Investigation by our reporter has revealed that the major textile and rice markets in Cotonou, Benin Republic, have seen a massive decline in patronage following the complete closure of the land borders and increased clampdown on smuggling. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/investigation-border-closure-bites-hard-on-rice-textile-shops-in-benin-republic.html 19 Likes 2 Shares

A welcome development. Although most people are feeling the heat now but if this is sustained for 2 years as opined, our economy will experience a dramatic positive turn around. 67 Likes 4 Shares |

Another thread for 180 million people to masturbate on. Not some technological innovation, or some breakthrough in science but a mere border closure. A situation that requires tact to fish out the main culprits and u simply make a decision that encompasses all, even the innocent. It's only in black Africa that this calls for celebration, especially if there's nothing else to celebrate. SMH. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

I hope when the border is eventually opened it would not be business as usual. Rice that is now 28k will not come down or probably come down to 16k which was what it was before the closure and all we would have achieved was to just punish ourselves. As the borders have been closed what has been the measures taken to help sustain ourselves as a nation? Useless govt, always doing the right things the wrong way and then complicating the already dire situation for ordinary citizens because of lack of clear cut assessment of the situation by incompetent people who lack capacity to think through a situation or scenario thoroughly. Hope the only thing we will gain in all this is not the self bloated ego that when we closed our borders neighbouring countries were adversely affected. 3 Likes 1 Share |

this buhari is a fool and a foolish man before the border is being closed he suppose to have provide an option for the citizens in the sense that even if their is no rice importation for 3 month the citizens wont have any reasons to cry or shout in awe but the reverse is the case we are now buying one fucking local dirty rice in which if u did not crack stone when eating it u will see black black stuff in it 2 Likes 1 Share |
