Alright. It's been over 2 days since I got myself immersed in Miui 11, and like I promised, I'm gonna do a review. That way, fam members who are still on Miui 10 or lower versions will get to know what they're missing or not missing.
For a start, Miui 11 is packed with some fresh and eye-catching features. Honestly it still beats me why some persons here opined that Miui 10 and Miui 11 are more or less same. I don't get it. Pls allow me to guide you through the new additions on Miui 11:
UI Design. Perhaps, the most noticeable change on Miui 11 is the new material UI design. Although icons/UI look minimalistic, it's very bold, colorful, crisp and stylish. That of Miui 10 ain't bad to be fair, but it lacks the crispness of Miui 11. Miui 11 made major changes in the general looks of Rom's UI starting from the boot logo.
Effects. Another new stuff is the transitions effects - to be fair, it's quite pleasing to the eye and makes the whole Miui experience elegant and enjoyable. You notice these effects while opening/closing apps, navigating through settings and toggling the drop-down menu switches. Very sweet.
Screen time. Miui 11 is equipped with a very special feature called "screen time". Now, if you're on android 10, then there's a big chance you already know about this. "Screen time" is very similar to Google's "Digital Wellbeing" feature (I personally think Xiaomi copied this from Google). This new feature basically tracks your activities, giving you an alarmingly detailed info on how much time you spend on your phone (daily, weekly, monthly), the time is further narrowed to apps, giving you precisely how much time you spend on each app. It even lets you set daily screen time limits for apps, individually. That way, you can control your addiction to certain apps and focus on more relevant things. I think this's a fantastic feature. It's one of my favorites.
Font. Miui 11 also has a new font feature called "font weighting". It essentially helps you to adjust the boldness of your font without changing the individual font. Also, a new font (MilanPro) was introduced, and it's actually a nice font. Although it has a striking resemblance with Google's font, "Google Product Sans" - makes me wonder if Xiaomi got their inspiration from there..
Game Turbo. Quick Replies. Good news for gamers. With major improvements, the Game Turbo feature is also available on Miui 11 under Settings - > special features. It optimizes the phone's RAM & GPU and readies it for any game, ensuring optimal game performance. There is also a new feature called "quick replies" which helps you to conveniently send instant replies on supported apps.
Status Bar. Status bar icons such as network bars appear to have been reduced in size on Miui 11. Network Type symbols such as H+ or 4g now sits on top of the the network bars rather than the sides as the case was on Miui 10. Also, the 4g symbol disappears when you turn off the data (creating space for more icons) and reappears when data is turned on. This wasn't the case with Miui 10.
Battery. The battery performance on Miui 11, in my opinion, is better than that of Miui 10. No lies - I was able to squeeze out a couple more minutes (somewhat 40 - 55 mins). I use RN5 pro - so it's very possible that the performance may vary across other models. Thus, my assessment is not definite.
To spare you some time reading this annoyingly long post, there're some other noteworthy additions to Miui 11 which I'm not gonna explain further. They include:
* Improved Calculator (calculator now supports picture-in-picture feature) * Drop-down menu toggle button for Dark mode. * New dynamic sound effects. * Blur app preview (lets you blur apps on the "recent" menu) * MiShare (Similar to Apple's Airdrop. For sharing apps/files seamlessly) * Improved file manager (I still prefer the file manager on Miui 10 tho) * Ambient Display (Doesn't work as I use RN5 pro)
Not sure if I'm missing anything, but these are some changes I was able to spot. The display colour I complained about on Pie is still there, but there is a slight improvement. TBH, with all the features on Miui 11, I'm not sure I'll be moving back to 10. It's just too much to ignore. The guys complaining about Miui 11, especially the ones planning do downgrade, I wonder if they're aware of all these features or simply chose to ignore them. Miui 11 is a masterpiece and it should be forward ever, backward never. It can only get better. Huge thanks to Xiaomi & to whoever came up with the idea of opening this thread. I bless the day left Sammy for Xiaomi. Very concise review. I noticed you're on Xiaomi.eu rom on RN5, please what items did you wipe before flashing the rom? |

Thank you so much. So there's no way I can use MTN 4G on the CC9e, right? Because somebody here was talking about installing the Global ROM software in the CC9e, don't know if that could be possible. And how is it gonna take for the delivery by NOOBODY ? Thanks a bunch for your time. flawless911: Mi CC9e is available in Nigeria as Mi A3; Same cameras same processor same build, the only difference is A3 runs on Stock Google Android while CC9e runs on Xiaomi MIUI
Now if u want a slightly similar hardware and build, u can get the Note 8, same Processor but CC9e main camera is a Sony lens while that of the Note 8 is a Samsung lens, but same 48MP
So U can get the Note 8 or Mi A3 directly in Nigerian stores like Slot, Pointek, etc Also one major advantage is that these ones in Nigeria officially support all our LTE bands so u don't need to worry about that one
You can put these into consideration as well just in case u don't want the hassle of ordering from china directly
But if u really want the CC9e meet Noobody for express delivery |

So your best bet is the other options I showed u if MTN 4G is your priority Contact or DM Noobody privately for details on your 2nd query |

Aswear, I try to avoid this thread as much as post lest I get too tempted by the note 8. Maybe by next year, Xiaomi would have released note 10 mikool007: Bro we Redmi Note 5 users are all in the same shoes, i paid 75k for mine, the Phone overload is much but its a good thing nonetheless it's making quality phones available to all pocket sizes, as for me I'm contented with my phone, 64gb and a good battery life is all i really need |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by NCANCHAIR(m): 12:23pm On Nov 08, 2019 |
So in a nutshell, The CC9e is not advisable to be used in Nigeria? And again, Can the Global Rom software be installed in the CC9e? Thanks bro genius43:
Go to Jboixxx compilation list to check the differences between Global Version and Global ROM.
When I say limitations I mean if the 4G band is not available on the device you won't be able to use it here. And in the CC9e you can use comfortably only Airtel and Etisalat as well Ntel 4G, Glo depends on the few locations they have rolled out band 3.
But as for MTN no 4G for you.
If you ask me I will advice you to settle for either of Redmi Note 8 Global Version or the Mi A3 which is a Global Version to the CC9e |

I noticed you're on Xiaomi.eu rom on RN5, please what items did you wipe before flashing the rom? Alright. Is your bootloader unlocked? Do you have a custom recovery installed? If yes is your answer to both questions, then all you have to do is go into your custom recovery (could be twrp, orange fox etc) and then select wipe from the menu and swipe right to confirm. The wipe won't tamper with any file in your internal or external storage... It's just gonna wipe user data, that's all. After that, you can install the rom. I can share rom link with you in case you get confused as to the exact one to download.. |

I know what Global ROM comes with, not a noob by the way.
Still you can unlock the bootloader of the Global Version yourself and still install the custom ROMs i think he is trying to say that he doesn't like the time spent on unlocking bootloader, instead he go for global ROM as it comes with unlocked bootloader |

raydatluvs: Aswear, I try to avoid this thread as much as post lest I get too tempted by the note 8. Maybe by next year, Xiaomi would have released note 10 It would seem you're missing a lot by not upgrading but you're really not, i remember when i anticipated switching from Redmi Note 3SE to Redmi Note 5, i thought it would be a huge difference or experience but it wasn't, if you have extra cash for an upgrade good if you don't it's not a necessity or a pressing issue that our minds make it out to be |

2sign: Is this phone the global ROM or global version. As Xiaomi Nigeria no gree sell RN8 128gb for Nigeria, make I kuku buy this on 11-11. first of all this is not note 8 rather its note 8 pro with mtk 6gb ram and 64gb ROM at roughly 88k excluding shipping cost, Secondly: if you are interested in the note 8 pro with 64gb of rom, better go for the the ones in naija already and save your self the stress of paying for those shipping fee and unfortunate custom fee even the lengthy delivery process 1 Like |
