Is it just me observing these trend or something, when you set out very early you hardly get long trips (except for riders going to the airport) just short trips of workers going to work. I stay in badore you only get trips going to VI, lekki phase 1 etc, then subsequent trip will be people going to office.. 1000 naira trips with lots of traffic.

But those that stay back, or those that leave or book a ride from 10 am upwards most times are going to far distance, theyvarw not employee going to work but going for meetings, business etc, hence the high chance of long and stress free trips..

These is what i have observed from my end
Your observations are correct, I once said it here. But it works well on Uber

Uber will revert it if drivers stop taking trips on their platform...Drivers should only do surge trips on uber....log off on uber especially at busy hours to create surge...when riders start paying double...they will run..
Some hardworking drivers will complete that 30 trips within 2 days sha...but people like us that go online on the side cant even do 20 not to talk of 30...I run the 15 trips to Saturday sef...haven't gone online since the 20...now 30...
Drivers have the power if only they know how to use it....

Am just trying to think of the 1st degree, second degree and third degree effect of these 30 trips on the whole ecosystem.

Cause:
Uber increase the 3% reduce fee to 30trips

Effect:
1st degree: drivers becomes reluctant to drive on the platform, they stop focusing on uber apps alone, many drivers start using bolt and pray for a third app(with huge financial muscle)

2nd degree: demand (rider request) exceed supply(available drivers on platform), surge begins to build up, more money for uber as a result of surge, rider are forced to pay more, there waiting time for a ride sky rockets,

3rd degree: the riders get frustrated and probably starts using bolt
The drivers gets frustrated and major on bolt
It becomes difficult to pay remmitance, even if they do there take home drastically reduces
Driver now have to put more time to try and increase the the slice they take from the chunk of the market
Margin for both partners gets affected
Car owners due to stories will pull out there cars from the platform leading to less number of cars
Etc

PS.. One thing is certain the market will react but I don't know in what direction

Simple logic ...uber is likely seeing how the market will react.. Drivers will move to bolt and uber revert back to after 20 trips 3% commission ..But it is up to the drivers to work together as a team ....If 60% drivers move to bolt now now , uber will think twice and might say 3% after 15 trips.....Either way something has to give

Ps.. You said it will be hard to pay remittance.. .most drivers only do either bolt or uber.. Some of my drivers speficially do bolt ... if bolt wants to gain market share now .. This is the time for bolt to reduce their commission since uber is acting up.. The earlier the better for bolt to take advantage

You know when these whole e hailing company started there USP was you drive per time and make money by the side while doing it...if we all are driving just per time there will not be a problem because I know irrespective of the number of trips I do, I will still make something out of it. But with the Nigeria model these USP doesn't stand or holds water. People build a full blown business around these e hail sector and with the app providers trying to bite more or take more chunk, something will definitely go down

Have been having these inner push, these energy pulling me towards phase two of my plan, which actually was the reason I opted for uber ehail driving business.

The plan was the earnings from uber and bolt will fund the gig or business I want to build, it will act as my cash cow, And think it's time to dig another well like Isaac With all these increase of % by uber and bolt.

I have mastered the hustle, I can now pay my partner back to back to back without shaking or having fear of defaulting..its time to multiply the earning from uber.

PS.. ****Uber cash flows for me
******The car will be used for these other business especially for sale and marketing running around.

@boldened very true... I remember when BIGI came into the market with 60cl bottles... Coke, Pepsi ET AL had to follow suite cos they obviously must have recorded a dwindle in sales then with their 50cl PEP bottles. Theeen all of a sudden Coca-Cola stupidly changed tactics and pegged RRP for their 60cl bottles at 150 naira while the 35cl bottles were sold for 100 naira...LOL! with BIGI still selling their wide variety of drinks at 100 naira those guys kept cashing out as we all know the average Nigerian wants to have more for less. Not like cocacola products weren't still selling though but their poor decisions gave their major competitor-BIGI a chance to soar.
Just last week I started seeing these coke fanta and sprite 50cl bottles being sold at 100 naira again. Even though it's still 10cl short of what BIGI(that has won numerous Nigerian hearts) is offering, it only goes to show that "dem no dey tell person".
As you've rightly said if Bolt wants to comfortably dominate the Nigerian market, now is the time to reduce their commission fee to 15% or even less and it's a done deal.
And even if Bolt chooses not to make changes, When partners start ditching UBER massively or only go online at times of surge as someone earlier suggested, I'm sure UBER'll give this their silly move a rethink swiftly.
But the question is ARE NIGERIANS READY?

15k is the least anyone should realistically target... Same target I had 1 year ago when j started, nothing has changed, I've posted screenshots over different periods showing consistently similar earnings.
My hours online are there too so you can see that one doesn't mean I overwork myself and the car.
I've never believed in the doomsday scenario and I still don't.

I'm still of the opinion that e-hailing is not designed for our "rental package". Just like Air bnb. Na we create our own business model out of am
... But what do I know
