To my lovely e family here, My Prince Charming arrived last night nov 4 weighing 3.4kg via emergency c section as the cord was tied around the neck after being in labour for 2 days and I didn’t dilate more than 2cm but I saw hell. At first I was leaking so I was admitted . Then my water broke last night but still no dilating. My boy is the cutest thing ever. Both mom and boy are doing absolutely great. Have to heal now

I have already added 10kg at just 21 weeks. Doctor said I need to watch my diet as my blood pressure is getting high and I’m at risk of pre eclampsia. It’s hard because these cravings are too much for me and all I want to do is eat I don’t want to get myself too worried, I just have to make the suitable amendments. Just praying i don't add more than 20kg in this pregnancy.

But apart from that everything is good. Baby boy is bigger than average.

Garden egg leave, wash properly, you can cook it, chew it raw or juice it. Some people said they added milk too to it, well, the one time I tried that method I purged till thy kingdom come. Hope this helps.

Have you ever heard of the FDA? Briefly, it's a federal government agency of the United States, that is saddled with the responsibility of impacting/regulating public health through the supervision and control of such things as drugs, vaccines, cosmetics, dietary supplements, even sperm donation. Suffice to say, it is like the NAFDAC of the entire world. Countries who are smart enough, produce significant portions of the food and medical products that the USFDA approve for Americans to consume and use in their everyday lives.

Now, the FDA through their laudable research, came up with a specific standard for dietary supplements that a pregnant woman should exercise, to safely develop a fetus...especially in cases where there might be nutrientional gaps, cos you never know. They ask you to look for any prenatal vitamin that includes:

400micrograms (mcg) of folic acid.

400 IU of vitamin D.

200 to 300 milligrams (mg) of calcium.

70 mg of vitamin C.

3 mg of thiamine.

2 mg of riboflavin.

20 mg of niacin.

6 mcg of vitamin B12.

10 mg of vitamin E.

15 mg of zinc.

17 mg of iron.

150 micrograms of iodine

In all my time in Nigeria, the only readily available prenatal I know that follows this standard to the letter and adds more in some of its versions, is Pregnacare. Sadly, a lot of patients think it's expensive. So what better way would you suggest the problem be alleviated and still targeting a similar outcome, than to recommend substitutes that closely follow the standard? Sadder still is the fact that most people these days (even Naija docs succumb too) will just pick three to four, out of them all -- maybe folic acid, calcium, iron....and be happy with their decision...even though we are a meatpie generation and don't eat as appropriately as our forefathers who didn't use supplements.

So so so....Pregna Multi is neither new, nor is it bad. I used to know it and it sure will do. I know it contains all the required nutrients, but some are a few milligrams off the standard. You can compare the constituents written on the pack with the list above or any list of the standard dietary supplements for pregnancy you know, to get the assurance you need.

are we using the same hospital? This is exactly what was given to me plus Amino guard. Its said to have 24nutrients, I intend to ask my gynaecologists why he added Amino guard to it cos both drugs cost almost 6k.

These doctors work hand in hand pharmaceutical reps trying to sell new drugs. You're right to ask first, read the leaflet well before taking and if you don't like it, ask to have it changed at your next appointment.

I had a good dose of morning sickness during my 1st trimester, had food aversions but my appetite increased. 2nd trimester was pretty easy but 3rd trimester, I was tired of being pregnant. I gained almost 22kg as I was always eating.
My EDD was Oct 11. On 29th Sept, I saw bloody show then I started having bearable contractions at 7-10 mins apart. I came here to ask being FTM (thanks to all who responded), I eventually called my hospital and was advised to come when I see water or the contractions come in less than 5 mins. The pains got worse in the night but I could still bear it. By 6.30am next morning, I felt a gush of water and the pain got worse, we rushed to the hospital. VE was done upon arrival (mhen that thing is painful) and told I was 4-5cm gone. I was already saying in my mind that I should have delivered by afternoon but that wasn't my case. By noon, I was examined and was 6cm gone. I was placed on drip to fast track the process. At 3pm I was fully dilated but the intensity of the contraction reduced, the monitor showed it wasnt exceeding 40. At that time I was already on the 2nd bag of oxytocin, the pains got worse but contractions weren't severe and not lasting for long. At 4pm, still the same story and I was given the 3rd bag of oxytocin still no improvement. My Gynaecologist did another VE and said he could feel my baby's head but it's in a transverse position that if i dont deliver by 6pm, CS will be conducted. Already I was in another planet cos of the pains. I didnt even have the urge to poo or wee when the midwife asked. DH didnt think twice before signing the consent form and I was wheeled to the theatre. I was given the spinal anaesthetic which made the lower part of my body numb but I could see what was happening. After 13 hours of labor, my princess was brought out at around past 8. Her cry was faint but started increasing when they were bringing out stuff from her nose. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all but it ended in praise. Mother and baby alive. I thank God there was no complication. Kudos to the hospital too cos all the medical staff who attended to me are pros. The healing process is quite fast.
Babies indeed come with blessings cos what DH has been expecting since he eventually got it after her delivery. She is also very peaceful, doesnt disturb at night. Everyday I look at her and smile because she is worth the pains.
God bless all mothers, my respect to them trippled. Thanks to everyone on this thread, you mamas rock. I wish belleful mamas safe delivery, those TTC, your testimony is on the way.
