Hmmm seriously?
On paper.. although SD 730g has a lower antutu score, I would recommend it over mtkg90t for anyone who can go the extra mile in terms of adding cash since phones with 730g are way more expensive than note 8 pro. In as much as I loved what mtk has done with the g90t, Snapdragon SoCs are "more stable"

Lol, you really exposed him there. I always wonder why most people that use tweaks and mods feel like they've super powers.

It's not like they were even the ones that wrote the code for the tweak undecided
I wonder why you guys feel everyone has a dubious agenda when it has to do with issues here. Exposed me? Funny you! Have you asked yourself what I stand to gain.
I remember not too long ago when someone posted that he couldn't find ultra battery saving mode on his miui 11, I was quick to inform him that it's available on miui.eu. So pls take a chill pill. I hate to be a part of any form of negative vibe here.

Hello everyone. Please i have a question.. I just installed a custom rom on my phone for the first time ever. I just read some guides on the internet and i followed and i was able to get it done and now its working perfectly. Now my question is, later on if i wanna install another custom rom or upgrade the current one, would i have to wipe the whole system again like i did this first time? I'm worried about losing all my Apps and setups again in the process. I'm presently running on Android 9 and i believe Android 10 version will be released for the phone pretty soon.

Secondly, whenever i am putting on the phone, it first brings a page where it says my phone is unlocked, phone will start in 5 seconds blablabla before it now takes off the page and then goes to the page of the real startup {lineageOs startup}. Is it normal to first be seeing that thing whenever i put the phone on? I was thinking it would just show the startup straight. Thanks in anticipation

1. To upgrade, just flash the current one over the old one. It's called 'dirty flashing'.

To flash another custom ROM, go to twrp menu and wipe everything (except internal storage). Before that, backup your apps with titanium backup pro, check YouTube on how to use it. It must have root privileges

2. It's normal.

There is thread for tweaking incase you have any issues.

That Note 8 Pro sha e get as e be.

For the price they're offering one can as well get a tried and tested SD device rather than experimenting with MTK.

A lot of reviews have proved that this chip is capable.. just read an XDA review yesterday. Gameplay is also decent.. and it has been proven on heavy usage without hardcore gaming the battery will at least last a day. I should also mention something about the battery drain test someone mentioned.. we know its built on 12nm manufacturing process, so we don't expect the chip to outperform a SD 710 if other factors are kept constant , then we have amoled screen which also reduces battery's drain(but unfortunately not present in note 8 pro).. and a lot of other factors. all in all I think the phone has an excellent battery performance based on the review. The only problem I think this chip have is probably stability. Like on pubg on example playing on 60fps is possible but not stable. Frame rates drops as low as mid 40 happens. Probably will get better considering its still relatively new.. XDA in conjunction with Xiaomi is also giving the phones to some of their "talented developers" for custom ROMs and other tweaks support. The complete kernel source has also been released. So I think if you ask me, support for the device looks promising.
This post might be biased cos I won't lie I'm in love with the phone, plan to get one myself this month but no doubt there are some facts in this post

I guess you're a bit new to the thread, some of the people complaining about it have been using Xiaomi for years now before people started hearing about it here, and based on something similar that had happened in the past they're drawing people's attention to it so that no one will say they weren't warned. If you've been on the thread long enough you'll have seen when one or 2 persons come back pointing fingers saying they weren't informed about a certain thing. The more reason why people's attention are drawn to what ever might lay ahead of them.

Please for your own good put sentiments aside and learn from debates, nobody is all knowing.
We're all learning that's why you see solutions are given to over 80% of what ever issue arises.

Have a wonderful day

Leave him na grin he'll even join them then to call Xiaomi a scam

Don't get it twisted bruh, my comment was not a personal attack or whatever.

But when you do use a custom ROM you should know some features missing from the official MIUI will be available on a platter to you. So those comparisons are really not necessary, especially when responding to a noob.

Cheers

You said the Camera Sony IMX 586 48Mp Sensor is not sharp sorry you still have a lot of work to do.

ItyP and DlawTECHY is it not the same A3 you reviewed here?

And it is pronounced Me(Mi) and not M I.

You also need to improve on tech knowledge if you want to be a tech reviewer.

Have you seen a phone with that style of notch(See Drop or Water Drop) with a selfie flash?

When last did you even get selfie flash on a flagship camera?

Your photography skills need sharpening.

Even Indians that complain of everything don't complain of Mi A3 Main Camera Sensor.

GCam even dey to help if you no Sabi snap picture.

Your review was appalling and lacked depth.

My apologies if you feel offended but that is the plain truth
am telling you ,the name calling tangled my ear,i do hear people in my area calling it that way M I and i will be like what the hell

Lol, if you have the time, read the last 100-200 pages of this thread. From my understanding, you shouldn't just air your own opinion alone, you should verify what is being said by others using the phone as well.

You said it's the first phone from Xiaomi running Android One! That's a NO. If you had read people's post like I mentioned earlier you'll know that all the Mi A series runs stock android. Hence, we still have A1 & A2 before A3.

For the camera, a lot of people has testified to the fact that they've been crowned *chief photograghers* in their departments and offices because of this same phone yet you say the cameras aren't up to par with the likes of TECNO - Like are you for real?

It's an established fact that Xiaomi phones don't come with an *earpiece* out of the box so you don't need to fuss about it.

You said you're not tech savvy but if you had taken time out to READ!, Your review would have been better.

And it's better called a durability test dear not strength test.

Nice try though, you'll get better but try to read things up first.
don't blame her on the comparison with tecno, because that's where her knowledge reached, from the moment i heard her call the phone M I that's was when i know she doesn't know anything about phone or the one she claim to review

You sound like one who is not only passionate about the Note8 Pro but tech savvy too.

But how does one recommend it just coz it "looks promising" over a proven & more balanced device running on SD like the Mi 9se, Poco etc?

Xiaomi does not have a good track record for supporting MTK devices

Simply because it's cheaper... Not everybody have the money to drop easily like that.. personally I'm not interested in custom ROMs and all other "gimmicks" (my word). Gcam is probably the only thing I'm interested in,I. Don't even take picture like that. The performance is what I'm after without spending too much. So it's just the best choice based on those reasons

Nairalanders I Hail Thee...

Its quite unfortunate that most of the people who sometimes dismiss some phones have never seen or used some phones they dismiss...
Its only on nairaland some people using Redmi 5 note will be dismissing Redmi 8 note because they did use a processor that doesn't please them...

Also you see people reviewing phones they have no clue about or even know anything about the brand...

One thing have come to understand through my Journey thru series of phones and brand is paper reviews and Hands on reviews are totally different and also a one time Hand-use of a phone can't expressly review the full functionality of the Phone...

So Redmi note 8 uses MTK So who cares.... You ain't as brilliant as the phone manufacturer they clearly know what they were doing... HAUWEI Y7prime came with SD450 some say that processor is too low.. Damn it who forking cares.. Most of the people using the Sd450 HY7 prime are happy with battery optimization and comfortable with the Phone.... Its plays soccer and PUG

To the New User's Of Xiaomi there are some trusted peeps you can listen to but there are some that aint worth it.. Someone that is still on Redmi 5, is claiming pro on Redmi 8 why should u listen to that

My Advice is make Yr research on the phone of your chose not only on GSM arena or Nairaland.. Make sure it suits your taste and go for it...

80% of the people on Redmi note 7 here only bought it for Games and camera nothing more..gcam can even make redmi note 3 looks awesome tho

Don't waste money on a device you don't need because people said it.. Follow your pocket and heart
its obvious you know little about phone and specs, the reason why there is review is to know pros and cons and balance with your budget ,nobody was calling any device bad or worse,it was just a harmless review and comparison,we all know that mtk tends to get hot at a point and their low battery optimisation which made a 3800mah battery on snapdragon lasted more than 4500mah battery on mtk,as for the PUGB,there are settings limits to which a certain level of snapdragon or mtk can reach,a almost all smart phones can play PUGB but on a different settings.
So review was based on experiences and encounters with such phones.
As for me i love people telling me an honest review of something so as for me to know what am expecting if i settles with ,
But las las its your money and choice

You can send a proxy to go pick it up with proper identification in your absence.

Aside Nipost officials it'll really be hard to know how long they can hold on to your package before they return it.
