ornicus:See how Reno is still grinding ur balls since yesterday. What a life of pains? I'm sure you're a roadside economist not to know that every business looks to minimise cost and maximise gain. Mumu thinks transferring cost is like ABC without realising that increase in cost leads to reduced demand and even substitution of products. Taah!! Go away!! Iamgrey5: May God bless you. If Textile industry can boast of 3trillion in just one quarter what stops them from using such huge money to revive the textile industry. Now i understand, after collecting bailout money from government, the same money was diverted into importation of textile materials. Where is the sense of patriotism of Nigerian business men. They prefer to import good when they have resources to produce the good within Nigeria. Just like our politicians will steal Nigeria money only to transfer their stolen money abroad to boost such country at the expense of Nigeria 2 Likes 1 Share |

Agboriotejoye: obviously you have never worked anywhere in you life before. why do you think a generator is a standard part of the design for any factory why do several FCMB factories opt for gas and no connection to the national grid? why are alternative power solutions springing up? because business must be done. rather than wail, can do people find a way. wailers do what they do best. wail 1 Like 1 Share |

India's textile industry that employs 45 million people is worth 108 billion dollars annually. UK textile industry is worth 9.1 billion pounds, employing about 100k people. Some idiot wants us to believe 3 trillion Naira = 6 billion pounds worth of goods are at risk over 1 quarter in a year. Who be the mumu? 2 Likes |

docadams: You're acting dumb now. Instead of just saying what contraband they are importing you start rambling to next topic. Lol you do realize legitimate business happens at land borders. You president is opening then in January. You're question is irrelevant to the point I made. The textile mills shut down because they weren't competitive. Smuggling is just one factor, along with power and material cost (cotton). Like most protectionist clowns you dont want ask why the textile mills cost were so high compared to asia. If these other factors were addressed the mills would have survived without so much government support. Readily available raw materials like cotton, for the production of textiles had become a problem. Nigerian farmers were experiencing lower yields of cotton and could not access improved variants like the disease and pest-resistant, high yielding biotechnology cotton. Petrochemical products such as the dyes, polymer and other synthetic materials being produced in Nigeria, were also not readily available. Inadequate power supply had also become a problem, resulting in higher costs of producing Nigerian textiles as power supply accounts of 45 percent of the production costs. 1 Like |
