me and bless my sister too that talked to him, I will never forget their support all the days of my life, I will make sure I reciprocate that love in thousand fold
